Can't fathom giving less than 5 stars to a place that facilitates license renewals in under 20 minutes. My license doesn't actually expire for a few more months but fall is going to be a nightmare for me so I figured I'd be proactive and get this over with while I still had a little extra time in the day. Brought all of my documents for the new verified licenses at 10am on a Wednesday and was seen almost immediately. My IDs were scanned and I was given a number to sit and wait. I waited for less than 10 minutes before I signed the docs for a new license and had my picture taken. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the space itself is clean, open, and comfortable. I have been a AAA member since I got my license at 17. I also live in west hartford and could walk to this AAA location. It's time for me to renew my drivers license, and there are no openings until after my license will be expired. Apparently everyone is taking appointments to get the "Real" license for travel. AAA is taking appointments from everyone, including non AAA members! Why am I paying a membership fee if you aren't offering any perks to your customers that are actually paying you for a membership???? AAA paying members should be taken care of first, we should be be first in line for appointments. Come Monday morning I'm canceling my membership and adding roadside assistance to my auto insurance instead of paying AAA. read more

Simply horrible customer service. I'm an aaa customer for 30 years. I went in for service at 4:20 and they told me they were closing, too late to serve. I was one of two people in the store and they close at 5. Lazy, lazy people e specifically, who would rather do nothing then be helpful. Go to any other store. Do not apply for a loan at this branch. I co-signed for a loan then was rejected after they ran my credit because I didn't live in the same household. WHAT? Who cares and why would you run my credit of you see Im not from the same address. Dealt with Dan Cirino Financial Services Representative that was abrasive and told me he does a 1000 app a day n can't check each one for its content . Very disappointed, inquired for a loan and insurance for a 2007 Mercedes, I was denied with a credit score of 740. I've been a member of AAA on and off few times over the last billions years. Most recently, for the past, decade and two tenths. As our household doubled in the number of drivers and as aging In-Laws needed some roadside security, we have found their services invaluable. From dead battery jumps and replacements to the ever dreaded tow. We've used their Driving Educators and Competency Exams, relentlessly, and eventually with proud success. The West Hartford office is very convenient to access, 6 days a weeks. I especially like the CT DMV License renewal station and one-on-one travel specialists. There is a younger girl named Amanda who is always my favorite person to work with when I go to AAA, whether it be to obtain foreign currency or just to grab a guide book. I always check out the sales on luggage and bags. They sell PacSafe travel bags which I love. I bought one before heading overseas a few years back and I still use it. I bought the Citysafe 100 Anti Theft Handbag. It has held up nicely and had a lot of pockets, card slots, etc. If you are a member, you can get discount movie tickets as well as other discounted tickets for area attractions. This place is great. I had called ahead to ask some questions about getting my license renewed here, and the man answering the phone was polite and helpful. There is ample parking for AAA customers in the lot behind the building. Walking in, I was surprised at how big, clean, and bright it was inside. There was plenty of luggage for sale, and different counters for different services. I stopped at the main desk, was greeted buy a friendly receptionist, and was pointed in the correct direction. I had a short wait, and during that time I was acknowledged by every employee in the vicinity. I was greeted and told I would be waited on shortly (even though the was not long at all). Everyone was extremely friendly. The actual process of renewing my license was short and simple. Each person I interacted with did ask if I was a AAA member, but when I explained why I was taking a year off (I was offered a great roadside service option free for a year with my new car, and I get all of the same discounts that AAA offers through my job anyway) nobody was pushy about trying to enroll me. My car would not start after being driven 40 minutes before. I was parked in from of my office and waited 4 hours for the Ford Roadside Assistance to arrive only to have them tell me they couldn't tow the car because the hood would not open (security system electric latch needed replacement and the sensor drained the battery) and the transmission was not able to be moved out of park. In addition they wanted $205 to tow the car while still under extended warranty (that issue later was proved to be incorrect and the tow should have been free) Booo!! to Ford Motors! I was also told I needed a regular tow truck, with a dolly. I left the car at the office overnight and got a ride home. First thing in the morning I called AAA at 8:04am and at 8:32am. I explained the issues the first tow company cited as not being able to tow the car, to the young man tow driver. He said let me see what I can do I don't give up so easily. I took over 1/2 hour but he was able to remove the floor panels open the hood by manually using the steel cable to pull the hood latch into position to open the hood charge the battery enough to start the car. He offered to let me drive the car to the Ford garage to save the tow charge, but checked and told me that the charge was part of my extended AAA plan so he towed the car to the garage. That was above and beyond extraordinary effort on the operators part. Over the years I have had AAA. I have only needed to utilize my towing and battery dead, flat tire assistance etc on a limited basis. However every time I needed AAA they were there and their service was superior. Cudo's to this tow driver and all other operators who have rendered assistance whenever needed by myself, my wife, and my children. Your help makes the cost of the plan worth the cost. Definitely your best bet for license renewals. I was in and out of there in about 25 minutes on a busy Saturday morning and everyone was very nice. I try to avoid the DMV whenever possible. Came here to renew my license. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. The staff were friendly and had great personalities. They told me about their offers and i was able to be added to a family member's account for $10 for the year. Be mindful for license renewal there is an $8 convenience fee through AAA. But i wouldn't dare do the wait at DMV. This location was clean, ample parking, bathrooms on the lower level with elevator access. My only gripe is there was no mirror available before I took my license picture, but they explained they removed the mirror because the wait time was too long from folks getting photo ready lol. read more

