A welcome sanctuary for those looking for a bit of peace and quiet. Best time to come is in the Spring when the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom Wandering around the gardens made me slightly nostalgic for my home in England which is nestled in the heart of the Somerset countryside. After I visited, I told all my friends, many have lived in Paris 50+ years, and they never heard of it! The new greenhouses surrounding court Simonne-Mathieu of Roland Garros are the unique attraction. Though when I visited there had been significant vandalism, so 2 of the sides were closed. All the traditional buildings are in a terrible state. Let's hope the Mairie de Paris spends money on restoration, but go anyway. You can enter most of the hoses, and they are lovely. It's quiet, it's lovely and it's full of greenhouses where plants and foliage from different countries and continents are grown. It's also a free visit. Bring your sandwich, take a book, smell the flowers, enjoy the quiet! So pretty!

Passionné par la photo, il reste enfermé dans ses murs toute la journée. Souhaitant le faire sortir pour prendre l'air, sa femme lui demande un jardin. Nait alors l'idées d'un jardin de roses et une collection de centaines de ces fleurs. Pour organiser sa collection (quelques 1600 espèces), l'heureux propriétaire fait appel à un architecture qui crée alors ce magnifique jardin, véritable écrin pour ces roses. D'amateur à passioné, Jules Gravereaux est passé à spécialiste reconnu de la rose. En 1910, son jardin est réogarnisé pour accueillir les 8000 roses du genre Rosa qu'il a réussi à réunir. Il s'agit de la Roseraie telle qu'on peut la visiter. Senteurs, odeurs, essences, couleurs, variétés sont à arpenter dans un superbe jardin de plus d'un hectare et demi, réparti en 12 allées. Standing 25 meters tall, the vertical garden is planted with 7600 plants representing 250 different species. While it may not be a top site in Paris like the Eiffel Tower, it's a fascinating piece of urbran art in its own right, and worth taking a look if you're in the neighborhood.
