Awful. I won't go into a narrative, so I'll just bullet point:…read more - room directly across the street from night club (maybe specifically ask for one that doesn't share a street with "The Atik".) - no outlets next to bed or in bathroom - PAPER THIN WALLS ... we could every bit of the conversation happening in the next room at 5:30 in the morning...just a few short hours after the pounding club music finally died down) - bed was broken, tilted as a result - wall paper coming off the walls - no chair for the desk - no towel wrack in bathroom to dry towels - no trash can in the bathroom - no hair conditioner - only two flat pillows provided (Admittedly, some of those last things are minor, but when it was on top of the rest, it was frustrating.) Some positives: - Great location to city center - attached to the hostel with a kitchen and mini fridges available

The hotel is super close to the train station which was really convenient as we had just come up from Edinburgh. Incredibly good rooms for what we paid - Our bathroom was super modern and just like the pictures on the website. Brand new tv - so new it still had some of the plastic on it, but this was fine for us! We will defintely stay again next time in Aberdeen - highly recommend

This is a nice simple hotel with a fantastic location, in the middle of everything. It's a short…read morewalk to Union Street and all the shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, and bars you could want. The rooms are modern and clean. The only real gripe I can come up with for the room was it was hard to find electrical outlets. There's not one in the bathroom, there's a couple in the hall that are a tight fit because of the shelf, and the rest are along the floor. To get to the one under the desk I had to crawl under the desk. A power outlet or two on the desk would be nice. There's not any room service, but there's a restaurant on site with limited hours. Even during these hours it seemed sometimes hard to find someone in the restaurant. There's so many great restaurants in the area. Check out Nargile and Paldino. Next time I'm in Aberdeen, I'll gladly stat here again.

Regardless, Hilton Garden Inn at Aberdeen City Centre was an excellent place to stay for my trip to the Granite City. Clean, nice staff, comfy bed. My room had a rain shower which was awesome and a HUGE bathtub which came in handy when escaping the mid-50 degree weather of July (who knew those words would ever leave my mouth, err, fingers...). The restaurant on site has a buffet breakfast every morning which is very fresh and tasty. The location is also close to the hustle of Union Street and not too terribly far from Union Square, which seems to be the transpo hub for northeast Scotland. For the money, there is not a better place to stay in Aberdeen City Centre.

We went in for afternoon tea one Sunday. We had booked a table but instead of being sat in the nice…read morebit to the left we were taken to the right. The decor was tired and not to my taste but it was the food that I based my opinion on. The sandwiches were dry, unseasoned and slightly stale. The afternoon tea came out in record time so maybe they get pre-made and sit out. Next I had a scone which was really, really dry. I never bothered trying a cake but I was told that they were okay. We had cocktails afterwards which were lovely but I wouldn't go back due to the food.

The Carmelite Hotel is apparently where all the locals go for afternoon tea. Upon arrival, I could…read moresee that quite large parties (a couple dozen) could be hosted here as well as mid-sized and smaller parties. All the parties seemed to be enjoying themselves, and quite a few had special decorations set up on the table for their parties' arrivals. The room decor was not anything decadent or airy; rather, it seemed to be in stately darkly stained wooden parlors. The food was passable, and interestingly the tea could have been substituted for coffee. Interesting. What made this a memorable experience, reflecting back, is the piano player. I think he was hungover, which is kind of hilarious. However, he had an amazingly huge repertoire of show tunes and other old standards. My dad and I were nearly in a contest to see who could recognize the tune the fastest or who knew the most lyrics. As we are huge music lovers, this was quite the event for us. As we left, my dad complimented the piano player which made him lose his place entirely (way to go, Dad). I will give three cheers for the wait staff who found my purse that I had accidentally left (jetlag is a pain) but recovered it and kept it safely until I was able to return about 90 minutes later to retrieve it. Excellent integrity there.
