Review from a Homeowner/Seller We had an excellent experience working with Aaron's Estate Sales, and we are truly grateful we trusted our instincts and chose them. While we were aware of some controversy and mixed reviews going in (which naturally gave us pause as homeowners) meeting in person with the team and better understanding their model, quickly put us at ease. From start to finish, the process exceeded our expectations. Sara, the team leader on our sale, was absolutely outstanding. She was an exceptional communicator, incredibly patient, and very knowledgeable. The entire team working over the two-weekend sale were fabulously attentive and helpful. Sara's professionalism and calm guidance made what could have been a stressful situation feel organized, thoughtful, and even enjoyable. She clearly cared about both our goals as new homeowners and the overall experience for buyers. When we acquired the home, it was filled with remarkable antiques, and we had factored the potential revenue from an estate sale into our plans for an extensive (and costly) historic renovation. Timing was also critical--we needed everything cleared quickly, but we were committed to ensuring that nothing of value was unnecessarily discarded. Just as important, we wanted the sale to feel welcoming and positive for shoppers, neighbors, and anyone from our community stopping by to appreciate the home. Much of the criticism we've seen about Aaron's centers around pricing. From our perspective as sellers, the results speak for themselves: approximately 95% of the inventory sold, across more than 1,000 transactions. With that volume, it's unrealistic to expect perfect pricing on every item. Most pieces were priced at or slightly below retail, and as the sale progressed, prices were reduced as needed to ensure items moved. That's simply how a successful estate sale works: pricing adjusts based on demand. Items that buyers felt were worth a premium sold early, and others sold once discounted. In the end, nearly everything found a new home. Some vocal critics (but supporters of our home restoration project) reached out hoping we would not recommend Aaron's. While we understand their desire to purchase antiques at rock-bottom prices for resale, that approach would have significantly reduced the revenue we needed to reinvest in the home. Even so, we saw many items quickly reappear on Facebook Marketplace at higher prices...proof that great finds and profitable deals were still made. I purchased four wine glasses, paid for them, Paul wrapped them in paper and handed me the bag at a sale in Holland. When I returned to Kalamazoo that evening i found only three glasses in the bag. I went to an estate sale recently where the staff was not helpful & just rude. It might have to do with the fact there were only 2 people there for the entire house & basement. Leaving room for an increase in the theft of some smaller items. The business model of full price in the first day with increasing % discount on each progressive days lacks the opportunity for customers to bundle up a lot and get a deal straight away. Many sales were left sitting there. I know a lot of estate services do it this way to get as much as they can. Prices were way over priced, knowing the discount schedule. It does not benefit the client if a curio is priced at $1500 to only be sold for $400 on the final day. I would have paid $900 on the first day resulting in a higher price for the client. The items were not well presented with a lack of tables, racks and set up. It was all very messy & cluttered. And made the items look cheap. Properly displayed items might make them look more attractive to pay more...but still not what they price things at. After speaking with avid estate sale goes...With their alla carte pricing...They can make more than the client when all is said & done. Their posts talk a good game to take care of everything, but their follow through is lacking. read more

I purchased an MCM vintage highly collectible dresser from Aaron's Estate Sales. I paid top dollar on the first day of the sale with the guarantee that it would be delivered. I agreed to pay the extra fee. I was assured the dresser would be wrapped and protected during travel. This was confirmed in writing. The dresser arrived damaged with visible gouges and scratches. The dresser was also dropped and the support leg cracked on its way into my home. The employee admitted to causing the damage and apologized. Since then, my requests for repair reimbursement ($300) have been ignored. We have a mediation court date this month in hopes of reaching a settlement. Aaron's Estate Sales typically has a good reputation. I trusted their promises. read more

