There are two bars, one of which is the sporting area and holds the telly and dart board and is kitted out in dark wood throughout. The other bar is comfier with cushioned chairs and stools, lots of beer paraphernalia on the walls, there is also a real fire which is extremely welcoming on a cold winters afternoon. In the summer you can use the beer garden at the rear which is surprisingly large given the location. It is worth noting that at lunchtime, food is served noon until two, but its best not to get there too late. The food is uber-traditional, from excellent soup and sandwiches with home-cooked ham to more substantial dishes such as lasagne, and just about everything comes with excellent chips. As mentioned above the beer is varied and is also kept exceptionally well in my opinion. There is normally a choice of around five real beers on tap, ranging from a porter to much lighter choices, plus a couple of lagers. All in all, the world would be a better place if all pubs where like the Red Lion!

Really friendly bar/restaurant staff that greeted me like a long-lost friend. There is a great restaurant - full of English charm and the food is just what you expect and need from a proper British boozer. The essentials of a pool table and dart board are also in place! Plenty of parking in the car park and a cheery open fire adds to the charm. There is a function room and private dining room (we had a good nosey around) and there are murals on one wall of the famous faces that used to frequent - Rod Stewart, Noel Edmonds, U2 and various famous faces from an epic time in British music history. It's not a music venue as such now but there are occasional bands, quiz nights and other events on. Worth checking in if you are passing through or are nearby. Woollaston is a really pretty little village for a wander around. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!!

Acts such as U2, Status Quo, Thin Lizzy and John Peel himself are all said to have played there in their early career. Obviously the pub has changed radically since those heady days of rock and roll. The old hall upstairs which was used as the club can still be hired out for events. With its large windows and stripped floor it has a fantastic charm for an intimate wedding or celebration. However, you will be pleased to hear that there is no evidence of the 70's disco that it used to be. The restaurant downstairs is a revelation to the village. Chris the head chef has brought high quality dining to the area much like his predecessor brought quality rock bands. His menu is interesting without being pretentious with classics such as game, steak and chicken sitting beside a great fish menu. The selection changes regularly so each time there is something new to try. His wine list is also very strong and we have enjoyed many a night sampling a range of grape derived delights. The pub offers private dining as well as the hall and restaurant so it can cater for family groups of up to 10 or 12 people. On the nights we have been there the place has been busy so I recommend booking ahead of time. In conclusion I would highly recommend this place if you are in mind for top notch food in a historic setting.

Whilst my experiences here are limited to Thursday's "Curry Club", prior to the rugby last night, that singular experience transcended normality, taking me and my colleagues to formerly uncharted territory in terms of our gastronomic Weltanschauung. Besides the aforementioned Balti-Bonanza, the pub's kitchen produces food offerings covering all corners of the globe, including American, British, Italian and even fusion via their unique "Mix-it-up Buckets". Rarely in life do you find such culinary variety in one place. Lager lovers are very well served here as The Cricketers boasts Stella Artois, Carlsberg, San Miguel and Coors Light on tap - a line-up more impressive than the '98/'99 United team. From an entertainment perspective you'll find SIX fruit machines, a top quality Winmau Blade 4 dart-board (as used in BDO professional competitions), a pool table and many, many televisions. There truly are very few places on God's Earth that stir the soul in the way The Cricketers in Milton Keynes does. Bravo.

The winner completes the task without relieving themselves in ANY way. That would be 12 pints without a bathroom break! And no puking!!! Should someone be able to reach the end, they would be given a green tie to commemorate their accomplishment, because it was said that green would be the color of your face by the time you got to the end if you actually did it. As legend has it, some would be arriving at the last few pubs crawling on their hands and knees, which is where the term "Pub Crawl" comes from. Currently, the race is much easier because there are only 5 pubs. The King Street Run Pub keeps the legend alive. Not only is this a great pub, It's namesake is the event and it also has a sign out front that portrays a caricature of the race. Too funny! Stopped in here for a couple of pints on the way home last night. Tried a cider for the firs time! much lighter than a ale or other kind of beer. Very refreshing on a summer night. There are also dart boards, pool tables, video games and TVs all around. Big signs advertising the Arsenal/Manchester City game on Sunday. Go check it out!

Overall an interesting place to drink and definitely one of Cambridge's more unconventional watering holes.
