False advertising ~! Twice now I have gone in and things were mislabeled. The store is clean and…read morehas a large selection. You will also notice a lot of things are labeled are specials / discounts. A couple months ago a 12 pack of beer was labeled as like $9.99, it said "12 pack" on the label. It rang up as $18 or so, so I had them check, and the manager said somebody had mislabeled it. They didn't honor the labeled price and seemed unable to acknowledge it was their mistake. No desire to make it right. Today, I noticed the Maker's rang up at a different price from the advertised one and pointed it out. I only noticed after I'd paid and went to check. The person working didn't even ask me to bring the label or go verify for himself; one can assume this happens frequently there. Instead of refunding me the difference, he offered to void the sale and do another at the actual price. I told him I didn't trust them to not just charge me twice and that they can keep the money (that's the whole idea anyhow, no?). So I indicated this has happened before and it seemed like it was part of their business model -- advertise a bunch of fake specials and just count on people not checking the price. He was adamant that it's super rare. I said I haven't had this issue elsewhere and he was incredulous. I asked how is it that fraud is so common elsewhere but so rare here? The math / logic / experience doesn't add up. They are way too proud here and need to be a lot more honest and have a much more expedient way of refunding people money they're stealing as part of their business model. Avoid at all costs, pun intended.

First thing I noticed is that the name is accurate--they are very much a "spirit shop." They have an adequate variety of wines, though if you're on this side of town, you'd do well (or better) to take your search to Dorn's, and they don't have much in the way of beer at all (Gator Beverage is the place to go for beer). Prices are pretty reasonable, and I found more than one liqueur that we drink a lot of priced at a rate $2-3 cheaper than most other stores in town. I also found meade here (!) but it was about $4 higher than the ABC on Newberry (see, I told you I go to a lot of liqueur stores!), so I left it behind. I did note that they have more than one brand of meade, which really surprised me. For a long time, Chaucer's seemed to be all you could get around here, but they also carry Bunratty. I was pleased to see that they carry multiple Moscatos, one of which was a Mondavi kept behind the counter. I may be returning for that bottle in a few months. :) Note for people like myself who walk: you will be given your purchases in brown paper sacks that don't conceal the entire bottle so that you can look like a true wino when you leave the store. Bring a reusable grocery sack along with you!
