My previous orthopedist, Dr. Palanca, recently relocated to another state and referred me to Dr…read more Roper for my ongoing shoulder problems. During my first and only visit, I was in Dr. Roper's office for less than five minutes when he had me sobbing. I have never been treated so badly by any professional in my life. He initially asked me to raise my arm as high as I could. I complied and he tested my strength and seemed displeased. I mentioned that the pain seems to be not only in my shoulder but also in my neck. He rolled his chair over to his computer and looked at my chart. He yelled, "you knew when you came in here today that I couldn't help you! You probably still have a tear in your shoulder that can't be operated on because of other health issues". I was startled and stunned by his outburst which I am sure was heard throughout the entire office area. I was only there because Dr. Palanca moved and referred me to Dr. Roper. I have no idea why he became so enraged. I am in the process of applying for disability because of health problems, so after I composed myself I asked Dr. Roper if he would refer me to take the test to determine my disabilities. He again yelled,"No doctor can refer you for that test, only a lawyer can! The people that think they can get disability without a lawyer don't know anything and won't get it. Yes, you are disabled and a lot of people I see are disabled and I can't help them either!" He then called for the nurse and yelled even louder, "I don't ever want to see her face in my office again!" Needless to say, I was mortified by this experience and I hope no one else is subjected to this type of unbelievably rude and unprofessional behavior by Dr. Roper.
