Kenny was a lifesaver. My 2003 Lexus ES had trunk issue since 2013, and I brought it into Lexus, but the pricing to fix was ridiculous, so I been running the car without a trunk. I recently heard about AB Auto from friends, made an appointment with Kenny and he responded very quickly and fit me into his schedule. He replaced the trunk latch within 2 hours at a quarter of the price including maintenance, oil change etc. Prob one of the most honest, helpful, and skilled mechanic in our area. read more

This was a while back that I explained to AB Auto of my Odyssey high pitch noise during cold engine start. I searched problem symptom online and mentioned to change specifically the tensioner pulley (quote ~$600.) Somehow it ended up with the same noise after repairing and I then knew OMG another pulley was replaced. I brought back the car and AB Auto charged another ~$600 for tensioner pulley and this time problem resolved. I was quite upset cause it cost me ~$1,200 for this issue and AB Auto supposed to test problem solved before returning to customer. Having customer paid 2x the price isn't a fair service. read more

Their fees are not cheap. And make repairs outside. Doesn't look like a good repair shop. They charge for 1.5 hours even though they only work for 20 minutes. Not recommended. wont come 2nd time. read more

Because of the pandemic, I postponed the regular maintenance of my car until now. It has been quite some years since last time a professional opened my car engine hood. I saw many positive comments on FB so I brought my car to AB Auto Repair. Kenny found some issues that even I am not aware of (Based on my understanding of my car's usage, I have imagined in my mind what would need to be replaced/fixed before the maintenance) Great service with fair price. Highly recommend! read more

AB Auto Repair - Auto Repair Near Me - San Jose, California

I have been to this place for past three years for my Toyota Camry maintenance and the car is in a good state. Recently, all the warning lights came up for my Honda Fit purchased last year. Kenny analyzed the problem step by step and avoided any unnecessary part replacement. He found serious carbon buildup on valves. After cleanup, the issue is gone and it's difficult for me to relate the warning lights with the root cause. He also provided suggestions to avoid the same issue in the future. Even though I have moved out of South Bay, Kenny is my first consultant for any auto issues who is skilled, honest and his price is affordable. read more

Took my 2008 Toyota Corolla here for 90k maintenance a little while back since it was long overdue. Kenny took care of it QUICK, as well as helped me become aware of a problem that I've long suspected with my tires. The price for everything that he did was so much better than quotes from other garages, especially the Toyota Dealerships. I've referred my parents and friends here as well when they've had their car problems, and now it's our go-to whenever something's wrong with our vehicles. Definitely check this place out :) read more

I took my 2007 Honda to the shop because my battery light was on. I changed the battery around 6-week before and had the radio unplugged at another shop because it caused parasitic draw. I was very worried that there was other parts that may cause a parasitic draw. When I took my car to the shop and explained my concern, Kenny checked my car and showed me that the battery light was caused by the alternator. Kenny also passed the rebate got from the supplier to me and saved me $$. Moreover, I got quick response from him when I texted him for appointment. Overall, I enjoyed his professional, patient and honest service. read more

This auto shop and owner, Kenny definitely deserve a five-star review! My car has a problem over the weekend. I first contacted the repair shop where I had a few major and costly repairs in the past; the owner was not helping and gave me some attitude because it was Sunday. I heard about Kenny and his repair shop long ago, but did not have a chance to try out. Since I needed to find a solution to fix my car ASAP, I contacted Kenny on Sunday afternoon. To my surprise, he replied right away and promised me he would look for a solution on Monday. On Monday, I asked Kenny when I could bring my car in and he was nice enough to accommodate my schedule. During the repair, he was very focus . The fact I appreciated the most was he did not turn down my repair because it was small. The price he charged was based on the job, not on the emergency. I am very satisfied with my first visit and for sure will come back!! read more

I found this place after researching several auto shops. John was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions patiently and thoroughly. He treats his clients like family and goes above and beyond to make sure that your vehicle is safe to drive! I went to him first for a repair on my car window and found his quote to be the best price in the area. He fixed the window and had it back to me really quickly! I have been going back to him for all my car problems ever since. When I was shopping for a new car recently, I brought prospective cars for him to test drive and check out. He expertly identified bad parts or potentially bad things that could happen just by driving and listening to the parts moving! Amazing! I ended up buying a car upon his recommendation and it was so nice to feel secure and confident about buying a used car. He also gave me really great advise about what I should or should not do to maintain my car in good condition. John REALLY knows his stuff and he is an honest man who takes his business and word very seriously. John has been my regular mechanic (and my family's!) and I have referred friends to him with very good feedback. His prices have remained reasonable and his service is very consistent. read more

I took my Honda Civic here because Target shopping cart damaged the right fender, bumper, and side door of my car a few weeks ago. When I arrived, Kenny took a look at my car and asked how long I'd keep driving this car because my car is pretty old and has a couple of dents and scratches prior to this. I told him that I plan to sell my car within a year. He said then we should just fix the fender because it was loose and that's the only concern in terms of safety. In the end, he fixed the fender problem, plus checked my tire pressure and engine, added air to my tires...all of it, within 30 minutes. I didn't expect that he do that much to a new customer like me. Kenny is the nicest and the most honest person ever on planet. I highly recommend this place! read more

I own a bunch of old Toyota sports cars. And they are old so thing do break on them occasionally. MY old 1985 Celica Supra sprung a leak through one of its freeze plug on the block. Corrosion did the plug in and my engine was basically wetting its own pants. Kenny did a great job in replacing the plug and flushing out my coolant at a very reasonable price. Turnover time was great as well. A couple of weeks later my old 1991 MR2 Turbo snapped its Alternator belt which also took out the oil level sensor wiring. Now my poor car had a check light for both oil and battery charging. Kenny quickly diagnosed problem and put on a new belt and fixed my ripped wiring. Pricing was once again incredibly reasonable. If you want a great mechanic who doesn't price gouge Kenny is the man to go to. I cannot recommend enough. read more

I am giving my first review on yelp because I really want to thank for his help!! I went there for an engine check of my 2002 Ford SUV last Saturday. He helped to check every small detail of the car, gave repair recommendations and explained to me what exactly was broken. But then suddenly, he told me he wouldn't recommend any fix for this car any more because he found out that the inside engine part has been damaged and it just won't worth fixing it. He then gave me advice on how I can safely drive this car in the near future. He is really kind. He saved me at least $100 (because other places I visit will charge ~$100 just for diagnose), and he gave me honest advice instead of trying to get me to fix parts. This is the best repair experience to me, even if I just confirmed that my car is beyond fix...It's so old anyway. I would definitely come back if I have any auto repair need in the future, and I highly recommend this place to everyone. read more

On the day I made appointment, the guy asked my car model and year and then told me oil change would be $30. I just don't like the way they do the business. read more
