We were only in town for a few days and found this place on Yelp. I didn't recognize any of the acts ahead of time, so it was a bit of a gamble, but 2 of the 3 comedians were absolutely hilarious - and they were "no-name" locals! The club is quaint with nice decor. Best bang for your buck!$ Great people, organized, clean, welcoming. Good food. Good variety on the menu. Good portions. Strict with reservations but they have every right to be. Any night of the week this place is PACKED!! I have always had someone in my group Cry laughing so hard here. You may get the odd non funny comedian, but usually it's 90% great comedians, especially on the more expensive nights. Show up when seating starts, don't dilly dally, trust me. My only problem with this place is the management. The owner is rude and provides horrible customer service. They are not willing to admit fault or apologize and seem to blame the customer for any issues. Other than that the place is great, staff are nice and comics are usually great. I think that management is aware of how well they do, considering that they are sold out almost all weekends so they don't see the need to provide better service. Also, their policy on the dinner also does not make sense. If you make a reservation for the buffet dinner and someone doesn't show up, they still charge you for that person. This policy makes sense for the show since that is a seat that would normally be taken by another person but for the buffet it doesn't. I understand that they make the food based on the number of people they expect but one or two people will not affect the amount of food you make for a buffet. read more

I've been to Absolute Comedy many times and with the exception of one visit the customer service is excellent! Comedians are often very funny and the food is great and presented fresh and in a timely fashion. Great prices for the show you're getting! read more

Just attended the Sunday show at 8:00pm. I don't think I've ever laughed harder in my life. The comedians were incredible, the freestyle comedy was the best. I 100% will be returning and recommend everyone visit this place. read more

I have been to absolute many times and this time had a Bad experience. Show was going great then about half way through this couple behind me started to talk. It went on for about 5-10 mins. Tried to get attention to a waitress to ask her to tell them to stop talking. Finally a waitress comes by and I tell her. Another 5 mins go by the couple is still talking Rudely. I put another complaint with the waitress. Again the couple doesn't stop. Bouncers do nothing to stop the rude couple or even kick them out. Literally couldn't concentrate on the comedian as all I could hear was the drunk couples conversation behind me. Something needs to be done about the lack of respect in this place. You pay money in order to see a show and then you go only to be hearing disrespectful peoples conversations behind you and nothing gets done about it. It's not a bar people. You don't go to a comedy show to have a conversation. You go to listen politely to the act performed on stage. read more

I'm the husband of the last comment on this page I went to the Absolute Comedy once before with my wife. Had a great time "dinner and show". Today, I called to reserve two seats for dinner and show (hopping to have fun and laughs with the wife again like last time). I called and gave my credit card # to reserve for the same night. On the net it clearly stated Wednesday 6:15 8:30 $17 $20 Thursday 6:15 8:30 $20 $23 Friday (early) 5:45 8:00 $22 $25 Friday (late) 8:15 10:30 $22 $25 Saturday (early) 5:45 8:00 $24 $27 Saturday (late) 8:15 10:30 $24 $27 Sunday 6:00 8:00 $20 $23 We arrived at 5:45 and the door was locked. We saw a man inside; he came to the door and went to get the manager Jason. Jason came to the door and told us that they should have called me because the dinner buffet was cancelled, but told us we could come in. We where told they had no server and someone would take care of us in five minutes. Jason said he would take 25% off the dinner part for the screw up, but we could have something from "la carte". We sat at a dirty table, no drinks, listening at the vacuum cleaner and waited till 6:35. We told ourselves that this royally sucks and we where starving and decided to leave. I told Jason to forget the whole thing cause we where going to do something else tonight. We ended up going to eat a couple doors down at the Black Cat. I went back to the box office after our meal to make sure I would not be charged anything because they had my credit card number. I was greeted by Jason stating he would charge for the show. I told him that they had broken the reservation by not being ready for us for the dinner and we decided not to see the show because of all this. He would not listen to reason. He kept on saying he will charge me for the show. I got very irritated by the way he was treating me. I do not think it's a way to treat customers after you screwed up. Well ends up the jokes on him. He could have been reasonable and not charge my card. I called my credit card company and got my card cancelled. It's a drag because I have to wait 5 to 10 days before they send me another one, but at least they will not get a cent from me now or ever. It's too bad for the comedians cause last time they where great, but the management and the PR sucks. DO NOT EVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER AT THIS LOCATION. Jason is a real idiot, has a lack of communication skills, not a reasonable human being. I will probably go back one day if this jerk is fired. read more

