The sauna area was a sausage fest and I was getting all the attention. In comparison to German thermen, it's only average. Half the saunas were closed because of the 'Rona. There is one little jacuzzi - which comfortably accommodates 6. The outside garden was 95% full of men taking the chance to sun-dry their salami. Granted, there are very limited spots to perfect that all-over tan at the Lago - I sympathize. There are very few places to bathe al natura at Lake Garda. Mrs Nesjo even complains when I'm al natura in our own pool.

The room I received my massage in was made for couples and had a zen-like atmosphere. The music was perfect, like listening to a rain forest in the background. My understanding is that the water comes out of a natural spring that heats it to over 100 degrees F. We went on a weekday afternoon. It wasn't crowded, and the cavernous changing rooms were almost empty. You put on a swimsuit and proceed to the pools, going from room to room or indoors to outdoors. You can rent a towel, but everyone walks around in their swimsuit so there's no need for other clothing or equipment (although bringing a pool noodle would be a good idea). There are numerous lounge chairs if you want to lie down and dry off before leaving. The instructions are in English and easy to follow, and there are clocks on the indoors walls so you don't have to worry about when to leave or meet up. I bought a ginseng coffee that was delicious. In short, if you're open to it (i.e., not grossed out by bathing with others), this is a fun and relaxing break.

Everything is pretty much as advertised and/or expected: lake view room actually has the lake view, beds are pretty good (on the firmer side), breakfast is also good, in the evening the on-premises restaurant serves robust if uninspiring dinner. Some logistics: 1) To reach the hotel, you will have to drive through a maze of very narrow and winding streets, this course is gated with the guard checking your name against the hotel guest list. While driving, few times you will wish that you car is smaller and shorter; a good navigator will come especially handy, as some streets are one-way or impassable for cars - but not clearly marked as such. Red/green traffic lights mark the (short) one-way passages, at night the lights blink yellow allowing to cautiously proceed. Getting out of the hotel in a car will take up to 15 minutes to the nearest major road, depending on the tourist crowds that share the streets with you, and will not be possible at all during the daytime on weekends. Couple this with the limited parking at the hotel and the choice of walking becomes very enticing. 2) At the breakfast time, be assertive with the waiters in order to get your coffee/tea in a reasonable amount of time.
