11/18/24 My dad rented me my 1st unit at Abbys way back in Dec 2002 (not a typo) when I was forced to move up here from my beloved hometown in LA County. Ive had to have several units at Abbys (long story) & Abbys was great until ...... THEY WERE BOUGHT OUT BY THE EVIL, GREEDY, UBER CAPITALISTS CALLED "STORAGE PRO" SOMETIME IN 2021. The FORCED insurance really p*s**d me off plus they tacked on all kinds of other pointless fees AND then ... raised the rent by almost $20.00! That was just the 1st of MANY more excessive raises to come! I think my rent has been raised 5 times in just 2 or 3 years. Greedy Storage Pro just raised it again about 4 months ago. In 2020 I was paying a reasonable $134/month. NOW I'M PAYING $215/MONTH WITH NO PERKS! I'm on a tiny fixed income as it is, & to my horror in this Post COVID Greed Era I can no longer pay all my bills nor make ends meet. The unnecessary c*** pulled by Storage Pro is NOT helping!! My stay at Abbys was never meant to be permanent - but you know what they say about "making plans." I've tried to get a smaller unit at ABBYS for years. Now I want to get the h*** out of Storage Pro completely! Whats holding me back: 1. I suddenly got VERY sick in 2021 (cancer) & am now bedridden 80% of the time. So, I cant go there & start condensing things so I can move into a smaller unit at a more REASONABLY PRICED facility closer to where I live. 2. Im on a tiny fixed income & now have NO disposable income. So, I have no money to pay movers. I guess I'll be stuck at that awful, greedy Storage Pro with 4 rent raises per year for the remainder of my life! They are just bleeding me dry & sucking the life right out of me! Rock & a hard place indeed! The only way I'll get out of Storage Prop is if a miracle happens! And with the way things have been going since 2017 . That's not likely! ~~ What really infuriates me is that Storage Pro is a NATIONAL CHAIN & they treat ALL of their customers like this. My recommendation: STAY CLEAR OF ABBYS/STORAGE PRO & THEIR SISTER FACILITY ON THEATRE DRIVE IN PASO! There are plenty of nice, clean, secure facilities - with both indoor & outdoor units - to chose from in SLO County. read more

Will never do business with Abby's Storage again. Read the fine print of the contract!!!! They NEVER mentioned you need insurance on the storage then 4 months later they send an email stating you have to have insurance by a certain date. If you don't comply they will charge you via their insurance which is around $13 a month. When you prove you have home owners insurance that covers the storage they raise your monthly amount of rent by $10 a month and when I questioned them about notifying me before raising my monthly rent they stated they sent me an email. Well I never recieved an email. My understanding is the facility is under new ownership or management. Not the way to treat people in a small town!! read more

Avoid. They set prices then go back on them saying the employee who quoted was wrong. The one lady in there is so overly rude makes me want to drop my payment off in the mail slot to avoid her. Will be moving my stuff to a different storage place due to this. read more

Moving up to SLO we needed a secure place to store our items while we House hunt. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The facilities are clean and secure. The sign up process was very easy and the online payment portal makes things very easy to keep on top of our monthly payments. Happy to call them our storage place! read more

These people running this place don't know what the other person is doing or saying, one person tells you the check is in the mail for almost 2 months, then No one returns calls for days, they took my elderly parents money but couldn't bother explaining why they wouldn't/couldn't return what was owed which was a half of a months rent. They didn't explain in the beginning that you don't get money back. This is not the way to do business. If this is your typical procedure that needs to be clear before any arrangements are made and papers signed to those in need of your storage. read more

I was shocked to see the only other review on here is one-star, so I HAD to take moment to post a review & fix that! Our family has been using Abby's for over a year. Access is great, communication is timely and accurate, and having a secured gate system is a definite plus. We checked all over the county prior to booking our unit(s) & found Abby's prices to be the most reasonably priced for comparable space. Management has always bent over backwards to assist in any way they could--when we needed an extra unit they even helped my elderly father out by "timing it right" with another move-out so that he got adjacent units. They are wonderful gals--very friendly & accommodating. The units are very clean, as is the entire facility. On-site restrooms are a huge plus, too. It's sad that the one-star reviewer had a bad experience, but I can tell you from our family to yours that Abby's is responsible and reputable--highly recommend. read more

This is my first time to use a storage facility and I must say how pleased I am with Abby's Self Storage. My storage locker is brand-spanking new, clean, secure, and shiny. The ladies who run the office are so very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Nadine was especially helpful and clearly explained the contract, rules, and all I needed to do to begin my big adventure in moving here from the Bay Area. Kathleen was also great and cheerful. So were the puppy dogs in the lobby. And they even have a bathroom for their customers, which was a delightful surprise after driving for three hours. I highly recommend Abby's for their helpful employees, and top-notch drive-up storage lockers. read more
