The library and computing facilities were second to none. The university is nicely situated in the heart of Newcastle, with Haymarket metro station and numerous bus services closeby. There are plenty of facilites on campus, as well as the whole of Northumberland street just across the road! As for the general atmosphere of the place - I was not keen. I'm unsure whether I was just unlucky in that the people on my course were not particularly friendly, or whether the university as a whole is like this I was told before going to this university that a lot of the students were so-called 'Durham rejects'. I found this to be quite true although I'm sure those students would not admit it, it was made to be very difficult for the local students to mingle with those student from other areas of the UK. I have no qualms about the level of teaching - the lecturers were very friendly and clearly 'knew their stuff' and the course I did was challenging. If I had to choose again, I would rather have gone to Northumbria University. Although the standard of the course and the entry requirements are generally lower at Northumbria and the campus is less aesthetically pleasing, I imagine that the 'university experience' (which is what most students go for!!!) would have been a whole lot more enjoyable.

There is a huge range of courses, both undergraduate and postgraduate and the range of extra curricula activities is awe inspiring. More than 18,000 students from over 100 different countries choose to study at Newcastle so there is a diverse range of cultures represented in every faculty. There are over 200 full time undergraduate degree programmes to choose from in the following subject areas: Arts Business and Law Combined Studies Engineering Foundation Year Life Sciences Medical Sciences Physical Sciences Social Sciences Newcastle University enjoys strong international collaboration so opportunities are often available for overseas study (dependent upon the degree studied). There are mentoring programmes available for those returning to study, and during your first year of study you are guaranteed a place in University accommodation (certain criteria apply). There are some wonderfully inspirational lecturers there who I would now call firm friends. The architecture in the original parts of the university is superb. There is a great social mix with any number of things to do outside of study - from jazz appreciation to fencing, yoga to wine tasting, scuba diving to martial arts. There is a well maintained gym, a number of places on campus to enjoy bad food, a great student union bar hosting numerous social events and live acts, and it's all in a great city. The people are really friendly, and all of the teaching staff seem really enthusiastic about the course(s) they teach. The student accommodation is really good here as well, as all of it is really close to the Uni itself (I think the furthest is about a 5 minute walk)! It's definitely worth a look as in my opinion I think it's a top Uni. Even if you are going to Uni here, it's worth a look just to see the buildings!

The fellow students comes from different backgrounds, which are great. The class rooms are modern and well equipped. This university expands so fast in the last 10 years. It has just built a new campus in new bridge street (central newcastle), which is absolutely state of the art building. The new building in new bridge street is well architectured and modern. The student union is fun as well. The problem is just the exams and the assignments are not easy, which is good as it shows the quality.

Newcatle college is what I can only describe as the worst educational institution in the United…read moreKingdom. The staff are only motivated about enrolling students for the funding. Once enrolled they could not care less. This is my third year at Newcastle College and although all of it is terrible, the school of health & enterprise is by far the worst. The staff have no relevance to the subject they teach you from a paper booklet and know nothing but that. The power points are outdated and the staff are even more outdated. They can't even get the NCMA payments right with endless delays per term. If you care about your education go elsewhere.

I was…read moreconsidering going into horse care and when looking on the Newcastle college website this college is called 'West End Collage' but when you google it on google maps it just directs you to a random street in central Newcastle. As a 17 year old girl who does have issues getting to places finding these directions was stupidly hard. On the site I wasn't supplied with the postcode, and the other West End College was in London which I also got directed to. It was only when I typed 'Newcastle College John Marley Center' I could find the college. Good going college. I am very displeased with how awkward it is to find. But I will still be attending this college but only because it is the only college which does Horse Care, if you are not local to the area and will not be getting rides from parents I would not recommend coming here, especially if you have just left high school. As you can tell I am livid by how hard it is to find this place. Chances are this review is unlikely to change unless they get there grip together and make maps more obvious and if it is worth the education.
