To correct the issue, I had to hire another professional to file appeals and work directly with the IRS. Dennis paid the invoice for that corrective work, which ultimately resulted in the IRS granting a one-time penalty abatement for 2021. However, when the IRS declined to waive the 2022 penalties (because a prior abatement had already been granted), Dennis refused to reimburse the second round of penalties and related costs. Resolving this matter has taken years of additional correspondence, expense, and stress. I would strongly recommend ensuring clear follow-through and accountability when working with any tax professional. it's still ongoing to this day and I'm stuck with disputing close to $5000 on penalties due to his negligence.
