ULL feels like a scam. The administration doesn't care about anything or anybody besides athletics…read more& money, hence the reason they are in debt. The students that goes here faces alot of things such as molded dorms, overlooked attention, housing is never on top of the work orders that are put in by students & a lot more. If something is needed to be fixed in an on campus apartment, it takes for the parents to constantly call in order for something to be resolved. No matter how much the student puts in work orders, still nothing gets done. Summer/Fall move in was in June of this year & my friend noticed that the microwave in her ON CAMPUS APARTMENT was unaligned, she's still waiting for her work order concerning that to be completed & fixed just like the vanity light in the bathroom & a swarm of fruit flies that SHE has to deal with because no one from housing is doing ANYTHING about it. June-December is ridiculous. Also, her dryer has been down since late October early November & nothing has been done about it. We're in December, what the heck is taking so long for anything to get handled? Maintenance, took the knob off of the dryer, didn't notify her nor did they repair it. Just left the screws on the floor & went about they day. Multiple work orders put in, no accommodations nor fixation, but always want their tuition paid on time. Check on your students mental health, it's so much that goes on at this university that gets swept under the rug. UL, do better as a university, instead of worrying about handing out parking tickets & building a new stadium, it's starting to be a headache.

They tell a lot of jokes here, but nothing has made me Laughasofyette…read more This University brings a lot of kids from around the state to Lafayette and a lot of colour to town with their redness and brightness as it were. There's a lot of local pride for the school around town, more so than in a lot of other cities, and for this reason I think it's a great school, and it does a great job rallying the community and what not.

I was able to receive a lot of great information, and I could tell they really care and value your time in your future! They also provide a wide variety of program so there is a lot of career versatility on campus!

Investigate thoroughly how you are investing your time and money. First and foremost Unitech is a business. Like any business, it is designed to create as much revenue as possible. The student comes 2nd. None of the "teachers" I encountered had any prior educational or training experience. They hired individuals with a clinical background. The teachers are underpaid and overworked. They are required to teach both day and evening classes. This is the first time I had ever encountered this model. Most institutions hire part-time teachers for the evening classes. The greatest complaint that I received from the students "they felt they were not learning anything". With that said, most of the students were not disciplined enough for the academic environment they had chosen. They would show up at anytime during class, were not prepared for the lesson, and many disrespectful. Since most of the teachers did not have an academic background, they were not prepared to handle the situation and would allow disruptions. Thus, the student was not being prepared for the real world and allowed to participate in an environment that would perpetuate failure. (1) When seeking an institution of higher learning - make certain it is accredited from the United States Department of Education. http://www.ed.gov/accreditation This is the accreditation that employers will ask for and businesses expect. (2) Calculate per academic hour the cost. You will find you are paying about 4 times (or more) than necessary for your education. Again, I strongly suggest you do your homework.
