To simply put it- Acorn Films gets it. My wife and I have been together for nearly a decade before tying the knot at Park Winters in Winters, California. To say the least, we needed everything to be just as we imagined it would be back in high school. Acorn delivered on all accounts. The real work started months before where Acorn would be hand-in-hand with us sharing previous videos to give us a feel of their work, contacting us for song choices and asking all the right questions to capture every detail of our special day. They were also extremely attentive to emails/calls whenever we had them. We had a 250+ person wedding in an indoor/outdoor venue with an outdoor ceremony & dinner with dancing indoors. The grounds of our venue were HUGE- lots of land with rolling hills, beautiful fields, lots of green with an almost southern luxury charm. PLUS, it was a dusk wedding and the majority of the wedding took place at night... outdoors.. any photographer or videographer would have a challenge, but not Acorn- they nailed it! Their equipment is top notch. Their style defaults to the client. Their experience is deep, and you can tell they LOVE what they do. I hired Acorn Films after much prodding from my mom. When I was planning my wedding, I was convinced I didn't want a videographer. I mean, who actually likes to see themselves on film? It feels so awkward! But, due to my mom's persistent nagging, I caved and started looking at videographers. That's how I found Acorn Films! As a newer business, they were very reasonably priced and were a total pleasure to work with. At the time that I signed the contract with Acorn Films, they had zero Yelp reviews (and zero reviews anywhere I could find!). So, I kind of went out on a bit of a limb. As the months passed between signing the contract and my wedding, I saw more and more of Shawn & Natalie's work through their Vimeo channel and blog. And I was really pleased with what I saw! You can tell that their editing work is just getting better and better. Fast forward to May, and my wedding day. Shawn & Natalie showed up right on time (if not a little early), set up, worked with the photographers and the DJs, and filmed away. When our photographer wanted to drive out closer to the ocean for a bit of a photoshoot, Natalie even helped drive me and my bridal party over. I barely noticed their presence at the wedding. Now onto the final product: the videos. You know, I hate to say it, but my mom was right all along. Videos are just so much different than photographs. Watching the short film made me feel like I was back at my wedding again. It's just different -- and I'm glad I went with a videographer. I loved my short film, it really captured the emotions of the day. The longer main film is something that I probably won't watch on a regular basis, but man... the short film. Totally worth it! Shawn & Natalie really captured some great angles of the first dance, the ceremony, everything. In many ways, photographs capture the best moments of your wedding. Shawn and Natalie filmed our wedding back in October at Murrieta's Well. I cannot even begin to say what an amazing job they did creating our wedding day on film. From our pre-wedding meeting to getting the end product, it was seamless. They are so friendly and really listen to what you want to focus on. They were at our hotel as me and my bridesmaids & groomsmen were getting ready and captured all detail shots and our special time getting ready for the big day. They, somehow, got every single special moment from the morning and were almost invisible to us. We barely even noticed they were there. Then they followed us to our venue to capture our first look and proceeded to follow us thru every step of the day: family pictures, ceremony, first dances, speeches, cake cutting, everything. They were so calm and attentive throughout the day, which is what we needed...as weddings can be a bit stressful at times. They were kind enough to stay for our departure, even though it was more hours than we had booked them for. The wedding footage and short film was sent to us within a month or two. When we watched the footage, it was like reliving our wedding day over again. They completely captured the emotions, laughter and happy tears we experienced that day. Acorn films is simply excellent. Shawn and Natalie filmed our wedding in May 2017, and our video was STUNNING. The couple is so easy to work with, and you can tell that they absolutely love what they do - so refreshing and reassuring when you want to make sure all the love and beauty of the day gets captured. They had never worked with our photographer before, but immediately hit it off and worked seamlessly together, blending into the background when appropriate and jumping in to make suggestions when they saw something amazing that they wanted to capture. Leading up to the wedding, Natalie worked with us on the timeline, had a questionnaire about what we wanted captured, and provided a list of things to set out for detail shots (and a reminder a few days before to actually pack those things, a lifesaver!). Shawn and Natalie came so prepared and excited to shoot on the day of the wedding and made us feel so natural in front of the camera. They are extremely talented, such a pleasure to work with, and made the memory of our special day absolutely perfect. And for anyone deciding yes/no on videography for their wedding - this is one thing you will not regret spending money on. Shawn and Natalie filmed a short pregnancy announcement video for us and words cannot even express how grateful I am to have this footage! They spent a whole afternoon at our house, capturing some of our "everyday" moments as a family of three (soon to be four).
