I saw a slide 14K slide mount on the internet and called James and Williams store to inquire about…read morethe piece. A young girl named Melanie helped me. Their advertisement said it was a 14K yellow-gold bezel. I asked 3 times if it was solid gold or hollow. Melanie said solid. After I received the item I looked for the 14K gold stamp; there was none. After receiving the piece I called Melanie back to again confirm 14K solid yellow gold, she was quite snippy and rude. She reneged stating only the bezel was gold and the cage was not solid gold. Why was it advertised as 14K gold? If the bezel was indeed Stuller I am sure it would have a 14K gold stamp. Not a lot of integrity here! I've worked at a jewelry store. I know what a loop is, most stores have testing equipment to determine gold authenticity. I would never do business here again.

Disappointed in the quality of the ring setting we got from here. Noticed an issue of unpolished,…read morescratchy prongs underneath the diamond and on the sides of the prongs. We immediately went back and were assured it would be fixed. They told us it would take a few days because they needed to remove the diamond to get in and polish the metal. Seemed odd since we came in with our own stone to be reset and the new setting from here was supposed to be custom made prior to setting our stone, but we let that go despite the confusion on our part. The next day we were told the ring was ready to be picked up and my partner collected it. When he gave it to me, I again noticed the ring was not up to par and the scratches were still visible. I called them to ask why they didn't remove the diamond and polish the prongs, and was met with lies and hostility. Vince told me they "didn't have to do that" and was very disrespectful on the phone telling me I need to "know my place." He seemed disproportionally upset and irate; perhaps he was having an off day. Ultimately, my partner and I decided against dealing with them any further due to their unprofessionalism and will be purchasing elsewhere. (We noticed additional issues including the diamond not being set properly, and I can't imagine Vince dealing with any more criticism!) TLDR- Stay away if you have a high attention to detail and expect great customer service, because they sure don't have those qualities here! Such a shame.

To preface-i live in the western suburbs and come here for the classes. I do buy beads on occasion…read morethough mostly I get them online or from craft stores closer to me Their classes are great :) usually 2-3 people and one instructor, i have taken the wire wrapping and the stringing classes and learned to do a proper crimp, discovered soldered rings for closures, and learned how to wire wrap loose stones. I have been beading for a hobby for ~3 yrs and learned a lot online, but nothing beats someone watching you directly and giving hands on feedback. I tried to wire wrap many times but couldn't before taking the class, now I have a small bowl full of stones I wrapped on my own. The beads and findings are good, they have a decent selection of African beads, crystal beads and others but mostly I like stones (they do have, but in my opinion their stones are a bit pricey compared to online or other shops). I do like their loose jars of beads, you can fill a 'shot glass' of random beads for a few bucks which is neat if you want some unique shapes for focal beads. The neighborhood is cute and theres a nice coffee shop around the corner. Theres a pay by plate lot across the street and i havent had to hunt for parking. They are a bit of a quest for me, but worth going to for the classes

Mark still has some of his father's designed pieces. Everything is of the highest quality. I took my broken engagement ring to be fixed and Mark went above and beyond. The ring, over 100 years old, was so precious to me and he treated it very lovingly. Not only did he re-solder the two detached diamonds, he slightly re-designed it, reinforced it and cleaned it in such a way that it's an entirely new ring! I was afraid that the ring would never be made right, but he made it better! Whether you need a new piece of jewelry, a re-design of an old piece or something made to order, this is the place. Highly recommended.
