Interesting reading all the other reviews. My very first impression of the store was walking in and…read morean employee literally cutting us off by walking in front of us in a huff. A few steps later we were greeted by, who I assume is the owner; it wasn't overly warm, but it was a typical store greeting. I love these types of stores regardless that the most outdoor things I do are walk my dogs and sit on my back porch, but while I'm in them I can dream of doing all the things you'd need a store like this for. This store is pretty big and it is PACKED full. The prices are typical of every other similar store I've been in. We weren't approached by anyone else, but that didn't bother us.

We live in Southern Pines and try to patronize the local small businesses downtown before trying…read morethe larger chain stores. I have visited River Jack outdoor trading company twice. The store is small and crowded with equipment and outdoor products. the first time it was a busy Saturday and the employees in there seemed a little bit frazzled when I was asking for help with an item. My last visit wasn't much different except I was the only one in the store and the woman there didn't seem interested in helping me when I was asking her about hiking shoes. She quickly dismissed my inquiry and told me she didn't think I'd have anything that would work for me. I purchased over $300 of apparel for an upcoming trip but walked out without the one thing that I needed. I strongly believed that if the woman would've taken a minute to show me the room with nothing but hiking and outdoor shoes I would've found something. Not sure if she was the owner, but I couldn't imagine an employee brushing off perspective buyer. Not sure I will return . I went to Halfmoon outfitters and they were very accommodating and assisted me with purchasing other items I needed for my trip.

I took it to Roberts 15 minutes before…read morethey closed on a Saturday evening and they had it ready for me first thing the following morning. In addition they only charged me $30 for the shaft and the work. I'm pretty sure I would have paid twice that much or more where I live. The store doesn't have an enormous selection of goods, but they are locally owned and clearly put an emphasis on service.

Went here and bought a Club a used 46° to replace my pitching wedge. The selection of clubs is…read moregreat and the pricing is very reasonable. But my girlfriend and I caught a weird vibe from the workers. It was Robert and another guy wearing an Irish golf cap unsure of his name. But I first picked out the club I was going to buy and it had an old timey leather golf grip, like something Bobby Jones would've used. I was wanting another MCC grip that matched all my other clubs to be put on the wedge. They both gave me a scuffled look like they didn't want to do that. They were persistent that this was a $50 golf grip and that I should keep it. It is not what I wanted and they were not very fond of me changing the grip. Robert eventually let me do it, but was very judgmental about it. I then wanted to see the different options available of grips and politely asked if I could walk to where the grips were. He gave me a pretty stern No. I understood, but overall was a weird interaction. Got my club and it was good work, But the workers interaction with me rubbed off the wrong way. Would Not want my girlfriend going into this golf store alone to buy me something. 2 Stars.
