It's not just restricted to food though, there are some cracking bookstalls and a few craft ones too. This is where I discovered Paulo Coelho, I'm in debt. Now, to business. Traditionally there are three days a year in which Dun Laoghaire stops hovering on the verge of crap and makes the great leap forward into being the greatest place in the world. The Festival of World Cultures, although it's just two days this year(29/30th Aug), is the best weekend in Dublin. Sun, sea, hippies, pints and banging samba drums all for free(except pints of course, but where there's a will...). It's pure awesome, and the Park is one of the festivals main hubs. Love it.

It boasts some cute little tearooms and one of the few Sunday farmers markets on the southside (though I'm open to correction on this one). There's a mellow buzz in the air during the market and even if you're not hungry, you're sure to snack on some of the fudge, falafel or fruit that the traders have to offer before leaving. Tends to be happy families in here on a sunny Sunday and there is often some impromptu entertainment in the offing too. It's picturesque and nautically themed with a boat overflowing with flowers at the entrance.

I walked here all the way from the hotel I was staying at - Hotel Clayton. The walk was quite nice, the park is located near some quaint neighborhoods. There are several entrances to the park so it isn't hard to miss. The park goes across streets so you have to cross certain parts of the park in order to fully see the WHOLE PARK. They have a bunch of flower beds that are really pretty as you walk thru the park. There is a little pond area where swans populate - I saw a couple people feeding them but I now know that isn't the best thing. So just FYI; it doesn't help them if you feed them. Even during a weekday - the park had a lot more people than I thought it would. And it was a gloomy day too - but let's face it - it's Ireland, it's gloomy sometime during the day everyday. lol. All in all - a great park!

The only thing that takes this down from a full rating is the sheer amount of litter that is dumped into the canal. Not cool. Stop it. If you're by the Rathmines area of the walk, visit the swans. There are, last I'd counted, over 50 within a single stretch of the canal - you can't miss them, and you'll commonly find a swarm placidly nestled along the sidewalk or gobbling the bread people throw at them. They don't get ruffled if you walk close to them (and if they're being fed you may have no choice in the matter), but please, resist the urge to pet them.

The sea safari pushes these boundaries and takes you out the Liffey and lets you view Dublin from a perspective that most people miss. The craggy rough coast along Dublin is breathtakingly gorgeous. The sea safari runs tours from Malahide, as well as from the Docklands and gives you different touring options. The cost of the tour (€35) is a bit pricier than your standard dublin bus tour, but it's also much more exhilirating and definitely much more unique. During my tour we got to go into a sea cave, that despite being to the sea many times, I had no idea existed. There's also the opportunity to view all the sea life that live in Dublin bay, like seals and porpoises. The ride is not for the faint of heart though as the wind blowing in off the sea can cause the water to be quiet choppy, but when operated right the rigid inflatable boat is quite smooth. You are also provided with all weather gear that protects you from the wet and cold, though I would suggest bundling up with as much layers as possible. If you've been to Dublin before and are looking for something a bit different, or you love the sea and a bit of adventure this tour is definitely for you!

Economic with the use of backlands beside the Luas station and between Victorian lanes and 1970s apartment blocks, the park is an elongated pond with some pleasantly leafy spaces at either end. Come in and feed the ducks, the pigeons, even what looked like a water vole when I was in there... Maybe opt to get a take-away from Diep Noodle Bar and feed yourself too. Like any good city park, it manages to feel sufficiently open and enclosed all at once.

You have to pass under a massive stone arch to reach this place, and the result is a "secret…read moregarden" feeling. At first. Deeper, the park opens up a good bit and is overlooked by apartment blocks. So the secret is spoiled. But in return you get a lake sporting swans, ducks, and surprisingly large fish. I'll call it a fair trade. If you can catch a few moments of sunshine, this is a reasonably nice spot to grab some lunch. There are benches set around the water, but people tend to prefer the grass embankments that rise away from the pond. From up high it feels like you are in a stadium where people have gathered to watch to geese settle their differences. So, that's fun.

It's super big, spacious, dog friendly, with dog parks, with a nice kids playground, football (soccer) areas, flower garden that's open every other Saturday, and they also have a cafe named Olive Room Cafe in the center that's open daily. Additionally, they also have a market and food trucks every Saturday (except new years). I often go here with family to relax and enjoy a nice beautiful walk throughout the park

Lucky for us, St. Anne's Park was nearby and was the perfect place to unwind. Others have already talked about the long history of this park and how vast (266 acres) it is. So I will just say that it's beautiful and worth the visit. I especially liked the Rose garden and I don't feel all girly for saying it. I swear the actual rose garden area was more length and width then a football field. Each bundle of roses were as bright and colorful as if they just blossomed. I couldn't even come close to pronouncing half of their names but it was kind of cool to learn that they had some instead of you know Red, Yellow, so on. Oh and a red squirrel tried to take my hat, watch out for those little thieves!!
