I came to LifeStance after getting hosed by "Precise Behavioral" (see my 1-star review)…read more LifeStance was a breath or professional fresh air after the AI-runaround I got at Precise Behavioral. LifeStance was on-the-ball: they calendared me with both a nurse practitioner and a counselot right away - so I was seeing both within a week of onboarding. One micro-glitch to look out for: each LifeStance office has their own portal, and they look almost identical - so if you have a NP at one, and a counselor at another, you'll need to keep track of which portal to use for each one. (I do that by forwarding the relevant reminders to myself with location labels in the subject line, for example: "Riverside" for my virtual therapist there, and": "Marina del Rey" for my Nurse Practitioner. Again, that's so I can find & use the correct portal to look for messages, and to check in a day ahead for appointments. The other great thing about Lifetance is they accept more insurance than most other mental health providers. So if you have less-accepted insurance, try here first! My brother also goes here for his own personal therapy, which also makes it convenient if/when we need to do family therapy - win-win! Give them a try - chances are they'll help solve your problem, much faster and more affordably than most other options. Be well!

I wish I read reviews before going with Lifestance Health…read more Now the psychatrist I was using was excellent but everything about Lifestance Health from the beginning was a bit of a mess. Slow scheduling, their clunky portal, and the lack of replies was all manageable until my insurance changed in January. I followed up many times but their insurance verification is backed up they tell me, so I wait, wait and wait more for them to verify. I'm not sure why the verification keeps taking months & weeks. Blue Cross Blue Shield even gave me a number for them to verify directly & quickly. It's been months and nothing. This is very dangerous when you are dealing with mental health issues and medication. I told them I was about to run out of medication, I told them I ran out of medication - they did not care. The VERY SLOW speed of Lifestance (as evidenced in most of these reviews) is really reckless and dangerous for mental health patients. The repercussions of people with mental health issues not having medication can be fatal. Lifestance does not care for some reason - they are in the wrong business for sure. There are enough well functioning places to not have to deal with them. Go somewhere else.

I cannot imagine anyone going to this office in need of actual help because the staff is absolutely atrocious. I wish I had the courage to stand up to the bullying and abuse I experienced after my father's sudden passing from every single person who worked in this clinic. There was legitimately only 1 therapist who took the time to check in on me at work and understood how difficult it was to work in such a place while trying to grieve. I'm glad to hear it's owned by a different company, but if any of the doctors and staff are still affiliated with this practice, then I would avoid it all costs. I should have sued for wrongful termination and still would if it were within the statute of limitations.

Why I chose a Psychiatrist over a Psychologist is because their MD specialty allows them to teach their patients about the science of the brain and its effects and connections to the body and to the emotions. In addition, they share recent studies and their own research with you in order to help you understand your dilemmas and/or condition. Dr. Penciu clearly understood my dilemma and immediately began giving me tools to reach resolve. He has excellent bedside manner and I highly recommend him. Sincerely, Christine G. Padua

It's funny, a lot of people hesitate to speak to a therapist because they feel "they are fine." Yes, you can be fine, but you still have the capability to learn, grow and broaden your ways of thinking. Little did I know... I'm all about insight and perspective - Jessica flows with that. I've told her certain things I'd like to work on, my hardships, my good times, and moments that were challenging for me. I'm not going to lie, these conversations were foreign to me because I've always been the type to talk to others about how they feel, not really ever about how I feel. She genuinely cares about the shifts I want to make in life and guides me through it - it changes the game! Jessica has a powerful energy that really makes you want to conquer goals that you're working towards. She is a wonderful listener and gives the right amount of challenge to better my ways of thinking, being, and reacting. She is there any time I need her, judgement free, ready to deliver. I learn more about myself after every session with her, and am grateful to have found her especially during this crazy time!

At first it was hard to open up but her caring demeanor made me open up and she helped me through my process. I saw her once a week for a year and have moved to seeing her every other week. Havening techniques and other techniques have helped me (someone who defaults to over-intellectualizing) get out of my head and into my body which I've found is imperative for healing emotional trauma. With all that said I'm really here to share my experience with the Neurofeedback training done with Rebecca Turner. Having done so much healing and reprocessing through talk therapy, I still felt that my thought patterns were like a hose turned all the way up, whipping around, unable to catch, and control, soaking everyone around me. The initial brain mapping (which is done first to know what areas of the brain to target for training) reflected with tangible data what I was experiencing inside. Ms. Turner described it to me like "your two hemispheres are yelling at each other" which turned out to be one of the most validating things my brain has ever heard about itself. The neurofeedback training process itself is not as complicated and/or intimidating as the name sounds. If one is doing eyes open training, you essentially attach some small sensors to your head using a conductive goop and watch a tv show while the screen brightens and dims in response to the information collected by the sensors and neurofeedback program. For "eyes closed" training, you listen to lyric-less music while the music adjusts the volume to help train your brain. And it all works. I feel good about myself. Shame is now a passing emotion instead of a state of being. Rumination is down ten-fold as my hemispheres aren't "yelling at each other". My thoughts and feelings don't control me as much and/or send my on a downward spiral. If you are someone who feels your emotions are often become too much for you to handle that even standard therapy couldn't alone help, might I suggest neurofeedback?
