Love both of their locations. They are wonderful with kids. Instructors are great flexible schedule.

Also great to know some self defense. I'm 62 and there's a nice crew of participant who all help each other. I see a lot of kids during the afternoons and they love it too. Staff is positive friendly and professional.

RESPONSE TO BUSINESS REPLY IN ANOTHER REVIEW. I'm keeping…read morethis anonymous, as this business has a history of harassing former students, and although I'm not sure if they've ever done it over what I'll discuss in this review, I don't want to risk it. A small disclaimer that I am not a current student, so it's possible that things have changed. Highly unlikely, but still possible. There are many issues with Steve Sohn's gym, not the least of which is Krav Maga itself. This is not an effective self defense form in the slightest. If you need to tell your partner to stand differently or use their other hand in order to for you to complete the technique, it's not a good technique. And most of the techniques are not good. The "choke from the front one hand pluck" defense is tragic. It involves "plucking" the attacker's hand from your throat. If that were possible for most people, no one would feel the need to learn self defense. The instructors at this gym refuse to acknowledge that size, sex, and age DO matter, and that things that are possible for 6'0 men may very well not be for 5'5 women. This refusal is dangerous. The last thing any woman needs is to be delusional about whether she can protect herself. Krav Maga is marketed as the most effective form of self defense for anyone and everyone, but it's actually the complete opposite. If you are anyone who isn't a man who is over 6'0 and in excellent shape, Krav Maga techniques will not help you. From the outside looking in, Krav Maga looks very impressive. Very cinematic. But life is not cinema. Do Muay Thai or BJJ. You can likely do both for a fraction of what you'd pay at this place, and learn something valuable in the process. Now on to the more touchy part. This is a shady operation. I've heard/seen other stories about their sketchy money antics, but I'm not here to talk about that. The main instructor has an odd view of women. He seems simultaneously amused and angered by them, and will disproportionately and relentlessly use them in unnecessary demonstrations of techniques. He doesn't fully respect when they tap out. If he stops at all, he stops for 30 seconds and then continues whatever it was he was doing. Tapping out is sacred. Once someone taps, you stop. It doesn't matter how you feel about it. You stop. Not him, though. I have pictures on my phone of bruises that were caused by him not respecting when I tapped out. He spends a lot of time making sure everyone in the room hears him get verbal consent to touch someone's ankle or wrist, saying he doesn't want to "catch an accusation". A small amount of that would be understandable, but it's unbelievable. Why talk about it so much? I counted one class how many times, and in a 1 hour class, it was 11 times. Why? The owner is very, VERY friendly with young, single women. Not as friendly with older, married ones. He is overly handsy with the women, and will pass flirtatious comments to them as well, despite being an elderly man with a wife and family. Weird. It comes down to this: A Krav Maga student is vulnerable. The intricate techniques are useless in a real situation. Maybe the weapon defense ones work, but the hand to hand combat ones do not. If you don't want to listen to this review or your own common sense, look it up. Look on YouTube, martial arts forums, social media. ANYWHERE. It's not real, and making people believe they're in a position to protect themselves and their families when they very much are not is neglectful at best, but based on their history with stealing money from former students, it's probably more manipulation than neglect. Don't allow yourself to fall for it. I would LOVE to see a fight between a student from this place and a student from any MMA gym anywhere. Maybe that's what it would take to convince Krav students that they're wasting their time and money. Don't come here. Especially not if you're a woman. There's a reason very few of the women that start there stay there, and it's not because it's "too hard". Other dojos and gyms in Westchester have a significantly higher female student retention rate than this one. But even if you're a man, why waste your time?

After receiving a promotion online for Tiger's Schulmann's that states reopening special free…read morebeginner class and clearly states $50 off 1st month membership, I signed up and received a call and pay $30.00 as a deposit for us coming in on Saturday with the intention of enrolling my two boys, Liam 4 years old and Julius 10 years old. On Saturday, August 22nd, we were greeted by Shihan Peter Tirelli and the boys received their lesson. I agree to continue the process and I mentioned the promotion. While I was talking to Shihan Peter the boys were given uniforms, the cost of the uniforms was not indicated. Nor was I informed the fee for the uniforms was waived. To be honest, I thought it was included in the package for the 12 months. Instead, I received the pricing for the boys in 2 separate contracts Julius would be $239.00 a month and Liam who's 4 years old would be $191.00, I guess that's because of sibling discount that's suppose to be 20% percent off. On Saturday, after paying $30.00 before arriving I also left a deposit of $100.00 towards the tuition cost as I was not prepared or expected that we would have to pay the full amount for the month already upfront. We agreed that I could returned on Wednesday to pay the remaining balance. Yesterday, we returned to pay the remaining balance for the boy's for the month and for them to start training. And I asked the Sensei who was there that I wanted to confirm that $50.00 promotion was applied to the account and I wanted to know why I pay $30.00 for the beginner class of it was suppose to be free according to the promotion. He said, "hold on let me look into your account, I don't think we take that promotion...and wait I see it! so that went to the uniforms for the boys." And I replied, I wasn't informed there was a cost for the uniforms, I was only told to buy gloves for Liam who's 4 years on the tiger website for $60.00. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth, so I asked him for a detailed receipt indicating the cost for the kid's tuition and the breakdown showing that the $50.00 came off for the uniform cost for the kids. He said we really can't do that and gave me a receipt that just reflected a balance due, it does not state the cost of anything only what I paid for. At that point, I was feeling more uncomfortable and told the Sensei I needed to call my husband before I continued the process he said okay. So then I waited in the sitting area and he asked me to leave saying parents were allowed to stay in the waiting area to wait outside and pick up the boys from the back at the end of class. I said what do you mean the back, yes the kids are usually released from the back of facility and there's space for the cars there. I said wow that was also not communicated to me on Saturday. Especially, since on the website they have parents sitting waiting on the bench. Now upset standing waiting outside in front of the facility Shihan Peter calls, I explained everything and he apologized for not mentioning the cost and all these different details that were not discussed at the beginning of orientation and offered to cancel the contract for the misunderstanding and would provide a full refund. I said I would let him know. After, the boys finished the class, I just decided it was not going to work for me. I was afraid that the prices were not going to match pricing at different Tiger Schulmann due to the poor communication from the beginning. I felt like I was being misled and started looking at Tiger Schmann's in Manhattan. I called him and cancelled and he said "No problem, please send me an email requesting the cancellation." I emailed him right after our call but Today, I received an email from Shihan Peter: Yonkers yonkers@tsk.com wrote: Yes we will cancel their contracts but considering you took a 2 uniform and we only charged for 1 one your kids for a private lesson we should be even. I immediately called him and questioned his unprofessional email and offered to returned the gear. He said we can't take it back. I said, why did you offer a full refund if that was not going to be the case. He said let's just be honest you couldn't afford the class. Talk about professionalism. Parents BEWARE!!!
