He took X-rays and spent a significant amount of time thoroughly testing to find the true cause of my pain. He determined that the issue was nerve-related, not dental, and told me that a root canal or surgery would not help. Instead, he advised me to see a neurologist. Thanks to his recommendation, I was quickly diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia and, because it was caught early, now have a strong treatment plan. I had an emergency visit with possible root canal or extraction options. I called and was able to get in same day. The doctor saw me and was willing to fit me in that same day (an hour turn around time) to complete a root canal. The doctor has fabulous bedside manner. Very calm, caring and smart. She was clear to explain her reasoning of why I should do one option over the other. The office staff was extremely friendly as well. Admin staff was easy to work with and friendly and explained everything I needed to know and prepare for procedure. In my day of service I was pleasantly treated and felt more like a friend getting personal attention and not stranger. Dr Sprague and his team were kind, GENTLE and very patient. All steps were detailed and they did everything reasonably possible to make me comfortable. It has been years since I had a root canal and it seemed as routine and tolerable like a common filling. I have never felt so cared for and treated so well. I hope not to have such a procedure again, but know it will be with Access if I do. As I was leaving Florida for the summer in Maine, I was told by my dentist that I needed a root canal. I researched endodontists on line. Dr. Sprague came up. His on line reviews were excellent, to the point where I was wondering how they all could be so good. I live an hour and a quarter north of Dr. Sprague's office in the summer. I called two local dentist offices to see where they send their patients, and both said Dr. Sprague. This is going to sound like the other reviews. He is excellent. I couldn't even tell how he applied the pain killer at the outset. It wasn't a needle and I didn't feel anything. I had no pain throughout the two hour procedure. He struck me as a very caring individual. He was also very patient as he went about it, explaining what was going on at each step, more so than any other dentist that I've had. I realized it was hard work to find all the canals and seal them up. He had the most interesting x-ray equipment. You sit in a chair and it rotates around your head. They showed me the superior difference in the views from that as opposed to the standard x-ray. The office was also very easy to deal with. Access Endodontics is above the rest when it comes to excellent care for their patients. I had to have a root canal done, which I haven't had in the past and not the biggest fan of going to dentists in the first place. However, the comfort started as soon as you walked through the door. The look and feel of the facility and the friendliness of the staff allowed you to feel comfortable and at home. Smiles, laughs and just an overall feeling of relaxation. The process to get ready for the procedure was simple and easy. The staff and I were able to joke and have fun, yet get things done. Once Dr. Sprague entered the room, his calm demeanor and bedside manner were top notch. He not only made you feel comfortable, he explained everything he was doing to make sure you were fully aware of the process. As you can imagine, needles were involved and usually the dentist shakes the daylights out of your cheek and you still feel the pinch of the needle. Dr. Sprague prepped the area and with such ease he injected the Novocaine into my cheek without even a slight pinch. Something you don't see or feel very often. His technique should be shown around the world. It was nice to actually be at ease with the needle. Not that I ever want to do another root canal, but if I do, I know where I'll go and I would recommend him to anyone. Especially those that are not comfortable with dentists and people working on your mouth. You will certainly come out of it having a different outlook on dentistry work. Dr. Gregory Sprague of Access Endodontics and his staff have it together in all of the important, meaningful ways. From calling to ask for information, to walking in the door, to the clinical side with an assistant, and Dr. Sprague, I was felt welcomed into a friendly, kind environment, and felt confident that I had picked an outstanding endotontist office. I am in my 70th year of life. In all of this time, having undergone archaic dentistry in the 1950s which was painful and frightening, I have a great deal of anxiety with dentistry. I bit my first dentist when I was about 4 (and happy to report I have never bitten another). Because of very negative dental experiences at a young age, this anxiety even affects teeth cleaning. I get sweaty palms 100% of the time....until today. A very first! Dr. Sprague is so very kind and informative. He showed me the x-rays and explained everything, including things that might cause trouble (happy to report that they did not, and I credit this to his expertise). All through the procedure he kept me informed, what he was doing, where he had gotten, and how it was going. At the end of the procedure, they took more x-rays so I could see the repair! I've been unfortunate enough to need three different root canals in my relatively young life, all in different states and with different doctors. Dr. Sprague would be my unreserved recommendation of the bunch. His equipment was significantly better than that of top professionals I've used in NYC and Los Angeles, and it made the procedure more comfortable. His chair-side manner is courteous kind and friendly, and his staff worked hard to help get my semi-emergency taken care of incredibly quickly. Dr. Sprague went out of his way to complement the crown on the infected tooth, recently done by a previous dentist, and to make sure I understood that the root canal was not a result of that previous dentist's failings, and I should use him again if needed. That struck me as both professional and kind. On top of all this, it was very affordably priced, and they worked with my insurance with almost no effort from me. You never WANT to be back at the endodontist's office, but if I have to visit another, I sincerely hope it will be Dr. Sprague's. read more
