The staff remember them. There is a new infant and this time the American Nonna joined the nuclear family for the newborn's first outing. The setting amid vineyards, fragrant gardens, and sculptures in a renovated estate is premier among the settings I've been privileged to frequent in Italy as "Nonna." A spa with full services accommodates adults - providing the best deep tissue massage that either female in the party has ever had (sampled from East Coast to West Coast and all regions in between in USA). While this elegant establishment caters primarily to adults (predominantly Italian with a smattering of tourists), the welcome to children is extraordinary. L'Albereta teddy bears were placed on their beds at night for the wee ones and an entire wing is devoted to a children's playroom equipped for all ages (WII gamesets to Duplo blocks). An enormous indoor warm pool provides pool play for the parent and child - next to a well equipped exercise room. And the wines and food! Three different restaurants, and our babies were welcomed. Marvelous!

The parking is 10€ per day on outdoor parking or 15€ for garage. Rooms: Even though the furniture in the rooms is a bit old, e.g.the night stand has an old school radio, they are well maintained and really clean. The tv in the room is really small, but there is a great view on the balcony to overcome this issue. When we got to the room, the fridge was not working, and it was fixed quickly after we notified the front desk. There is a safe in the room which requires a key, it does not come standard in the package. Nearby Activites: You can bike to Malcesine, take the ferry to Limone, and bike around there. There is a great path leading north that goes across the lake. The view is amazing, just be aware you are sharing the path with pedestrians. Walkability: You can walk to nearby restaurants and a grocery store. For most stuff I would suggest you get bikes (you can get them for free from the hotel, first come first serve basis). Food and drinks: Breakfast is included in the price, served from 7.00 to 9.30. It was one of the better hotel breakfasts I had. Good coffee, sparkling wine, a ton of mini sandwiches, fresh fruit, veggies (cooked tomatoes, eggplants...) a large selection of breads, chocolate/cream/pistachios croissant + a whole bunch of other sweets, cheeses, cold cuts, eggs, sausages, bacon...

The Hotel Drago is right on the Lake and our room had a beautiful view but since the main road runs right next to the Hotel the noise level was pretty high during the day; however, at night traffic decreased and it didn't bother our sleep. The hotel was comfortable but the food was mediocre and the staff was a little grumpy at times. Most of the guests appeared to speak German and the Hotel seemed oriented toward German speakers. Most of the staff did not speak English particularly fluently but communication was possible. The Hotel itself is a bit dated but everything is in reasonably good repair. Although I have stayed in more modern and luxurious hotels in Italy, I would not hesitate to stay in the Hotel Drago again if I were ever back in the Lake Garda region.

An Exceptional Cycling and Cultural Experience "Exceeded…read moreexpectations" is an understatement. The hotel is in the heart of the city, walking distance to many shops and attractions. The team at Lake Garda Bike Hotel and Andiamo Cycling delivers an experience that is truly extraordinary. The staff goes above and beyond, seamlessly overcoming language and cultural differences while providing impeccable customer service. From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in the beauty of Italian culture: both past and present. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the warm hospitality and comfortable accommodations to the incredible food and wine that enhance every day of the experience. The cycling guides; Davide, Giusto, Simone, and Matte were outstanding. Their passion for the region is contagious as they share local history, traditions, and cultural insights with genuine pride and enthusiasm. They also know exactly where to stop for the perfect mid-ride break, including some of the best pistachio croissants and espresso you'll ever taste. The West Lake Garda route, featuring the ferry crossing and the climb to San Michele, was a definite highlight of the week. The top notch Pinarello cycling fleet; gravel, road & e-bike is well maintained. Erica welcomes guests to breakfast, Marcel and Caterina invite you dinner as though they are part of the family. Caterina's warmth, energy, and excitement while describing each meal make every dining experience memorable. One evening, she introduced me to an exquisite selection of local cheeses, each with its own unique character and story, adding yet another layer to the cultural experience. The cuisine throughout the week was both diverse and exceptional. Every meal showcased the flavors of the region, and it was impossible to leave the table hungry. Beyond the daily dining experience, the hotel also organized a winery dinner and wine tasting, gnocchi cooking class, and a boat tour, all of which further enriched the week. Lake Garda Bike Hotel and Andiamo Cycling offer much more than a cycling vacation--they provide a complete immersion into Italian hospitality, culture, cuisine, and community. If you're looking for a world-class cycling holiday, this is it. I would return without hesitation and highly recommend it. Without question, it ranks among the top five vacations of my lifetime.

If your considering booking this place and the price is right-- DO IT. This was the best hotel…read moreexperience I've ever had. Here's our story... My wife and I suffered from a tire explosion on the highway (without a spare!) while en route to Venice for her 30th birthday. Due to some complications with the rental agency, we were stranded without a place to go. We thought our Italy trip was ruined. Everything changed when we found this place. Christian, the late night front desk man, spoke fluent English and made us feel at ease. He booked us the last room available, poured us a glass of wine and welcomed us to our room. Our eyes lit up as we walked through the immaculate hotel with patios, gardens, and the pleasant sound of birds chirping. This happened just before midnight and I could not have felt more welcome. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was spacious and the bathrooms came equipped with a shower and tub. The wifi is super fast and the breakfast is AMAZING and hands down the best and most options of any hotel breakfast I've ever had. All included! Luckily for us the rental agency picked up the tab but knowing what we know now-- I would not hesitate for a second to book a room here. We stayed in #54 which I believe was a suite. Right near the train station, rooftop patio with a lake view and the friendliest staff you could possibly imagine. I love this place.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights unexpectedly. We were on our honeymoon AND it happened to be my 30th birthday. On our way to Croatia, our rental car's tire blew out. Long story short, we were stranded all day and I was getting pretty bummed that my birthday plans were going to be ruined (I was turning 30 at midnight). For some reason before we arrived at this hotel everyone we dealt with had been confusingly mean to us. By the time we arrived at Piccola Vela, I was in tears. Usually, I never stay at hotels without Yelp reviews, but I had a feeling about this place... and I'm so glad to stay my intuition was right. Piccola Vela was supposed to be booked up due to an event, but by some divine grace, one guest never showed and a room became available. Piccola Vela and its staff saved my birthday experience. This is the kind of hotel where everyone knows your name and goes out of their way to make sure you're accommodated. The breakfast was huge and the food was so delicious. They had everything you could hope for in a breakfast and more... The scrambled eggs were probably the best I've ever had, there was fresh fruit, muesli, pastries, all kinds of coffee / cappucinos / teas, a huge selection of very high-quality honey... I could seriously go on and on. They brought out nuts and crackers while we lounged by the pool and brought a cheese and olive plate when we ordered wine. The alcohol was surprisingly cheap for this caliber hotel. We never ordered dinner, but from what we saw and heard, their restaurant is also amazing. The atmosphere is also awesome. It seemed as though there were all these little nooks to hang out in everywhere you go. Last but not least, the man who helped us was probably my favorite person in Italy. If you stay here, get to know Christian. You will be glad you did. :-)
