On my visit, only on VVG piece was left at the foundation. In fact, there was more to view in the gift shop than in the museum. That said, it wasn't a complete bust. The walk from where I had parked through the winding alleys was charming and the foundation itself has beautiful facilities. Nevertheless, probably best to not plan a trip there in the winter.

While this museum only houses five Van Gogh paintings, we thoroughly enjoyed all of its exhibits. The Fondation is a new, modern building (with modern amenities) situated amid the picturesque streets of Arles. There's a nice courtyard and spacious galleries. When we visited, there was an exhibit on a Georgian artist--Niko Pirosmani--and it was fascinating to see the art of near contemporary of Van Gogh's (with a parallel life story) in the same space. There were a few other artists as well, but we liked the Pirosmani stuff best. Bottom line: if you want to see a bunch of Van Gogh paintings, go to Amsterdam. If you're interested in art in general, and want to celebrate its many iterations, then this museum is worth a visit.

They have strict restrictions on photography, which they take very seriously, so adhere to the strict rule during your visit or risk losing your phone or camera. Very close to the waterfront and a great place to tour inside as well as the outside for stunning visuals. As for ticket prices, I cannot comment on those since my husband handled all of our reservations and admissions throughout the trip.

One can imaging the light cast upon the pieces which can be found in many of his works especially his still life pieces. The building houses a gift shop and is surrounded by a garden. Beware, besides mosquitos ... the studio is set in a hilly residential area with no street parking. Parking is several blocks away - uphill or down (with a subsequent corresponding descent or ascent upon the return!).

When we approached the front door we were told by the first person to greet us that the exhibit was closed. We explained that we had driven an hour to get there and would stay for just a short time to respect the 6pm closing. He then points us to the main check in/register area. I approach and are told that the exhibit is closed. I explained the situation and the person was just intransient. He said he could make no allowances and I could tell that he could care less that we had made an extreme effort to get there. It wasn't as if we were there at 10 minutes before closing. We have had very good experiences with service people on France on this trip up to today but found his attitude to represent what I have heard about civil service workers or officials in this country. He could care less about service and just had an attitude that I am done and don't want to be put off. I'm sure he could care less but I need to post this to ensure that others don't make the mistake that we made. Don't expect any leeway at all!! It left me with a bad feeling and I will be telling all that I know through posts and conversations about this bad experience.

A very nice collection of Roman funerary items and some impressive floors. The highlight of the museum is the restored commercial barge that sank around 50 AD while still loaded with a cargo of building stone. It really is amazing! The majority of signs are in French only, but there is an audio guide available that has a nice sampling of items in other languages.

We went through the little security check point at the entrance to the museum, then wandered through the exhibits for a little less than an hour. It's a rather small museum and none of the signage is in English. We found a little theater where they were showing how the long boat on exhibition was excavated. It had subtitles in English and was very informative and interesting. Other than that, it was a lot of pottery and Roman ruins. I did like the mosaics towards the end of the exhibit. I mean, it's a cool museum, but not that worth it in my opinion.

Un hôtel particulier (édifié en 1665 pour le duc de Vendôme pour plus tard appartenir au peintre Jean Baptiste Van Loo) surplombe les pelouses et les haies parfaitement entretenues. Il abrite un petit musée où l'on peut y voir une collection de meubles et de tableaux du XVIIIème siècle. Un petit square pour enfants jouxte le parc. Les jardins sont ouvert de 9 h à 17 h 30.
