In all the psychiatric treatment I've received-- for well over a decade-- I've never encountered this level of incompetence. My previous provider, though wonderful, retired, and the difficulty of finding a provider accepting new patients was what led me to Access. First appointment seemed normal enough, although it ended with a "drug test for insurance purposes" I later found out was patently false. My insurance does not request drug tests for my medications, and standard practice for these in the first place involves a urine test. Theirs is a saliva test...that they called me to come in and "retake" a few weeks later because they "sent it to the wrong lab." Combine that with my follow-up being cancelled less than an hour prior to the appointment, with not a single message on the patient portal, and the fact that my provider just...forgot? to send in one of my prescriptions at all and the office never responded to my pharmacist's calls, I was starting to feel frustrated but gave the benefit of the doubt when I was directed to the refill line upon calling and told I could get my meds the next day. That day came and went. Another day passed, and my pharmacist still had received nothing, and was getting zero response fax or call. I was about to travel out of state in roughly 48 hours at that point. I had a good cry about it-- that's the tricky little detail about mental health that Access seems oblivious to, it's a sensitive thing-- and had a loved one fortunately get me a referral in to see a provider at different establishment. Long story short, I had a provider put me on a completely new class of meds after the first appointment, with the understanding that we'd meet again to follow up and assess whether it was working for me-- only for the appointment to get cancelled right before, having to drive across town to get another unexplained drug test to boot, and being unable to access my medication period, let alone discussing the finer nuances of whether a controlled substance I'd just been put on was having any adverse effects. I'm a pretty forgiving client, all things considered, and it takes a lot for me to get upset at providers navigating what is ultimately a deeply flawed system for everyone involved. But this? This is just negligence, and I can affirm basically everything people have to say about them in their reviews on any site. Maybe the first sign I should have heeded-- apart from these reviews-- was the fact that the practice is labelled "chiropractor" on GPS apps. Turns out their behavioral health services are every bit as sketchy as that dubious field of "medicine." Their hours on Google, Apple Maps, and their own website are completely wrong, by the way. We were referred to Cori Arena APRN from PAA and she was supposed to take over care for our child. We had an initial meeting that went well and a second remote follow up appointment two weeks later, in which we discussed not wanting to pursue a gene swab test she recommended at this time. By the end of the meeting this practitioner had decided that she would not take over care for my child and discontinued all previous prescriptions cold turkey. She told us that we needed to seek care somewhere else. Coming here was less than helpful and quite frankly a waste of our time and resources. Access wellness? Not so much! read more

I went to Access Wellness for years. The odd male at the reception desk was always an experience which had opportunity. Dr. Michaelman was very nice. After he retired I saw Evelyn Parrish. Getting a actual appointment was absolutely impossible. Getting refills for medicine was equally as bad. At one point I could not see Evelyn due to impossible scheduling logistics. I saw Cristi Carter instead.. simply to get refills.. nothing more. During the session she demanded I take a drug test, sign paperwork stating I would continue to do so regularly. I found this odd as I had already taken the medication in question for close to two years at that point. When I questioned Carter about this she got very defensive, pounded her hands down, stood up looking down at me and stated that she pushed back another appointment just for me. At that point I decided to leave and I never went back. Definitely do not recommend. read more

I'm going to make a very long story...short. I enjoy my Dr. but the staff behind the phone and at the desk, not so much. I'm going to try to not go into to much depth, but there was an error in my prescription refills and I really needed to get through to somebody to make sure this issue could be taken care of because I did not want to stop taking my meds cold turkey. I called and called, left messages, and when I finally got through to talk to someone they quickly sent me to another voicemail. I had already left enough voicemails at this point and I knew they would be closing soon. So I called back again and again, finally somebody picked up. When I talked with Andrea, I let her know that I was very frustrated and needed more info than she was giving me. I needed to know when I could get my meds. I was very stern when I talked with her, the same way a male is on the phone but apparently when a female does it, that means she's crazy. Andrea told me she would call me back. Two days later, still hadn't hear anything, (5th day with no meds). I called left a message, no response. So I called again the next day, finally got through and passed onto Andrea. I asked her what was going on with my medicine? This was her response: BECAUSE YOU WERE RUDE TO ME ON THE PHONE, I DIDN'T RELAY CERTAIN MESSAGES. Excuse me? Mental health is not a GAME! Making sure a patient gets their meds is very important. And this receptionist purposely was punishing me, because I was rude (also known as using a stern voice). And when I went on to tell her that this isn't a joke and that it is very serious, and mental health is not something you just decide to play with.... she hung up on me! Andrea, you work at a Mental Health Care office, you are going to be dealing with some different personalities and emotions. If you can't handle it leave, because getting back at patients by purposely denying info and prescriptions, is the last thing a person who has mental health issues needs! If you worked as an EMT, and you didn't like the person you were going to go rescue, would you purposely take the longer route there to let them suffer longer? If you saw a car sinking in the lake, would you wait a couple minutes and then decide to call for help? I recommend my Dr, but I would also be worried to do that because unless the front desk changes, going to this facility is actually a big liability on your own mental health. read more

This place does not care about their patients. Terrible communication between the doctor and the staff. Forget trying to get medications on time without a massive hassle. Please tell me why they require to drug test my 9 year old child every 2 months? Why? They sure won't... read more

It shouldn't get one star. I cancelled one time due to car trouble. They said I cancelled 4 times which isn't true and wouldn't be able to reschedule me. It took weeks to finally get ahold of someone after numerous messages left. I never got a returned phone call. Please don't waste your time. Very poor customer service and very unprofessional!!!! read more

This is my honest opinion. I don't recommend this office for any psychiatric care. Other than the receptionist, everyone else is in a bad cranky mood. Some of the Doctors treat patients like they are incompetent and speak down to you and have bad manners to boot. Very strange, very weird, very bizarre, very unprofessional behavior. It appears they need to treat themselves before they treat others. Beyond this twilight zone experience you will find the building itself is in a neglected state, the offices are depressing and dirty complete with burned out flickering lights in the lobby. Prozac is required to simply walk in this dungeon of torture. If you have mental illness, you are probably better off than the doctors that work there. I'm just saying. read more

I have been going to Access Wellness group for 10 years for various mental problems. If it weren't for them I would have jumped off a bridge a long time ago. I've seen three counselors consistently and they are all caring, professional and very good in their field. I do not think it's fair to write such a bad review after only one visit. It's shameful but I hope you find what you're looking for because you seem like a very hard person to please. Good Luck. read more
