This is a great place to learn clay pigeon shooting, the instructors are really friendly and they have a number of different layouts for you to try when you've built up some confidence and skill. It's worth becoming a member as you'll get free tuition, although you'll need to remember to bring ammo with you if you're an experienced shot. If a shooting club can be as incompetent as follows would you shoot there? Phoned AC Sporting Targets on Friday and the conversation went something like: "Hello, I would like to come tomorrow with two experienced shooters and one novice." "OK, the Novice will need a lesson, it costs £40." "That's fine, do we need to book?" "No, just turn up." "OK, See you in the Morning." Arrived on Saturday morning, went to the desk and the conversation went: "Hello, I rang yesterday, two experienced shooters for some sporting and a novice." "The novice will need a lesson before shooting." "Yes, I know, we discussed yesterday." "..." (blank look) "Can we arrange the lesson then." "If you want, but we ain't got anything until 16:00." "Are you serious? We you told me on the phone yesterday to just turn up." "..." (blank look) "Forget it, thanks for wasting my morning good bye." We went elsewhere, I was fuming! AC Sporting Targets is a great place for a number of reasons. Shotgun shooting is basically what this place is all about. Personally I don't shoot shotguns so I don't go there for that. What I do go there for is the Air Rifle Ranges. There are two outdoor ranges, one at 25 yards and the other being 60 yards. Both being undercover in the shooting area, so you never get wet. There are over 300 targets to shoot on the large range and you are still able to put your own targets up if you wish to. There are still plenty of targets on the shorter range as well. Great friendly people running it and many people go there for the social side sometimes more than the shooting. I am unaware of the prices for the shotgun shooting but for air rifles it's £15 for the day. If you were to join the membership you would actually join the shotgun club, but that enables you to use the air gun ranges. You would need to bring your own air as there is no compressor to fill the bottles with. Apart from that a great place for a fun day shooting, be it with shot guns or air rifles. read more
