Having rented a house through ACJ I would never do so again.
We rented a house when we moved to Penarth from London. The property had many faults which we overlooked as we did not expect to stay there that long, such as oven not working, cupboard doors falling off, taps not working, leaks etc..
the house that we were renting was on the market, so we stupidly put up with the shortcomings as we didn't want to incur the landlord any costs. We thought we were doing them a favour. How wrong we were.
On reflection, I wish I had caused them the hassle of correcting the faults..
We accommodated many viewings of the house and made the property clean and presentable each time.
Sure enough, when we vacated the property we were hit with a barrage of deposit draining faults, none of which were ours.. The word pedantic doesn't come close. Amongst the claims they even listed 'pebble left in a cupboard 'and for a cracked mirrored cabinet door - the door had fallen off and nearly sliced my toe off.!
As expected, despite leaving the house in as good if not better condition, we lost a chunk of deposit..
BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU RENT THROUGH THESE GUYS IF YOU WANT YOUR DEPOSIT BACK..! Make sure you photograph / Video the property when you move in it will come in handy when you try to prize your deposit back. read more
