Uh... I could have done it myself. I asked her if this parking lot has a fee, she said no. I knew there was a parking lot that is free parking, but I didn't remember where it was. So I was charged 2 dollars for parking. I thought th sign said its 2 dollar after 4pm? The sign was confusing and misleading. If I knew you had to pay and knowing a parking lot near by is free, I would not have came here. I paid 2 dollars for parking and I had to walk farther to get to the restaurant. The other free parking lot was even closer.

It was (note the past tense) a clean, safe, okay priced parking area for John Wayne airport. My wife and I regularly parked at Main Street Parking when taking trips from John Wayne Airport. The daily charge of $14 wasn't cheap, but it was manageable. We were shocked (and the reason for the 1 star review) to be charged $20 a day for a fee of $160 for an 8-day stay in January. While increasing the fee to account for inflation makes sense, a 43% increase from December 31st, 2024 to January 1st, 2025 is exorbitant for an Orange County-owned facility. The inflation rate in the US in 2024 was 2.9%. The increase in the parking fee is nearly 15 times that of inflation. This outrageous increase does not serve the needs of the community, especially those, like my wife and I, who are middle class. This increase makes traveling from John Wayne Airport very expensive. This fee is on par with LAX without the cheap flights that you can get from there. Unless your trip is 4 days or less, it is cheaper to take an Uber, Lyft or taxi from most places in Orange County to the airport rather than park at Main Street Parking. For example, my wife and I just returned from a 5 night trip but this time we took a Lyft to/from home. It was less expensive than what we would have paid for parking at Main Street Parking. (In the past for a 5 night trip we would just parked at Main Street Parking.) The cost is so high that we started looking at LAX for future trips and discovered that we could park there for $14 plus get the cheaper and non-stop flights from LAX. Yes, a longer drive but we saved on flights for an upcoming trip, no need for a connecting flight and $14 a night parking. (See the $14 a night quote attached.) We're not the only one thinking this way. When we returned to John Wayne airport on this last trip, lots of people were waiting for Ubers and Lyfts. The Lyft driver was surprised. Maybe all those people realized what we did: it's too expensive to park at Main Street Parking. The $20 a night fee limits the number of people who can actually afford to park at Main Street Parking to those on business trips (who will get the cost reimbursed) or those for whom money is no object.

Closest covered parking terrace to 4th Street Market. Very full on weekends, but it's large with a lot on either side of the street. $4 per vehicle after 7pm, $1.50 an hour before that. Beware: there was no ticket machine spitting out tickets for an hourly stay. We just paid a man $4 cash upon entering. Money taker gave us an odd looking long ticket, didn't say a word to us. Upon leaving we were unexpectedly stopped, they asked for our ticket, we could not find said ticket. We dig and search, finally find it. Lady asks why we didn't just place in window. First, we were never told to. It feels like they're baiting folks into a double charge. They need to communicate better.

Parked here last night, the signs and kiosks are purposefully confusing. It said $7 for daily max…read moreand $4 for Wed-Sat after 7pm. The kiosk inside the structure however only had an option for the $7. When I went to exit the automated machine told me I still had to pay $4, even though I already paid the daily max. Really deceitful to double charge people like this. This place needs to be more clear about how to pay and where.

You can tell this is an old train station by looking at the structure and its layout. I'm sure…read morethat at one point it was absolutely beautiful. Not so much now. Caught the Amtrak Surfliner from Santa Ana to Old Town San Diego. While the ride was great, this train station was a bit of an adventure. Signage is not really clear about where to go, especially if you've never been here before. Restrooms were all closed. Could not find any guard or employee to answer any questions. You have to walk outside to see the screen that shows you train times and track number, but of course, that is after you've meandered around the actual station looking for information. Obviously this is a heavily traveled line (for both Metrolink and Amtrak), so you would think that there would at least be someONE there to assist travelers. Truly, it looks deserted when you enter, almost as if you've stepped back in time to see what an old train station looks like. Disappointed, and as a new traveler that has never used this station before, I felt very lost and a little creeped out.

My favorite airport! Flying in and out of here is always a breeze. The whole place has such a…read morerelaxed, chill vibe, and I've never had issues with TSA or long security lines. There are plenty of great food and drink options, from quick grab-and-go spots to more upscale sit down restaurants. Lots of new restaurants coming soon as well. One of my favorite touches is the live music. There's usually a guitarist/singer performing in a designated area, which adds to the laid-back atmosphere. It's not random, it feels intentional and professional. The bathrooms are also super clean and thoughtfully designed, with red/green lights above each stall so you can easily see what's available without checking doors. They even have a public piano, and I've heard some incredibly talented travelers play while waiting for their flights.

On departure to park they had an hotel event they parked me two parking garages over and it took me over 30 minutes to park and walked 2 blocks to get to the shuttle. With kids and luggage all together took over an hour to get to airport. For pickup they are suppose to arrive 15 and 45 past the hour. They first picked us up 15 minutes late. And the driver didn't help very much loading our 4 bags and stroller. Then when we got in and sat down the driver sat there as if he was waiting for more people then very rudely said "Could you sit down so we can go" to my 4 year old who was sitting with legs up we were so shocked in the rude way it was said both my wife and I and other guests on the shuttle couldn't believe he just said that to our child. Lastly when walking back to my car and the parking ticket wouldn't open the gate had to call and explain pre-paid parking to operator. I've tried multiple parking options I would avoid Hotel Irvine completely it was the worst one!
