I went a Capoera Yelp event. I wasn't sure if the Capoera master would drive us into the ground with hard exercises, or take it too easy on us Yelpers. Thankfuly, it was a third option: for my taste the right balance of physical exertion, technical explanations, and the history of this art. He started by explaining to us a brief history of Capoera, and then he moved on to explain a few steps, blocks and kicks, and then having us practice those movements enough for us to be able to use them. At the end he had most of the yelpers do a fight (pretend fight, with no contact) with one of the Capoera students and we had learned enough during the session to know what to do. After the class we had fruit and cakes, miam! I feel this was a good introduction to Capoera, and If I wanted to start a new martial art I would definitely consider joining this school. read more
