We go there frequently as it's much closer than Lowe's. We always find what we need. Service is excellent & you don't need to find a clerk.

My interaction with the Budget Blinds franchise on the Big Island started well, but things quickly…read morewent downhill. Shortly after moving into a home that lacked any window coverings, I arranged for Dionne to come by and give me an estimate. I selected vertical blinds for three large windows in the main living area and for the glass sliding door in the master bedroom, plus horizontal blinds for two smaller bedroom windows. The price seemed reasonable, so I okayed the estimate and paid the required 60% deposit. That was in late January. Dionne indicated it should take 2-3 weeks for the blinds to arrive, so after about a week I emailed to see if there were any updates. As would become a pattern, it took several days and a second inquiry to get a response, which was that the order would ship in 5-6 days, with a tracking number that would give an idea of the arrival date. Two more weeks went by with no word. I followed up on Feb. 24 and was informed that the blinds had just arrived. After a brief delay due to a health emergency, we scheduled installation for the first week in March. So far, so good. Except that when the installer came to put up my blinds, it turned out that the horizontal blinds for one bedroom were missing, along with the hardware to install the valance for the master bedroom. What followed was a succession of delays, messages not returned until I'd made 2-3 followups ,and two more misfires: Eventually the missing blinds arrived, but twice they sent the installer with the wrong valance hardware. This went on till May - yes, May - for an order that was placed in January and supposed to be done in no more than about 3 weeks. The final part of the job - installing the bedroom valance for which they kept sending the wrong hardware - didn't get done until May 14. At no point in this whole ordeal did Dionne proactively reach out to me with any updates or attempted reassurance. At no point did I ever get a response to my inquiries without at least two, sometimes three, tries. How long does it take to type, "Sorry, no news yet but I'm keeping an eye on it - will let you know as soon as I hear" -- something, anything, to let the customer know they haven't been forgotten? After a couple months of this I emailed that it was time to talk about a price reduction, given the multiple delays and the inconvenience they were causing. As you can probably guess, that request was ignored. All was finally finished on May 14 and I awaited a bill. Nothing that week. Nothing the next week. Had she decided to waive the final 40% that was due as compensation for this fiasco? That seemed too much to hope for, plus it would be weird to do that and not say so. Nah, a bill finally arrived in early June for the final 40% with a bland "thanks for your patience" note. Rather than argue further, I just paid it. By then I just wanted to forget the whole interaction. I can't say positively that this is the worst customer service experience I've ever had, but it's certainly close. On the bright side, the end product looks just fine. But... never again.
