So much fun! We rented one of these 4 seaters to roam around Bar Harbor and more easily tour Acadia National Forest as a group. We didn't want to take a tour bus or van given that we've been to this area a few times and know it pretty well. This rental is an amazing option. Easy to navigate around, and it was a fun way to travel the park and town. I made a reservation and paid online within a few minutes. Super easy. We then met a representative at the port exit in Bar Harbor who directed us to the garage a few blocks up in town. Beautiful day and not a bad walk. The vehicles themselves are zippy and fun. You get a quick tutorial before leaving the lot, but they are basically souped up golf carts. You are not going to get them going faster than 25mph, but that doesn't really matter because they make getting around so easy. There's even a map that is velcroed to the dashboard for reference, and they assured us that the carts have GPS too in case you wander off too far and get lost. Honestly, I don't think that was ever a risk because Bar Harbor is so easy to navigate. These little vehicles are so great for the streets around Bar Harbor and exploring all over Acadia Park. Rented prior to arriving in town. What we didn't know was if all the vehicles aren't rented for the day, and it seems to be common, the price drops dramatically. But by reserving, you're stuck with a far higher price. Also, much of Acadia National Park can be accessed by Route 3 but that's forbidden on the Gem vehicles by speed limit, which leaves you circling same areas repeatedly as many parts you can use are one way roads. The workers are kind but quick to say they are hired by far off management and have no control over anything even policies they don't agree with. The vehicle is fine, a bit rough riding, but not bad. On days cruise ships are in port the price is triple for a rental unless they don't all get rented, then they go down read more
