Wrong prescription!!…read more I visited this location on March 31, 2021! The doctor and the staff were decent. The exam didn't take much time. I received my glasses maybe a week later. When I got them they were dirty. The front desk lady was upset because I asked her to clean them. I'm sorry--but who wants to pick up dirty glasses? A few days later the glasses were horrible! They hurt my eyes and gave me a headache. I had to resort to my old pair. I called to tell the doctor about my issue. I went back in for him to "correct" the prescription. In the office, everything seems fine. I'm guessing because I only had them on less than 2 mins. So that didn't give my eyes time to adjust! Two days later these lenses are giving me the same problem. The prescription is just too strong. At this point, I'm over it. I couldn't just drop what I was doing for the doctor to "correct" my prescription again. So I finally had time and he told me it's been too long and I have to pay for this visit-- because my eyes changed within 2-3 months. Seriously!!! You want me to pay YOU to correct YOUR mistake. It just didn't make sense. I'll just count this as a loss and move on. I will take the rest of my money elsewhere. This isn't my 3rd pair of glasses so I KNOW what I'm talking about when it comes to my lenses and eyes. Buyer beware!

In turn, I have been scarred for life and avoid seeing the eye doctor for as long as possible. Then came Dr. Slifer at Texas Vision Center. I began seeing her at age 15 in order to obtain contacts for the first time and have seen her almost every year since. She is very calm, gentle, and caring, which puts me at ease when I was haunted for so long. Now it's been 20 years and I have followed her around town to various locations while she's been growing her business. Her brand new building is very nice, has its own parking, and the hours are accommodating. She patiently gives me loads of trial contacts in order to find a comfortable fit for my astigmatism, suggesting new styles that might be suitable, never making me feel like an annoyance, which I probably am. She'll even squeeze you in for emergencies if necessary. If you need an eye doctor in the area, I HIGHLY recommend this woman. She is a saint for dealing with my decrepit eyes all these years and for taking it all in stride.

They are just the best: knowledgeable, skilled, caring, and kind; and they will spend all the time you need for the best visit and care. They are a true family practice and not the cold assembly-line "care" you too often get these days.

I became sensitive to light causing me to wear my sunglasses even inside a building. I started searching for an emergency eye clinic around 9 pm and after leaving several messages at other providers, I lucked up and found Dr. Shunck. He actually answered my call and was very understanding of my situation and concerned for my eye sight. He gave me recommendations for the night and agreed to meet me at his clinic the next morning, a Sunday Morning. The next morning, my pain, blurry vision and watering were 90% better. I started to call and cancel but knew we still had more places to play and a 4 hour drive home. So I met Dr. Schunk at his office at 8 am on a Sunday morning. He was just as attentive in person as he was on the phone. He was very knowledgeable and thorough with the exam. He kept acknowledging that I was on vacation and wanted me to be able to have a good time without any eye problems. He gave me samples of eye drops to use and filed my insurance for the visit. I was prepared to have to pay cash with an up charge for the emergency weekend visit. If I lived in this area, I would definitely make Dr. Schunk my regular Optometrist but since I don't, I will definitely recommend him to my family that lives in Arlington and anyone else reading this review. It's difficult to find care givers that really care. Insurance rules have turned what used to be a "calling" into a business, but Dr. Schunk has remained true to his Oath. I hope you give him your eyes for safe keeping.
