This way, I could at least understand the movie and have some fun on my free time. At first, I went there to see specific movies. But then I began attending the Sneak-Previews a.k.a. surprise movies. Most of the time the surprise movie is a good one and not always a blockbuster movie, which in my opinion is good. The best thing about the sneak-previews is that many times I get to see and enjoy a movie that I would have never seen, if I had the choice. For me the sneak-previews had a strange side effect: I got hooked :D (in a good way). I find it very exciting not knowing the movie that is going to be shown. This is awesome: You buy the ticket, grab some snacks, take your seat, and just go with the flow and enjoy the ride! I would like to thank my Austrian friend who presented me this place.

They play a variety of original language films as well as German films. Prices are not bad here and whilst the place is slightly disorganized I quite like coming here. Happily come back here for a movie anytime.

Their claim to fame is that they have the a long running showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show with all the trimmings. I really like all the snack options! I would gladly visit again.

Our seatmates chatted their way throughout, so I guess that's how that's handled! We loaded up on Beck's (they only seemed to carry 'big brand' brews) and rather un-warm sweet popcorn and hung out at a table in the fairly cool-looking bar/concession area before being allowed to enter the theater close to start time. The theater itself is lovely-looking with red, plush seats, and, interestingly, beverage carriers not at the end of seat arms, but rather a bit up off the ground in front of you. We sat and drank and looked toward the thick, deep-red curtain in front of us. I kept expecting an organist to pop up from the center of the stage and play us into the start of the show. If one is going to catch a (German language) flick in Munich, then one would do well to do so here. This place is a well-preserved gem from another era.

They take care of your coat and you pay nothing. They offer you a welcome drink for free. You walk into the cinema and find extremely comfortable seats. Recliner seats with a foot rest. On request you will get a blanket. A waiter/waitress delivers your drinks and snacks. Snacks are not coming in bags, nope, they have them refilled into little plastic cups with a lid. No sounds of people chasing down the last popcorn in a plastic bag. Before the movie starts the manager comes up on stage to welcome his guests, says a few words and wishes everybody a great movie experience. I'm willing to pay a lil more for an experience like this and not sittin squeezed into tiny seats with no room for my legs.

I must confess that I haven't been to this theater before they renovated it...so I can't compare…read moreold and new...but this place is really something for movie lovers! The tickets cost a little bit more but it's definitely worth it! But let me just start at the beginning... You come in and see dark scarlet rugs (fluffy long hair) on the floor and white walls. The lighting is very cosy and lounge like, just like the music they play in the background. You are pointed straight to the cloakroom attendant that takes the coat for you so you don't have to have it hanging around in your seat. After that you get a welcome drink...which I didn't expect and think is a nice treat. You can now just stay in the "foyer" listen to music and talk or go with you drink into the theater hall. The hall is gorgeous! Scarlet walls, grey carpet (also fluffy), nice relaxed lighting and really really really comfy seats! (See also pics) So, first the seats. They have really enough space to wobble around freely! If you think those seats are to small you should check and see if you need a diet... Anyway you have a footstand to put your feet on and you can swing your backrest back a little (don't worry about the people behind you, there's enough room...really). You also have your own little table and a menu card. After you seated yourself and looked at the menu, which has normal stuff like popcorn, chips, softdrinks etc. but also neat stuff like olives, tea, champagne, whiskey and something they call towers (a plate tower with different stuff on each plate), a service member comes right to your seat and you can order what you want and they bring it to you. Prices are actually normal they didn't make those extra expensive. So you see, it's no problem if you come a little earlier...I would actually recommend it! Now that you are set up, the curtains open and they show a little history of the gloria palast which is cool and instead of showing some advertisement they show a short movie (changes). I'm pretty sure they start that way in case people do come a little later and still want to order something. Anyway I enjoyed that and I totally support the idea showing short films. The screen and soundsystem is probably all new (surroundsound 7.1)...if that means anything to anybody...I thought it was great and I really enjoyed sitting in those seats all relaxed with my feet streched out. Anyway, if you love the movies and you are willing to pay a litlle extra for extra service this is the place to be!

Seems buggy to me at best (don't try it with a non-standard browser). it also asks for too much data and tries to make you a "member". The phone reservation system is even worse: totally unusable (no humans but a machine of course) Contra: - very crowded - expensive - service is so-so - mostly popular titles shown, not many indie movies, not many foreign languages - the crowd can be a bit proletarian, people talk or dont switch off their mobiles (which hurts my movie experience) - lots of ads shown before the movie