I have experienced the worst service known to man today. I made a call to AAA at 2:54 PM letting them know my car stopped running and I was stranded on the highway and needed a tow. The lady that processed my call couldn't find the area, stating that their system has been giving them problems all day. She contacted her supervisor to help and they stated they located my area and a tow will be expedited seeing as I am parked by vehicles going 60+ mph. She said since she made it urgent it would be 30 minutes or less when the tow arrives. I waited until 3:54 PM before I called back and hadn't heard anything from the company. This is when I heard the automated system say the arrival time is 5:10 PM. It went from a 30 minute wait to a 2 hour wait. If this is expedited I would hate to be a part of there regular service call. Then, I spoke to a fella who said it's a truck from their Fleet not a 3rd party and they were held up. This makes it even worse, how many trucks are there in service for it to be a 2 hour delay? Obviously not enough!! This is not good customer service and I don't feel like a valued member of a company I payed services for for over 8 years. MCA here I come!! read more

We were Triple AAA members since 1967. Today, I called them because a part on my car disintegrated in the road and the transmission refused to go into any gear. AAA said they would have someone there within the hour. No one showed up. After calling them back, they then told me they would have someone there in 20 more minutes. No one showed up. I received a few calls indicating that someone would be on their way. I waited, and waited. No one ever showed up. I have the Premier membership too. Finally, I ended up calling a towing firm in the area and they were there within 30 minutes. No hassle. I did spend $80.00 but, it was worth it because I was out in the heat and I have heart problems so, I figured it was a great deal. I called 3 times to complain to AAA but, in each case, they refused to let me speak to a supervisor. They never offered to reimburse me for the tow truck either. They acted like they didn't care at all. Needless to write, I won't be renewing next year. I have my life insurance through them and I am cancelling that out too. read more

Booked a flight with Yannick Gonzalez - I do NOT recommend her - bought what we believed was TRIP insurance, and was called trip insurance on all the paperwork. I was forced by ill health to cancel my trip. Upon trying to make a claim was informed by Ms. Gonzalez and, after over a month of dithering, a representative of AON insurance ( an AAA group) that all I had was flight insurance. I am utterly disgusted, still struggling with health problems and now out thousands of dollars. Never, never, never put your trust in AAA. Took less than 15 minutes to be through the entire procedure, including extra documentation for CT's new "verified" license. Also: AAA just towed my car from NYC to Hartford FREE, part of premium membership..... the driver was polite, the service was prompt. AAA is an underrated service.... I discovered my car had a flat tire on Thursday (1/8/15) and called AAA at about 9:30 a.m. I had to wait about 20 minutes for an operator to pick up. Due to freezing temperatures, a recording advised me it might be 2-3 hours before I could get help. I was at home, and apparently other AAA members were having trouble out on the road. By 1 p.m. I hadn't heard anything. I called and was put on hold for 1/2 hour. Then my call was answered and I was told it would be another 2 hours. At 3 p.m. I received an automated call and was told they'd help me by 3:30 pm. At 4 p.m. I hadn't heard from anyone, so t called and was put on hold for 1/2 hour (again). No one picked up, and I had to leave at 4:30 pm to pick up my daughter at the airport. I borrowed a car and was on my way out at 4:30 pm when a call came saying the AAA truck would arrive in 20 min. I told them I had to leave. They tried to tell me "they understood my anger." I missed a whole day of work for nothing. I ultimately found a tire place to come tow me and fix the tire the following day. It cost me about $130. I've been a member of AAA for at least 30 years. I will not renew my membership. If they had a system like UPS has where there is tracking, a member could see where they are in line of service. I could have borrowed a car and not missed the whole day. But AAA doesn't keep its members informed, and when you try to determine when you'll receive service, you are on hold for 1/2 hour +. I know it was a cold day. I know people may have more serious problems than my flat tire. But there is no excuse for rudeness. If a company like AAA can't handle the member calls, it has either gotten too big to handle its responsibilities, or is too unorganized to run an efficient business. I won't renew my membership. It's a waste of time and money. read more

I have also been a triple A customer for years (roadside assistance/travel) and had it not been for this specific location and their superb customer service I likely would have dropped my membership due to a recent poor experience at a different location.
