My review of Dr. Galindo's practice is based on my personal experience with the conjoint therapy…read moreprocess and the report she prepared, not on dissatisfaction with an unfavorable court outcome. I recognize that a professional is entitled to clinical opinions, just as I am entitled to respectfully disagree with them. Disagreement does not equate to an unwillingness to accept accountability, engage in self-reflection, or acknowledge areas for personal growth. I have participated in therapy before family litigation and understand the importance of examining my own conduct. My concern centers on the language, paraphrasing, and emphasis used in the report following my conjoint sessions with my son. In particular, I found the use of the word "incorrigible" concerning because of the negative connotation it carries. The report attributed this characterization to my son's perception of how I viewed him; nevertheless, I believe the wording contributed to an unnecessarily negative framing of an already difficult parent-child relationship. I was also concerned about how the report presented the interactions and distinguished between reported perceptions, direct observations, and professional conclusions. I understand that conjoint therapy can involve difficult conversations and that not every session will produce positive results. My concern is not that the sessions were challenging or that the professional conclusions did not favor my position. Rather, I left the process feeling that the report placed disproportionate emphasis on negative interpretations without adequately conveying the context and complexity of the interactions. I believe accountability and fair, balanced reporting should coexist. A parent can acknowledge another person's feelings and take responsibility for personal growth while still questioning whether a professional's characterization accurately reflects the circumstances. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice. I encourage families considering conjoint or reintegration therapy to ask questions about the clinician's approach, how interactions are documented, and how reported perceptions are distinguished from direct observations and professional conclusions.

Dr. Galindo did permanent damage to my family. She was hired to do court ordered reunification…read moretherapy, and failed, on so many levels, at great financial and emotional costs to my family. She was slow, unavailable, and uncommunicative, when time was of the essence. She was co-opted by and failed to hold accountable the alienating parent, refusing to report how the mother was blocking progress and undermining the therapeutic process. It's only now, 4 years later with a broken family, that I realize how badly she failed my daughter and I. I highly recommend you find someone else for your estranged and/or alienated child and question whether she should be doing this kind of work at all.

Dr. Miriam Galindo is a wise, caring professional and a wonderful human being…read more I came to this site in search of Dr. Galindo's contact info. I wanted to track her down to give her an update on how everything "turned out" after our sessions with her 13 years ago. It was a difficult, scary period -- divorce and custody fight -- so I get how emotion and polarization might be the root of the few negative reviews. Nevertheless, when I told my son, now 18, that some reviews were critical, he said, "Mom, you have to write and tell everyone how great 'Miss Miriam' is!") Gabriel certainly remembers his Miss Miriam with affection. Only 5, through play therapy she helped him express his troubled feelings and fears. With respect and kindness, she helped him, even at that young age, recognize that what was happening was not his fault. For that, I am forever grateful. Dr. Galindo also gave me great counseling and words of advice that I have referred back to time and time again over the years. Among other things, she explained to me, "Our mother and father always form a part of who we are. So if you can find a way to help your son have a loving relationship with BOTH you and his daddy, you will be helping him become a more complete, mentally healthy person". Luckily I was able to "hear" those words and take that path. My son started college out in Boston this fall and is doing well. He has a loving relationship with both his father and me. I thank Dr. Galindo for her help in launching this beautiful boy. note: I've also posted this review on "RateMDs".
