The pine was very close to the house, and the new bushes were underneath it. Naturally, I was worried. On the scheduled day, P.J.'s Tree Services' truck got a flat tire. Despite this, they still showed up and, while having it fixed, did an amazing job! P.J.'s team (Jeremy and, I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name, but to me, you're a rockstar) is friendly, highly skilled, hard-working, and extra mindful of their surroundings. When the trees were gone, the hollies and our house stood tall, and everything looked clean as if nothing had happened. The crew not only raked both yards and the driveway, but the owner of P.J.'s Tree Services came for a final inspection and, on his own initiative, even cleaned our gutters! I walked over and asked how much it would be to trim a couple of small branches off my Maple tree. The neighbor's spruce tree fell past it during one of the wind storms this summer and took off some of branches on the other side leaving it lopsided. Justin told me they generally don't take jobs under $200.00. So maybe around $100.00? He got his pole saw and said he would come take a look. By the time I got my checkbook he was done, and the tree looks much better. He met me at my gate and let me know there would be no charge. What he didn't know was that Dale and Jeanie Beavers are the people that helped get the spruce tree that fell off my driveway and car port this summer. They did excellent work both times so when I needed non-emergency tree care, I have called them three more times. I am impressed by their knowledge of tree health and their attitude toward the trees themselves. Dale and the other workers are friendly, polite and hardworking. They always haul away all the cuttings and leave the worksite neat. I have complete confidence in them. Competent tree service is expensive but I think it is worth it to get such reliable service.

We agreed on a price and I asked when he'd come out to do the work as I'd be out of town a bit. He assured me once they could get me on the schedule I would be contacted. This did not happen. I came out of a camping trip on a Tuesday after no cell service since Friday evening to find text messages from him that they were done with the trimming (from Monday!) could I come outside and look at their work, and payment was needed. Shock and upset raced thru me as I read these messages, hours from my house to be able to see what had transpired in my absence. I was never contacted, nor did I consent to them entering my property that day to do work. I'd made clear to Rob when he did the bid to tell me when they'd put me on the schedule. When I told him this he apologized and said it was a miscommunication with the office. His miscommunication is my backyard being entered without my permission and trees being cut to a degree that the shade lost will take decades to grow back. The work they did was excessive and irreversible on old trees that took decades to grow. I am shocked, upset and unhappy with the entitlement that took place on my land while I was out of town. I truly don't understand how someone would think it's okay to work on someone's land without their knowledge. In no way do I feel good about my experience with them.

I am very pleased. I have a 120 ft rock retaining wall to repair this summer, which will cost more than my 1st home purchase did, and these people were willing to work with me on costs to take down a tree, and some other clean up things, as the wall will consume everything I have for repairs this summer (and likely more). They showed up to work when they said they would, and got the job done very well, and hauled off all the branches. The fact they were willing to work with me was so impressive, and a lot of contractors these days could learn a good lesson from them on how to retain long term customers, and just be an old school human being and Montanan. I understand they have costs to cover, which I am sure are as outrageous as everything else is these days, and our negotiated price was fair for both them and me, which is as it should be (but often is not anymore). Barring any unforeseen circumstances, and there are plenty of those these days, I will have them back out next summer to do the rest of my property (after the wall is done). So, next summer (I hope) they will have a large job to do, but I will always support being treated fairly, even when the cost is large because the project to large.
