Me and a friend were looking for an affordable 2 bedroom apartment in Astoria, Queens. My friend had found an ad on CraigsList for an apartment that was within our budget, and contacted the poster of the ad. Within minutes, Chantal had called him and told him that she was able to show the apartment in fifteen minutes! When I was able to view the apartment at a later date, Chantal made sure to point out all of the features of the unit, in addition to telling us about the other tenants in the building that we would be interacting with. She was fully honest in comparison to other brokers that I have had to deal with, and made me feel comfortable while viewing the apartment and talking about payments. Chantal is local to the area, and was able to give us her thoughts on the area and the neighborhood, which gave us the confidence to sign the lease with no worries that we may be getting a bad deal. I am not one to use Yelp. In fact, I kind of despise it - but Chantal deserves all of the clients. Out of ANYONE I would have to pay a broker fee, I am extremely glad it was her. Not only is she ethically sound, and over all a wonderful person - but she was fast and considerate and really helped my partner and I, as well as our 40 lb dog get our dream apartment in Astoria. Before her I had looked at a handful apartments around Astoria - all with, excuse my language, sh*t brokers or landlords who would hang up the phone as soon as they heard the word dog. She was the first and only one to actually sit down and talk to me. She was not pushy, she was considerate and actually brought a humanity to a process that every New Yorker knows is a numbers game. This has been a particularly taxing week for me as I have been engaged with multiple brokers that have been pushy and have seen images on online listings that were deceitful. Chantal posted an ad for an apartment in Astoria that seemed to work for me, with a few modest pictures and text that wasn't too flashy. I texted her and got a response a short time later, then we coordinated a time to see the apartment later that evening. I looked at the apartment (it was AWESOME) and then went on my merry way afterward. After a half hour, I decided to give her a call to tell her I was interested in renting the place, and she offered to pick me up from my apartment and sign an application at her office. She then offered to drop me off home after we finished the paperwork! I usually try to add a bit of humor or flair into my reviews, but I really just wanted to be earnest with this one. Chantal is a good person and her practices are ethically sound. That is more than I can say for many of the other brokers you'll see in the neighborhood. Chantal was incredibly helpful, proactive, and accommodating in the process of us finding our first apartment together. She took the initiative in reaching out to us in our search. Most importantly, she was patient with our own individual needs and didn't brush over any important details. Chantal... what a gal. Best experience I've ever had with a real estate agent. She texts you immediately after you text her, and ACTUALLY gets back to you when she says she'll get back to you (a rare quality in real estate agents these days)! She is organized, to the point, yet kind and personable and never pushy. She treats you like an actual PERSON, and not just a client with a big wallet. Without me even asking, she negotiated the price of the rent down. Without me even asking, she negotiated the broker's fee down with her manager. She answered all my questions with confidence, and if she did not know the answer she would tell me she didn't know and that she would get back to me with the answer--and she did! I like her because she has established relationships with the landlords--my new landlord has known her and used her services for 16 years. That kind of leverage brought me into the circle of trust with the landlord, where he really entrusts Chantal to bring the right tenant to him. She is a hard-working, honest, organized woman of integrity, and I HIGHLY recommend using her services. I meant to write a positive review of the business a while back. Last August, we worked with them to rent our current apartment near Astoria / Ditmars. Chantal was professional and really listened to our needs. She took us around in her car and pointed out relevant services and locations in the neighborhood (we weren't familiar with Astoria to begin with). She showed us 4 apartments, and we were sold on the last one. She was efficient with our paperwork and charged a reasonable fee for her services. We love our apartment and plan to stay for a while! Chantal was fantastic! She found us a great place in Astoria, negotiated the rent down for us and then even knocked some money off her broker fee to make it an even payment. While most of the other brokers that we tried to work with during our move hassled us about personal financial information before even showing us an apt, Chantal was more concerned about getting us into a new apartment that was within our budget and in the location we wanted. My fiance' and I recently worked with Chantal to find an apartment in Astoria. I had used her once, four or five years before, and couldn't believe how easy she made the process--truly painless, especially because I was just moving to the NYC area from Chicago and was really nervous. She found me a perfect, safe spot with awesome landlords whom she'd known for a long time, and who ended up welcoming me to NYC as if I were one of their own kids. So, this second time I worked with Chantal, she worked her magic yet again (no exaggeration). We found a great apartment in an amazing location, with the nicest landlords, whom she's known for years. Everything was efficient, organized, and completely stress-free on our end. Never thought I'd have such good luck finding apartments in NYC (or thought I could use the term "stress-free" to describe the process of finding one), but because I've worked with Chantal, I've been super lucky. She is phenomenal, and after using her twice now, with excellent results each time, I cannot emphasize enough how great she is! The other thing of note: I don't know if it's the landlords Chantal knows, but in both apartments she has found me, I have never had a cockroach or mouse problem. My girlfriend and I have been searching over a month for an apartment and found Aamen Realty through a craigslist add for a potential apartment. We first spoke with Karin who was extremely efficient and always returned our calls quickly. We arrived at there Astoria location the same day to go view the place and at the office we met Shantel for the first time-- what a lady. So incredibly helpful, she had known our potential landlord for a long time and both ladies had so much info about the neighborhood. The apartment was beautiful, clean and absolutely perfect! We expressed to Karin that we would like to take it and wanted get the process going and that is exactly what we did. At the office Shantel called the landlord, talked us up to him and told him to meet us the next day. Everything was organized and we put our security down that night. The next day everything went well with the landlord and we signed the lease on the spot! Such a great/smooth experience that restored my faith in the apartment hunting process. It was over all a two day process with no drama, we felt like Aamen Realty was rooting for us.