I've been here many times with a large group and there comics are always great. I have never been disappointed with either the host or the headliner. The headliner last weekend was AMAZING. I've noticed though, the intermediate acts are sometimes a toss up but for the most part are very good. My fiancée went two days in a row and headliner and host were able to change their acts. Some were amazing with there interactions with the audience. Always guarantees a great night out. read more

The comedy was great. The staff's service was excellent. However, the owner Jason Laurens nearly destroyed the evening. I'm surprised he's still in business with his horrible customer service skills. I've never been so appalled doing business with anyone before. I organized a birthday party for my wife and made great effort to keep the club updated with the fluctuating number of guests. I was reminded over the phone several times that I'd be responsible for any no shows and I had no problem accepting the terms. Minutes before the show, I'm summoned to the box office and berated for not having all the guests. Instead of just subtly asking if he could charge my card for the missing seats, he made no eye contact and in an accusing tone said he could have sold those few seats many times over. I had him charge my card for those. After the show Jason taps me on the shoulder with a $700.00 bill in his hand demanding to know "what was wrong with the service and what's wrong with your cheap friends" in his approach to finding why one table hadn't tipped his staff. So, I told him it doesn't sound like any of our friends to do something like that and that I had nothing to do with it. I showed him my paid tab with 15% gratuity, then lifted up several more bills from the table -- all with tips. He didn't apologize when I showed him that. It was another table's issue. So, after bringing 40 plus guests to the show, I was insulted several times by Jason and will never return again. Neither will our friends. read more

I got kicked out for laughing too much? Maybe it was because I ordered a plate of nachos and it took over an hour to get them. There was no consistency in the wait staff and when I asked one of the waiters how the food was coming after an hour they seemed perplexed. I said that if it wasn't already on it's way out from the kitchen to cancel it because my friends and I would be leaving in 30 minutes anyways. 5 minutes later , no nachos and no waiter to be found. My friend asked another waiter if there was any resolution to the situation and got a similar response as I had earlier. 10 minutes later the nachos came. I got up to use the restroom and on my way back to our table got accosted by a bouncer who told me I was too loud and had to leave. Funny, since my friends and I hadn't been talking since the comedy had started, and had only been laughing at the jokes. The bouncer pushed me with his belly and threatened to call the cops if I didn't leave right away. I asked if I could grab my jacket and he wouldn't let me. My friend grabbed my jacket for me and the guy just about pushed me down the stairs. So, I do not recommend this place at all. read more

This negative review has nothing to do with the comedians. I am writing regarding the manager of the club. My husband and I reserved for dinner and a show, arrived at 5:45 pm , and the door was locked....at 6 pm the cook came to the door and informed us that there was no buffet and no servers. The manager approached and talked to us without makinfg any eye contact , told us to come in (while still talking on his cell phone). We sat at a dirty sticky table for a while, waiting for someone to clean the table ,,,didn't happen. At 6:35 we decided to leave ...we were very disappointed to hear the manager refuse to cancel our dinner and show and arrogantly insisting that he would charge our credit card..All and all ,stale nurs in the vending machine, dirty tables, no food,no drinks, no servers, arrogant rude and defensive manager that made us wait and treated us with disrespect . I advise everyone to not reserve for dinner and a show. I am never going back.( ottawa) read more
