The teachers, Matt and Ash, have been fantastic - so kind, patient, and clearly love what they do. Our child feels safe, supported, and excited to go to school every day, which says a lot! They have gone above and beyond to make sure she thrives both socially and academically. Also, because it's a PreK-8, they get access to library, PE and Music class! She comes home every other day with a story about something she learned in PE, a new song that is stuck in her head or wonderful book that she wants to tell us about. We also love that the preschoolers get chances to interact with the older kids during their family group time - This is going to help make the transition to Kindergarten a lot easier! Since our daughter is just about to turn 4, she will be completing a second year of Pre-K in the 2025-2026 school year and we are all very excited she gets another year with Matt, Ash and many of the friends she has made this year!

Many of the pre schools that did pop up were small mom and pops with little or no availability. With no previous experience with St. Ignatius, I finally specifically searched this local school after getting waitlisted elsewhere and we signed up for it. The teachers and staff are amazing. Very loving towards the children and communicate excellent with families. They even provide multiple pictures every day via the Seesaw app so we know exactly what she is doing every day! Highly recommend St. Ignatius!

We've appreciated the wealth of parent education nights that have informed us about the absolute brilliance that is Montessori education. Wow, Maria Montessori. Each time we're at the school for parent education or some sweet gathering for families, we feel starry eyed and grateful to be able to have our kids at a Montessori school. On top of that, Sunstone is a great community of compassionate people. The year is full of sweet community events and seasonal gatherings. My kids look forward to school the great majority of their days and come home proud of the research/math/knitting or other awesome things they've done. The guides are all excellent, committed and caring, and clearly like family with each other. Truly my only complaint is that I wish we could walk there! And I wish they'd start a high school!

The transition was very smooth and now in her 3rd year there, she's still doing wonderfully. The community (parents, administration, teachers, support staff) are all relaxed and intelligent people that clearly love and value children. The Montessori philosophy and learning environments are authentic and beloved by the children. There's plenty of interaction between the children and the outdoors, with fun interactive garden experiences and an interesting outdoor play area. Tuition is the same as most other Montessori schools, and they offer before and after care, and plenty of opportunities for parents to volunteer. Good times!

My children who are typical hearing, but one with severe learning differences, have thrived at Tucker beyond what we ever could have imagined or expected. Small class sizes, wonderful caring teachers, lots of opportunities for outside time, movement, art, music, and reading, as well as a tremendous support staff makes Tucker one of the best elementary educational opportunities out there. I could not recommend Tucker Maxon more highly, and would be happy to answer any questions about my experience there.

To all the parents who are using Yelp to help them decide on a school for their child, please make…read moresure you read the reviews from the parents who ACTUALLY had a child that attended the school. It seems that other reviewers are very quick to form their opinions about everything a school has (or doesn't have) to offer based upon a hour visit.. Our son just graduated from the 5th grade in June 16' after attending the school since 1st grade. When we were looking for a school for our son it was very important to us to have a traditional school feel but with smaller classroom sizes. We definitely found that and many more things that we had never anticipated our son would learn from Tucker Maxon!! I cannot say enough about how much Tucker Maxon did for my child (non hearing impaired). He was in a classroom each and every year with hearing impaired and non hearing impaired kids. While I cannot speak extensively about the program for hearing impaired children I can say that, after spending 5 years with some of these children, the progress I saw was nothing short of a miracle, not only the kids speech and knowledge but in their self esteem. The hearing impaired kids leave the school feeling like a normal kid should feel at that age and the non hearing impaired kids leave there with something that most schools will NEVER be able to teach and that is treating kids that are different or have disabilities just like they would treat every other kid. My son was taught how to read, write and do math and was also taught about history and punctuation.... BUT more importantly that all the above he was taught to have compassion, patience and caring and the belief that ALL kids should be made to feel accepted and not left out because they may not hear the same or speak the same or even look the same. KUDOS to Tucker Maxon and thank you for teaching my child things I never imagined him learning at such an early age...

Our fourth grader is reading at a tenth-grade level, and our first grader is doing second-grade math--but more importantly (to us), they LOVE their school and are having an awesome experience. The teachers are just exceptional. They're all deeply attuned to each child's learning style and emotional development. The narrative reports we receive twice a year are so thoughtful and insightful that it's palpable that our kids are really KNOWN and appreciated for who they truly are. Their personality quirks, the edges where they're being challenged by a concept... it's all there. The teachers seriously SEE our kids. All of the teachers we've had has been experienced, compassionate, and connected with the kids. But the best part is that our kids have fallen in love with learning, which is what we hoped for most. Our oldest was quickly becoming an anxious perfectionist at a public school in kindergarten before we made the switch, but as soon as we moved to Marylhurst, he began to expand into a flexible, growth-mindset oriented student who understands that mistakes are one of the best ways to learn. The kids get to learn not through endless worksheets or computer programs, but through student-led projects that often turn into elaborate, imagined worlds. Since the kids own so much of the process together, they are invested in their projects, and learn to collaborate across ages in blended classrooms. And the campus is beautiful; it's woodsy and peaceful, with a pond and forested trails for cross-country running. We couldn't be happier with our kids' experience at Marylhurst. It's a nurturing, inspiring community that fosters curiosity and confidence. 10/10, five stars.