To be fair, I've never used them for selling services but I know I wouldn't hire them. They would make more money for my family by pricing items correctly to sell. There is no point to having stuff wait for day 3 and discount heavily. Just price it right and you'll make families 20-30% more right away. So, that leads to my biggest critique of them as a buyer who frequents estate sales. I go to EstateSales to find deals so I can resell. and maybe every once in a while I'll find something that I myself can use, or collect. I've been to many Arron's Estate Sales and have yet to buy something the first day. It's all priced retail. If I wanted a $50 Beatles Abby Rd Album, for example, I can get one on eBay for $35-50. Or a record store for that matter. The second gripe that I have is that they are typically poorly organized. Yeah, the VIPs can pay for early access, but I don't have any problem with that if somebody wants to spend their hard earned money for 15 minutes. With Aaron's, it's so high priced that I feel confident that not too much is going to go the first day anyway so 15 minutes doesn't matter to me. But I don't like that their line numbering system is unclear every time, and many items are unpriced when you walk in. These details should be handled before they even open the doors. I went to an estate sale held by this company after seeing the listing on Estatesales.net. I showed up 20min before it started and I saw people who were standing on the porch, when someone went to join them on the porch, one customer said "this is for VIP's". The lady came down and joined us "peasants" waiting like people normally do. Someone had organized numbers for the line (which is quite common). So, while waiting for 10am start, Sarah, the lady working the sale came out to do a roll call for the VIP shoppers, she probably rattled off 15 names. I went to the Aaron's website to see about this VIP thing. Apparently, ppl pay $50 a month or $500/ year to get early access to the sales. They can come in and shop before us "peasants" have a chance. This is an unfair business practice, the regular ppl who read the listing had no knowledge if these VIP's cherry picking, regardless of the ppl who get there early (a man there at 5am) or the ppl that drive long distances (a couple drove 4 hours) or ppl like me, who took time off work to go to the sale before going in to work (that cost me money). If I had known that these ppl would come in and take the good stuff, I wouldn't have wasted my time. This is an UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE, they don't disclose this because why would anyone show up if they know that the good stuff was probably already sold. It's misleading, disgusting, greedy way to do business. Then, when I actually went in, the prices were outrageous!!! I wish I had taken more pics of price tags, it was laughable. I would assume the VIP's probably got a break on price, because some of these vintage items were WAY ABOVE retail. Shameful all around. The lady who drove 4 hours, was yelling outside at Sarah, she said that the listing didn't mention the early shopping for VIPs. Sarah said she just works there and she would tell management. I normally do not attend these estate sales due to their extremely overpriced items but I thought I would give it another go today . I drove out to the beautiful farmhouse in Beverly Hills Michigan with a small glimmer of hope that it would be a normal estate sale that had normal estate sale prices . This was the third day of the sale , the house was still loaded with items , even with 40% off the prices were outrageous . Let me make it clear , I am not looking for free items , I am always willing to pay a fair price and it seems that this company does not believe in a fair price. I was interested in the Vintage - antique clothing and consulted with one of the workers if they were willing to take more than 40% off of the clothing because it was outrageously priced - they told me no and that 40% off was what they we're offering . I would have bought the whole rack of clothing if they would have come down on their price , I estimate that they cost the family a $500 sale and they let me walk away . I could guarantee that no one was going to pay the prices they had on that clothing and that it all will remain unsold . Maybe they need to learn some good business practices for making sales instead of leaving the homeowners with a full price of unsold items because they price them like an antique store . I feel sorry for anyone who hires this company as they do not obviously have your best interest at heart otherwise they would price items fairly so they would sell . They lost a good buyer today and I will never step foot in another one of their sales because it is not a sale , it is a overpriced antique store . read more

From the purchasing side, estate sale shopper, they are by far the neatest and friendliest company. You always know that the homes are professionally staffed. Today, Melody was so helpful. This is the man who aggressively grabbed my phone after he doubled the price of an item (pictured) at the Fisher Estate sale today in Detroit. People at the sale were asking me why he was assaulting me. They were clearly shocked at his demeanor. The aggression happened when asked him to move so he wouldn't be in my he picture of the item he tried to hide after he realized his staff had priced the plant stand lower than he thought it should be. He was not apologetic about it and said he was going to reprimand his staff for the incorrect price. I called Jake at the corporate office to let them know how aggressive this guy was. In fact, when I first arrived at the sale, he was yelling at this sweet older lady, threatening to have her arrested for trespassing. Clearly this guy was having a moment or two today. Prior to going this sale, I shopped another of this company's sales in Shelby county. The staff there were professional and calm. read more

