Hired for my April 2015 wedding, I liked the portfolio, and package pricing. After speaking with…read moreRay I was happy with quick response times and decided to hire him. But I should have seen the red flags. Once I indicated that we were going to hire him, for a wedding that was a year in the future he became aggressive in contact until he had a contract and deposit. He then contacted me to set up our engagement shoot, which was part of the package. At this point it was early June and we scheduled a shoot for early September in Galveston. When the date I requested fell on a week day he inquired as to why we chose that date and I said it was because it was a far less busy time in such a tourist area. He then said he was just wondering because he typically schedules them on weekends and that was fine. I then said that he needed to come with pose ideas because we had no idea what we were doing and really needed him to lead in that area. Which, that should go without saying, but I wanted him to be very aware of this. Fast forward to August and I get an email asking when I planned to make another payment on my package because my engagement session was coming up. I was irritated because even though I planned to make payments along the way, his contract is very specific that when you sign you pay the deposit and then the remainder is due so many days prior to the event you booked for. Nowhere does it state that there is a payment timeline, or that parts of your package will not be executed without additional payments. But I let it go and made another payment. Now that I look back it annoys me more because that was the first indication that he did not understand or honor his contracts. Because we live in Conroe we traveled to Galveston the night before our session and stayed in a hotel on the island. My fiance took the following day off of work, and my children and I missed school to be there. Ray emailed me and asked that I call him after 5 PM that evening to discuss the next day's session. Instead of reaching out to me, I called his "office" number from his emails. That evening he called us around 8 and said that he was worried because he never heard from us. Turns out his office number doesn't have a phone hooked up to it. He then went on about how he took a day off from work for this and how he "didn't have time" to pick up the props he planned to use so if we could, we should pick some up to use. He then asked again if we had poses planned and I repeated that no, we were depending on him to style the shoot. He said he would "try to figure some stuff out before the shoot." He also mentioned that he had done no research on our location and wasn't familiar with it at all. He also said that he felt that because he never got that call (because his phone received calls and voicemails but he had no phone connected to receive those calls or messages) that we had changed our plans. What professional books an appointment and then expects to hear from the client again but then assumes that they cancelled, instead of reaching out and confirming automatically? The next day he was late, and when he got there he wasn't professional in demeanor or dress. He was confused as to how to pose us, where to shoot and where we should even be in respect to obstacles such as the sun. It was completely disorganized and frustrating. I provided all of the suggestions on placement and then we had to ask him how we should stand for every single photo taken. The session was much shorter than what was included in our package because I got sick of dealing with it. When I asked when the photos would be ready he stopped to think about it and said, "Well, I'll have them ready in two weeks." So I confirmed a date and then asked how we would handle getting the photo files so that we could order our save the dates with one or more images. He again needed time to think about it and actually said, "I think you've paid enough at this point that I can release one or two images to you." When we saw the images we were beyond disappointed. I then received an incredibly inappropriate sexual text message that he accidentally sent. The photos were horrendous so we wanted out of our contract. Terminating our contract was easy, but he refused to refund our overpayment. He would not honor his contract terms. He billed us over $800 for the engagement session, including his hours from his day job, his mileage to the shoot, etc. I wanted to sue him but our attorney felt like it was fruitless and that our money had been spent which is why he couldn't pay us back.

He was able to make me feel comfortable and was at all times 100% professional. I have decided to be a repeat customer as his prints of my shoot was superb. We had our wedding here almost a month ago on Nov 4th. They had several options to choose from but…read morewe wanted the barn for the ceremony and reception so we elected to do the barn flip. They also provided a list of great options for food and bakery items. I will say the tastings were better than what was delivered at our wedding but that's not against Moffitt Oaks. Melissa, our coordinator, was fantastic and always responded to texts quickly. All of my guests loved the venue and said it was so romantic which is exactly what I wanted. The selections for table cloths, decorations and chargers was amazing. You could get any look you were going for. We opted for floating candles, and small box flowers and candles everywhere. It was perfect. They also assisted with last minute photo booths and a last minute DJ swap. There were a few hiccups along the way but nothing they didn't resolve quickly and professionally where they could. Can't wait to have all of my photos to show off this gorgeous place. As a man, I like my eyebrows to stay thick and natural, not thin and not shaped like a woman's eyebrows. I even showed her a picture of a man with thick eyebrows so there would be absolutely no confusion. Despite that, she completely ignored my instructions and ended up messing up one of my eyebrows by making it thinner than I asked for. When I pointed it out, instead of listening or acknowledging the mistake, she started arguing with me and insisting that I was the one who was wrong. That level of unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. If you're providing a service, the bare minimum is to listen to your customer and respect what they ask for. Instead, she kept contradicting me and making excuses instead of taking responsibility. I went there because of the positive reviews, but my experience was the complete opposite. She clearly does not listen to customers and does not know how to handle eyebrows for men. I would not recommend this place at all. I didn't let her finish my other eyebrow and left without paying, never coming back and glad of what I did.

The Top Choice team told me they would show up around 8:30am to drop off. They were on time, very courteous and so helpful!!
