If you want representation in a Northern Virginia criminal…read morecase, trust me, you will have no regrets if you select Mr. Mayoras as your Defense Attorney. In August 2015, my daughter was a victim of assault and pressed charges against her aggressor. The aggressor counter-charged my daughter. Mr. Mayoras was selected as her public defender. Prior to the hearing, Mr. Mayoras engaged with the prosecutor and maintained contact with us. On the day of the trial I observed other cases prior to ours being heard, I saw weak defense attorneys lose repeatedly to the tough prosecutor. As my daughter was called forward I started to worry. Mr. Mayoras was a rock solid attorney as he cross-examined the defendant who counter-charged my daughter capitalizing on every weakness and inconsistency. He not only had my daughter's counter-charge dismissed but his piercing argument ensured that the aggressor received a conviction. I was absolutely impressed. A year later my son broke up with his girlfriend. In her anger, in March 2016, she chose to file charges of strangulation, assault, and battery saying that my son tried to kill her. A felony warrant was issued for the strangulation and a misdemeanor warrant was issued for the assault and battery. At that moment our lives changed forever. If convicted, my son, a United States Marine, was facing a five-year prison sentence and discharge from the military with no hope of ever finding decent employment in the United States. Life as he knew it would be over for the rest of his life. I called Mr. Mayoras to take the case even though I knew he only practiced in Northern Virginia. Although he warned me that he had no insight into the Norfolk courts, based on my previous observations, I believed that if anyone could save my son, it would be Mr. Mayoras. Upon taking the case, he did extensive research and kept us informed of his strategy to win. With months of preparation we went to trial in October 2016. Like my previous encounter in court a year earlier I observed multiple weak defense attorneys lose to the tough prosecutors leading to multiple convictions. At the end of the day, the last case to be heard, my son was called to trial. I started to get concerned as the prosecutor started to build a case against my son. However, as every prosecuting witness was brought forward, Mr. Mayoras processed every word that was stated exploiting every weakness and inconsistency in their testimony through cross-examination. He even challenged the relevance of certain witnesses who as a result did not even get to testify. Then it was the time for the defense to take action. Short, straight, and to the point he built a bullet-proof defense with only two witnesses and the defendant. Sharp, smart, and one step ahead of the game, he even recalled one of the prosecuting witnesses and manipulated the individual to testify in favor of my son. The strength in the prosecutor's case had dwindled by the end of the trial through the skill and mental agility of Mr. Mayoras. The judge dismissed both charges and my son was a free man with a life ahead of him. Think about it, Mr. Mayoras won this case despite having never entered the Norfolk courthouse previous to this. I challenge you not just to take my word for it. You have one chance to win or lose a case. Call him and find out when he is next in court. It will cost you nothing to see him first hand in action as he handles his case. I promise that you will be absolutely impressed. You don't have to choose him, but please make your selection only after seeing him handle a case in court. I am in the military and am due to rotate to Florida next year. My only regret is that Mr. Mayoras is not bar certified in Florida! Good luck to you. Choose your defense attorney wisely.

Being at my wits end, I found Mr. Dance through Superlawyers.com. Mr. Dance is rated a "Rising Star" by his peers and that meant something to me. Within a week (my pendente lite case was already scheduled) Mr. Dance successfully negotiated child support for me way over the guidelines. Within two weeks of retaining Mr. Dance, an additional mediation was scheduled. I was skeptical and hesitant to attempt an additional mediation, but trusted Mr. Dance's advice and I'm so glad I did. With Mr. Dance at the helm, this round went much different than the last. Mr. Dance has a straight forward approach of dealing with his clients that is so refreshing. He doesn't mince words but does it in a way that lets you know you are being heard and taken care of. He is a great communicator letting you know what is happening with your case all along the way. When I retained Mr. Dance, I was looking for a finisher. A strong confident attorney that could push back and stay strong against my spouse's northern Virginia attorney. Mr. Dance played that role masterfully and I was so thankful to have him on my side. If you are facing a divorce, do yourself a favor and retain Mr. Dance. He is by far the best value for your money in the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania area. Coming to him first would have saved me a tremendous amount of money.

During one of the most painful and challenging seasons of my life -- a long and exhausting custody battle that ultimately went all the way to the Virginia Court of Appeals -- Mary Elizabeth stood beside me with strength, wisdom, and unwavering dedication. From the very beginning, she believed in my case and fought tirelessly to make sure my voice was heard. Family court can be incredibly overwhelming, especially when emotions are high and the stakes involve the well-being of your child. Mary Elizabeth handled every challenge with professionalism, intelligence, and confidence. What meant the most to me was not only her legal expertise but also her compassion. She understood that behind every case is a family and a person trying to hold their life together. During moments when I felt discouraged or afraid, she remained steady and determined, and her advocacy made all the difference. Because of her hard work and commitment, we prevailed in a case that helped protect my daughter's stability and future. I will always be grateful for the role she played during such an important chapter of my life. Mary Elizabeth White is not only an exceptional attorney but also a person of integrity who truly fights for her clients. I have read other reviews here and find them to be highly questionable. Espesially with ficticious names or "Anonymous". Such as works out of her car. Apparently, this person does not know many lawyers. Many lawyers will "Work out of their car" or meet a client someplace conveinent for both parties. But I can assure you that ms Embrey's client information is safe at all times. As for her "being all about the money", I guess that's why she's always doing stuff for people who have no money? Ms Embrey has helped many people whom I know personally. There are always some out there that feel that they did not get the results that they wanted. but in Court, sometimes, that's how things happen. we may not get what we want, but our lawyers get us the best possible outcome that they can. So before writing false reviews about a great person who helps so many, ask yourself... Am I better off than I was before? The answer will most likely be "Yes". Then why slander someone because your case or your testimony may not have been as strong as you said or thought that it was. Ms Embrey is highly recomended by clients who do not use these sites, friends, family, and colleagues. very experienced and honest. If you aren't willing to put your name to a review, it probably should not be trusted.

As well as a separate case. We were prepared to go to court for two months for the custody case but at the last minute my child's father suggested we come to an agreement on our own instead of going to court and letting a Judge decide what would be in the best interest of our child. I was told that this would be the cheaper route by Mrs. Embrey because the time would be shorter and she does not charge as much as she does when she is representing a client in a courtroom. My Ex's attorney told him this as well. We met at the Guardian Ad Lietms office, in separate rooms with our attorneys, while the Guardian Ad Lietm walked back and forth telling us what they wanted in the court ordered agreement and vice versa. I felt like we were in high school passing notes. After three hours of this we finally came to our agreement. A few weeks later I was emailed an invoice by Mrs. Embrey's receptionist, Terry. I was charged the exact same amount as I would have been if we were in a courtroom. Now going on to the seperate case I had. The first hearing I had Mrs. Embrey never showed up! She didn't call or text me. Nothing at all. I called her receptionist, Terry and she had to keep calling her numerous times. Heather gave me a call after my hearing was over and said she was very sick and slept through her alarm and that she was very sorry and that she would take money off of the flat rate that she had originally charged me. Which was $1,500. Terry never took money off of my bill. Mrs. Embrey claims that I still owe her more than $3,500. I do not believe that I do. I paid this woman a "flat rate" on two separate occasions of $1,500 for this separate case. She told me that since the case was moved to a higher court it would be another $1,500. This woman is just about money. She can't juggle her home life and work life. Please beware.
