History
Established in 2010.
In 2010 we began work to create a new hostel in beautiful Queenstown. We took over the old Thomas's Hotel on the lakefront and gave the town something it was crying out for - a brand new, fresh, exciting option that would suit every need without breaking the bank.
We are a family-owned business and spent 3 months living and working on-site in the existing building. Not a surface was left untouched, and we brought some life back into the old girl with an all new design, catering to solo adventurers, families, couples and groups. The first few years were a learning experience and we listened to our guests . We decided that an upgrade had to happen! In came a new Kitchen, TV Room, Beds, Shared Bathroom and Laundry Facilities.
In 2019 we decided we could do even better - enter Absoloot Hostel QT! A brand new name, brand new logo and swish new website to appeal to the guests who are after the Absoloot experience; Adventure, Atmosphere, Experience, Location, Views and Smiles.
Meet the Manager: Chris M.
Chris from Newcastle, England, has been in and out of our lives since the inception of Absoloot back in 2010, teasing us almost every year with a drop-in or 2, moonlighting as a housekeeper and general rad individual. That started to get tiresome after the 4th time - we don't like goodbyes - so we figured we'd better keep him around a little more consistently, so say 'hello' to our Hostel Manager!
Chris loves New Zealand as much - if not more - than the rest of the team, and he's also probably the most well-traveled of us as well, so we figure he probably knows what he's talking about.
He's been around the block a few times in NZ, and is a cracking photographer as well - you can check out his NZ-based work on our instagram feed, and his photos adorn the walls of our private rooms too.
