This place is amazing for teakwondo! If you would like to learn, this is the place. My friend Alex…read moreloves it. -Kevin (Eli)

My son has been taking Tae Kwon Do for approximately 3 nearly 4 yrs now. We've been through one…read moreownership change and a couple individual instructor changes and one location change; however the principals and values remain the same. My son plays football and has 0 interest in any other sport. He started Tae Kwon Do during football offseason for exercise and to improve balance and coordination. He recently received his black belt. His mother and I are beyond proud. This martial arts gym allows my son to take breaks while football is in season and return when the season is over. Taking Tae Kwon Do has dramatically improved his balance and coordination and made him more assertive on the football field. This studio is great for all kids for a myriad of different reasons. Other parents and students alike I've spoken to use this facility for: self defense, organized activity for home schooled children, behavioral/ structural respect issues and countless other reasons including my kid wants to be a Ninja Turtle. Parents are encouraged to take classes also. They offer Cub, Youth and Adult classes days a week. Promotions run periodically for discounts on classes and equipment. You can check their website or Facebook to see the current opportunities. I'm relatively certain you can come in at virtually any class on any day (age appropriate of course) and try a class out at no cost or obligation. The lead instructor and manager of this facility is Meredith Little. The owner is Danny Williams. Mr. Williams owns this facility, Hoover and Jasper. You can take classes at Pelham or Hoover if you sign up at either location. The testings for advancement are held at the Hoover location. As a member of Tiger Rock you will also be encouraged to represent at tournaments. You are not required to. We've been to Tuscaloosa a couple times and Nationals at the BJCC. You can go a couple days a week, emerge yourself and go more and you can even take additional classes for weapons training. It's a great facility and it's well run. If you or your child has an interest in martial arts, I would encourage you to give it a shot.

Aw man, I guess I'll start with the good things first. The people there are genuinely so friendly…read moreand seem to really care about their students. The brief time my son went there, he enjoyed it and they seemed to really care about teaching him. The place was clean, and everyone I spoke to was friendly. Bathrooms were spotless. However, when I signed my son up, the girl explained that I could do 4 weeks of class for like $79ish I want to say, could be more or a little less. Can't remember. Or she said I could pay an additional $50 to go ahead and get the 4 weeks of classes, AND his uniform. I went ahead and did that deal since I knew he would need a uniform. I wasn't expecting to be charged for his uniform every month since I had already bought it once, and it was his now. Anyways. My son decided early June after a few classes he wanted to try something different. I called them and explained that he would not be in any more classes and that I needed to cancel. The fella on the phone told me "Welllll we need a 30 day heads up." I said okay. Reluctantly, I paid that month even though my son was no longer in classes, but understanding their policy, I paid. He also asked me for an email address as well, and I gave it to him. Here it is October, and I've been charged $129 for months. I have called them several times. I have emailed them. When I called after I noticed two charges came out of my account, they said "well did you submit cancellation forms?" I said HUH? Nobody sent me anything but the previous guy said he notated my account. The girl I spoke with told me that she saw he notated it BUT failed to send any form over. I guess maybe he forgot. However due to him not doing what he was supposed to, I have been charged since and they WON'T FIX IT. I ended up having to close my bank account. The girl told me she would get my money back, but never called back. I called and spoke with someone (Maybe named Jennifer...?) who said she would call me back after discussing with others. No call back. Called back and sent an email of this same length. No response. No reply. She had sent me the cancellation forms and I dated them back to June since that was the last authorized payment. Nothing has been said, no help. They have completely ghosted me. I did my part, I wish they would do theirs. I'm incredibly frustrated with the company, and I hate it so much that they won't make it right. I am HOPEFUL they will, but they've ignored me. Next step is going to the location, but I doubt they would do anything.

On June 5th I spoke to Jennifer about signing my son up for summer camp the week of July 1st. She…read moresaid I would be receiving a registration packet in the email. I received an email that day confirming my payment. Since that day I have yet to receive any other email from them. I reached out the week before camp to ask about a registration packet, and they said they would be sending it soon. Days later, after still receiving nothing, I contacted again, and they said maybe it sent to the wrong email. I confirmed my email, and then never heard anything back. I never received an email or a text or a call. I called them Monday, July 1st. I spoke to someone about my experience and she was quick to apologize. She offered to make it right, but at this point I dont trust them with my son. She said she would have to speak to the owner about a refund. It is now July 4th and I still have not heard from them regarding this issue. The place is not run well and completely disorganized. I have exhausted all other efforts - so review it is!