I am legally disabled, handicapped, suffering from multiple surgeries, implants, fusions and other health conditions. I attended an estate sale hosted by Aarons Estate Sales, Spring 2023, after leaving a hospital visit to activate an Inspire implant. My dog (a real service dog, with a doctor's note in my wallet, and wearing a service dog back vest) with my husband (witness). NO SIGNS WERE POSTED, to say NO DOGS ALLOWED. So, that being said,...when my husband came upstairs, after hearing his sick wife, multiple times asking the worker to back away and trying multiple times to have him look at the vest...we left !! I have photos, and it is on record with the Clinton Township police department (Aarons' staff call the police when I returned, the next day, to legally hold a sign in the street (public) without incident)..stating on my sign: "Aarons Estate Sales told a legally disabled person to CARRY their service animal or leave". Note: I had emailed Aaron, the day it happened, and he did not reply. He did, however, reply the next day threatening legal action if I said anything disparaging against his company and that the seller's didn't allow dogs (again, not posted). Fun fact, one of the men, not the one that stood six feet tall and repeatedly told me (after I showed him the vest and explained the laws, several times, who took photos of me in the street..)..had a walking cane. I informed Aaron, in his follow-up threatening email (after my civil right to peacefully protest discrimination), without incident, not stopping or approaching those who did go into the sale...that his employee, in my opinion, bullied me, and hoovered very close to me (I keep my distance due to an autoimmune disorder)..and never mentioned a "seller's request for no dogs..and that Aaron should consider posting "NO DOGS, INCLUDING SERVICE DOGS ALLOWED, unless you are willing to carry that animal"...and that he had the opportunity, the day before when I emailed him, to contact me, get the correct facts, educate his employees, and by threatening me with legal action, he may want to run the facts past his attorney first. read more

Had them sell and clean house. Items poorly priced, very little sold, they own the auction house they use for more valuable items, ended up dumping household items instead of donating, and while they got cashiers check for cars sold, I got a personal check that came a week later at least. Had to vacate the house for a week while they set up, the cost of hotel was close to my take on the items sold after they get their share. Wasn't a good experience - the sale was in july and I've tried to forget about it, hence to delay in posting. read more

Nice day so we decided to hit some estate sales. 2 of them were Aarons sales. As we've seen at prior sales their pricing was high on many items, some items were nuts. I did find one item I decided on that was marked $15 and being 3rd day of the sale they were at 30% off. At check out I asked if they would take $10 for it. He adamantly refused and had to have $10.50 because it was only 30% off. I still bought it but you would think they could bend a little for 50 cents. This attitude and rigid business policy is one of the reasons I usually bypass Aarons sales. read more

They had a estate sale in Washington Michigan again they claim all their clients only have expenaive item. HIGHLY UNLIKELY. The art work was way over priced. Google search revealed it all. They lie to there patrons to get the highest price. They don't look at sold items they price the items super high, and when you ask about the price they get rude. I have had items appraised right there on site over the phone with pictures and the appraisal came back at 25% the value. Fact is I had to because they sold me a picture for $250.00 which was half off the $500.00 and the value was only $30.00. My husband was made and wanted to go back there. He is considering legal action for misrepresentation of Art. Our attorney told us that's Fraud in the Art world. They sell a lithographs like original paintings and demand the amount of a painting instead of a lithograph. Not one item in the house was worth 65% of their list price. Do not hire these people, unless you're really trying to make your neighbors very angry and hate you. Doing the estate sale for the four days many neighbors received damage to their property. People were double park and block driveways and mailboxes. I had a lady park on my front lawn and run over my sprinkler head causing damage. My other neighbor got his mailbox hit. One of the days of the sale was trash day, and the trash crew could not get through the traffic plus the next-door neighbor got their trash can run over by one of the people also attending the estate sale. Even our street sign slow down kids playing on our road got backed into. Call them twice to ask to help cover the cost of the damage that was done due to the estate sale. 1. They contradict what they tell you versus what they really do. They tell you that they will work with you in donating the remaining items that you want to give away. What they don't tell you is the fact that they will not only not coordinate with you to itemize and determine what will be donated, but their 3rd party clean up crew will trash everything and take away anything that they feel is of any value to either keep or sell for themselves. 2. They tell you that they will clean up any damaged walls or carpet From the sale. But they don't do that. In fact, they will leave quite a mess behind without any accountability for it. And they will make you sign off on any other major house damages that might result. The example I was given, was that if they rammed through your garage, they wouldn't be held responsible for it. The contract makes you sign off on that. 3. I have my doubts about the How they presented the items for sale. Because they left a horrendous mess of the items that were not sold., It looked like they had created more of a dump sale that people could just rummage through. 4. They tell you that they will work with you in coordinating items, such as artwork, to put in their auction house. But that's also a lie. They tell you that they will coordinate with you to determine by their appraisers if such items would have any value in an auction. But they do not coordinate with you at all or communicate directly with you about this. They suddenly in arbitrarily Tell you that the appraisers didn't find any value in your items. 5. They imply in the beginning that they will return the items that did not sell back to you, in other words that they will make arrangements to have everything moved to your place. However, this is also a lie. You will find out later that they will do no such thing. You are left with having to rehire movers to get them to take any remaining items that you want to keep because it did not sell or was not approved to go to auction. The fact that they do not coordinate with you on donating items is an atrocity. They make it seem like they will choose and connect with the right kind of charities to donate to, but they actually have no accountability or coordination with this because they leave it to the cleanup crew to determine whether and where they will take those few items to any organization. I found them untrustworthy, lacking, proper coordination, communication, and sophistication in their work ethic. Trust them at your own risk. read more

