After a long search and many interviews trying to find an accountant that seemed both competent AND…read morepersonable, I finally found Lisa! She was listed on the CGA website. While I do my own bookkeeping, Lisa prepares all of the financial statements and tax returns for my 3 businesses and has done a fantastic job at keeping it all straight for me. She has always been available to answer questions and is very thorough at year end, explaining everything to me in detail and the implications on my personal finances. Her fees are extremely reasonable too (but don't tell her, I don't want them to go up :) If you're searching for an accountant, I'd highly recommend Lisa.

My husband has some prior experience filing taxes, but we wanted a professional opinion to ensure…read moreeverything was done correctly. During our consultation, the refund amount quoted was significantly lower than what we had calculated using a reputable tax software. When we asked for clarification, the tax preparer became defensive and repeatedly told us our calculations were wrong, but could not clearly explain why. We provided all the required documents and were still considering proceeding until he suddenly informed us that the fee would be $200 because our return was "tedious." This charge was not mentioned when the appointment began. When we decided not to proceed due to the higher fee and lower refund estimate, he became upset and demanded $150 for his time. I was pregnant at the time and found the situation very stressful, especially as he was unwilling to let us leave without paying. After a lengthy argument, he eventually accepted $75. My husband later filed the taxes independently and received a much larger refund than what had been quoted. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this service due to the lack of transparency, poor communication, and unprofessional conduct.

I went to the CRA website to change my address information in Sep and it said I hadn't filed my taxes this year. I was left confused and really disappointed. They finally filed my taxes from Feb in Sep (only 8 months late). Please do not use this service. They didn't even offer me a refund and stopped replying to my emails. Save yourself the headache I went through. Taxes require professionalism and this company cannot offer that.
