We called Able Concrete because there has been some erosion around our front concrete steps. Mark came this morning (right on time - the hour we were given, not a window) and told us our concrete was in good shape and all we need is a little masonry work that can wait until Spring. Since we know nothing about concrete, he could have told us anything. We are very grateful for his honest assessment and kind manor. Don't hire these guys if you can!! WE needed the driveway and the front of the house done this year- ABLE was the only company that agreed to do the job this summer. I saw them work in the neighborhood and this is how I hired them. Unfortunately I didn't talk to the neighbor before I hired them... The concrete work itself is not so. bad. However there are other issues (1) They took a 5,000 deposit; cashed the check in a day and took 8-10 to start the job--. Every time I called the office the staff acted like they never heard of us-- (2). They waited for months before they even begin asking for permits. They seemed to have problems paying the permits and the township and county tried repeatedly to reach them before they reached us to clarify. His staff lied repeatedly about having sent out permit requests only to tell us later they didn't... (3). They damaged our property: The landscaping was severely and carelessly damaged because they didn't have the correct size escalator for my front corridor-- they have been completely disrespectful about this and said ``damage was in the contract". (4). Still getting an estimate on the landscaping but the owner of able showed up at my door today claiming that full payment was 18 days overdue (the job is finished 10 days ago! and we haven't driven on the concrete yet!!). This guy is certainly not a professional-- just this behavior tells me he is never parting in good terms with his clients.. Here is our experience: Our old 4 car driveway was a busted up mess. We hired Able Concrete to completely replace our driveway. They removed the old one and I noticed veins of clay ridges in the sand base. I mentioned my concern and they told me they would make sure the base was good for our new $6,000 concrete. The put down some more sand but did not do anything about the clay ( I stayed home and watched them work). Now here we are 18 months later with two of the six slabs cracked down the center right where those clay lines were. We called them to come out and look. They did come out but told us it had a 12 month warranty and this was just first heave to be expected. Our neighbors for eway is 8 years old and it doesn't have cracks. Our other neighbors drive is 4 years old and it doesn't have cracks. Wish things had turned out different. read more

I shopped around for my porch replacement project, and received quotes from a number of contractors. I chose Able because I expected a bigger, better name to give better service, even if it cost more. I was wrong. The work itself was good, if not excellent. But I had a number of service related issues (delays, property damage, etc) that leads me to the conclusion that I would never select Able for any future work. The salesperson was professional and informed. He arrived on time and gave me an immediate quote. I submitted a signed contract along with the down payment, and waited. And waited. Weeks later I discover the check had been cashed. But no work, no call, nothing. Then after I called them, they told me it would be done within 5 days. The next day, the porch was removed. And then I waited. Two weeks later, I called and after getting bounced around a bit, talked with the scheduler, who started off the conversation with "What's the matter? It's not like the house has only one door." Then after realizing he had insulted me, apologized and said the work would be done in the next two days. It wasn't. It took another week. Yes, once the work was done, it was good work. But in the process, they destroyed my front lawn, which I was promised would not be driven on, and two landscaping beds on each side of the porch were torn apart. All the time, the house has been for sale, and I wasn't able to show it because A) it didn't have a front porch and who wants to buy a house without a front porch, B) the house has no appliances because I couldn't get them in the house due to the front door being the only way to get them in the house. And now the front yard is destroyed, with little hope of getting seed started this late in the year. But to top off the whole situation, I have to say, I'm not at all surprised to report that since the work was complete, Able has called me for the final payment twice a week. My elderly mother used ABLE to replace her driveway in Lansing. The driveway concrete started cracking within the first six months. She contacted the company and they have ignored her emails, letters and calls. DO NOT USE!!!! read more

I am very dissatisfied with the workmanship in replacing my driveway. In less than a year, the left side of the driveway began cracking. Now the right side is crumbling and cracking and Able Concrete has failed to accept responsibility for their poor work. I do not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Able Concrete did a large patio at my home in 2011. They did a fantastic job in a hard to do area. At least I thought it was hard to do. They didn't make me feel like they didn't want to deal with me due to me being a woman like others I had recieved estimates from. They are truly a wonderful company to deal with!!