I hate to be cliche and say I wish I could give them zero stars but honestly I have been to many estate sale sand this was horrifying. The home was full of items but it also reeked of both alls and there were mouse droppings everywhere. How can you conduct a sale where you throw the clothing you want to sell into poles on top of mouse poop! Not to mention the prices were ridiculous. Picked up a pair of earrings in a box. Been to several of their sales and they are fine, prices not bad and friendly people. But the one thing to say the least is misleading is on their sales they have FAQ and one of them is : Q: Do you do any pre-sales or pre-views before the official opening day? A: No we do not. We strive to bring the best experience to our customers. Everything that a client allows us to sell will be available for purchase to the public on a first come first serve basis. --- That is misleading - while technically they do not have pre-sales BEFORE opening day they do have a VIP program where you pay a membership fee and you get in 15 minutes the day OF the sale before the sale opens - 15 mins doesn't seem like much but it pretty much means that as an outsider you are going to be at a distinct disadvantage and that treasured item you saw on the site and you've been waiting at the head of the line for an hour well...you're further behind than you think. Either drop the VIP program or be fully transparent on the Q/A re that question. read more

Update: Several years have gone by since I started going to estate sales run by this company (I wrote the original review after going to them reasonable amount of time but not years.) The quantity of sales have gone up exponentially where sometimes there are 3-8 sales sales on the same day. After covid when things were in full swing again, I noticed a drop in the number of staff at sales, and also a drop in the experience. At several sales, there was only one employee on the premises and a few only two. The sales were hopping and the staff was very apologetic in trying to get to everybody. In my opinion, there should never be just one person just due to money handling safety/common sense. Their focus is on the large very high-end houses and celebrity connected estate sales at this point. It's a shame because they used to put a lot of care and energy even to smaller homes that were treasure troves of vintage collectibles. It was nice to see towards the end of a an estate sale where it looks like the company did a great job for the family and sold out of most everything. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to go to the estate sales sometimes. i went to a sale on park in roseville, ARRONS had at least 6 parking spots in front of the house and buyers had to walk 3-4 houses away. RUDE!!!! i know some would say that is not far unless you are handicap. the PRICES were good if you were half off and then half off again. i have been buying and selling for forty five years and never seen prices so high EVER. drove 1-1/2 hours and there prices were higher than any quality antique show in michigan. dan read more

Not only are prices way to high , I tried for 5 days straight to get a price and availability on a scooter, I never got a return call and we drove there and they said they were closed although it wasn't quite 4 yet. So I finally talked to someone and they said they were too busy and I never got an answer. If you are a buyer I would be careful of their pricing and if you hire them to sell your stuff , you might want to make sure , they are acting in your best half , I know I don't like going to their sales. read more

Attended a Aaron's estate sale in Central Michigan. Clearly not there normal territory Reed City to be exact. Sarah and Paul worked very hard to get this sale together. Great job! I attend your sales in the metro Detroit area and was very pleased to have them in my neck of the woods. Sarah and Paul were very helpful on answering questions with the customers. And it's very hard to price things accordingly up here because people don't have much up here and look for bargains when they can .But I hope they can continue to broaden there territories and come see us up here in the future. Went to an estate sale today and found a neat peacock lamp. Online it appeared to be brass but in person it turns out to be resin sprayed in a brass color. This item was priced at $200. I decided to google this lamp. Found the exact lamp on wayfair for $125. The cashier/employee then had the nerve to offer it to me for RETAIL price. As if it's a rare, vintage piece that I'm getting a deal on. Bad business. read more

I stopped going to Aarons as I find that their prices are way too high. I was looking at a 6 inch C clamp and on their 75% off day it was still $40. Today, I was looking at a new shadow box that was in an unopened package from Michaels. The asking price was $40. I looked it up on the web at Michaels and they were asking $20 for the brand new item. Everyone at the sale this morning was saying that their prices were extremely high. One woman said she purchased the same item (furniture) in better condition at another estate sale for $30 that they were asking $400 for today. Another sale they had a plant tray. The new purchase price on the item was still intact at $4.99, they were asking $20. read more
