Had my auxiliary battery replaced and check engine light diagnosed. The star is for the battery replacement. Charged me $165 to diagnose check engine light only to tell me they couldn't diagnose due to not having access to Chrysler server. Well if you don't subscribe to their servers you won't be able to diagnose their codes and therefore shouldn't charge someone for said diagnosis. They basically charged me to tell me there was a problem, which I already knew. Unethical business practice at best. Will not be going back and would not recommend! read more

This location has unprofessional, dishonest and untrustworthy management. Troy (the central manager) and Maurice (the manager) have colluded to not fix the tensioner on our timing belt that was installed improperly by one of their mechanics. This led to the engine being ruined. Maurice told us that "these kinds of things happen. We are a multi-billion dollar corporation. Our insurance will take care of this." Upon consulting with his boss, Troy, the two managers suggested we pay half of the cost of this new engine install. We refused this proposal and requested they keep their word, claim to their insurance, and fix our vehicle. 18 months later, an open claim with the BBB, countless hours spent on the phone, we come to find out they deleted our service record and completely deny responsibility. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. They lie and will charge you replacement for stuff you didn't need. Did my entire breaks, calipers, rotors, pads, some lines, and mentioned a service light. Get my vehicle back and the e break does not work, then call and she can't guarantee there won't be a charge. It was working before... lied about the wheel barring making a humming noise at idle and charged me 350 for that, turns out it is the catalytic converter and they didn't even solve the problem! Garbage garage. This is all 100% true and accurate. I was lied to by Steven saying they couldn't do the cat because it was a full piece. I looked at it when I got home and its bolt on. Such liars and will never use again and will let everyone know about it. You guys are going down and need a bbb complaint filed. Which I will take the pleasure in doing. What a joke. Asshole came to replace a 6 month old battery, torn the car apart then left. If I could give them 0 stars I would. It's really unfortunate considering my husband and I have been customers for years, BUT this was the first time we had used Bob Sumerel in Florence, managed by an extremely rude and unprofessional guy, Maurice Norvell. Tommy, my husband gave a run down on everything going on with his GMC Sierra truck, he thought there might be a leak causing the AC not to work properly. He was trying to give all the details and help rule anything out so it would be less guess work/manual labor on the guys working on it. Maurice very rudely said "that's not how we do things so that's not going to happen, we're either going to do it this way or not at all" it takes a good while before my husband gets heated, he was shocked by the demeanor and attitude from a Manager of all people, and finally got to the point where he said "well you don't have to be shitty with me". Maurice just sternly/rudely said "well I don't have to serve you", at which point Tommy just went next door and got exceptional service from Advance Auto. Tommy said it was so unsettling and slightly embarrassing how Maurice from Bob Sumerel treated him, made him feel like utter trash or something. Save your self the trouble of dealing with this unprofessionalism. And from the other reviews looks like they do shotty work anyways, which isn't surprising now. This will be a very long review. This is the first time I ever went to a Bob Sumeral. It will be the last time in my life with no exceptions that I ever step foot inside one. My car stopped running Saturday. I had it narrowed down to either a MAF sensor or something with the coolant. I wasn't completely sure and needing a fix fast I called AAA because I have a membership. They get it there Saturday night. I knew they weren't open on Sunday so I waited until Monday. I call around 11am and the guy starts out by giving me like a 2 page long list of stuff. He then proceeds to tell me it will cost me $.2,600.00. I told him no. I told him I didn't have very much money and I just wanted the core problem fixed to get it running. I call him back 2 hours later and He gives me still a 2 page long list of what is "wrong" and says that is what it will take to be road ready. I told him I wanted just the core problem fixed but he kept insisting the 2 page long list were the problems. They cut the price down to $1,300 00. It was still waaay to much but I said go ahead because I don't have time to deal with this. Things on the list included caps like a gas cap and an oil change. Stuff I can do myself. Stuff that didn't need to be fixed. I am pretty sure it was only the thermostat housing and a sensor that needed to be done. It was an extensive list of little nothings that had no need for it to run. I finally get the money for it and they tell me it would be done end of day Monday at 6pm. 5 pm rolls around and I call back and they say "No, sorry it will be Tomorrow (Tuesday) probably by noon." I get a ride to go pay for it at 9am Tuesday and they tell me "It will be done by 3pm." I call 2 pm and again they tell me nope it will be end of day. Finally at 530pm It is "done". They call a Lyft for me and the first Lyft cancels. I don't get there until almost 7pm. I get my car back home and figured I would see the state of it. I look down by my driver door and there is a wire unplugged that had never been like that before, My A/C unit no longer cools, and upon lifting the hood I find another random wire unplugged that I never seen like that before. The coolant wasn't topped off and it wasn't leaking either. I had to add 2 bottles of water to balance it out. The oil also wasn't as full as it should have been either. I have pictures and documents of this all. The only discount from my AAA membership I received was $63.00. I am not normally one to be really pissed and write reviews that are negative but you guys deserve this. The only part about this I am satisfied with is the tow and the woman who stayed extra after the shop closed to give me the key to my car. I will never in my life recommend you and I will warn people the rest of my life never to go to one of you ever. I came out feeling really ripped off on purchases that did NOT need to be purchased. $40 for a gas cap, $20 for a radiator cap, Almost $50 for an oil change that I can do myself for half the cost and not to mention you charging me $400.00 in labor on a part that is only 100.00. My tires did not need rotating they were all new from like a month ago. If I had $2,600.00 on me I would have just bought a new car and not worried about salvaging a 2013. You guys even gave me a recipt with $1,300 00 more stuff that does not need fixed that you want me to come in and get done. Uhhh, no. A technician should be able to pin point the problem that is causing it to not start and fix that. Reason I picked this place is because I had moved out here a year ago and the mechanic that was able to do that was out of the 25 mile limit. I can't describe how pissed I am right now. I am even out more money now to buy all the refrigerant they took out because I have to buy more if I want an A/C. The only way I ever come back is if something you fixed broke because it has a warranty of 24k miles. Other than that this place will never exist to me. I usually only go on to write good reviews but people have to be warned about this place. I also have a really bad problem when people tell me they will have something done in a timely fashion. The first time I was fine with it but the second and third time is unacceptable because I have never dealt with a mechanic that has ever delayed on me more than once. I also would have been happier if upon getting my car back I didn't face more problems. Do not go here or waste any money here. Trade with them at your own risk they will get you for every little tiny thing and charge you way too much for labor. read more

Don't ever ever ever use AAA for insurance. It has been a nightmare. Our agent left and we weren't notified. We were sent to no man's ghost agent land. When we requested to have an agent that started there be our agent, they wouldn't allow it. Then we had a claim. Oh the horrible service!! We are finding out we didn't have coverages we thought we did (on one car, not the others- who does that?!?). We're out of pocket for the rental car when we thought we had coverage. An agent may have helped. But a ghost agent doesn't. The claim service has been a nightmare. There are errors in the police report and we don't believe the accident was our fault. However in an attempt to learn how to fix it, the AAA claims guy is arguing with me!! He should be looking to fix this- as is they have to pay. Idiot. Lastly, we have left message after message for the adjuster. We tell him what time we're available. Does he call then? No! He calls when HE wants. I absolutely would never ever use AAA. Please heed my warning! Have to give one star to post. It's a negative one, FYI. HORRIBLE!!!! read more

**UPDATE, Manager from the location talked with me and offered to have them fixed. He was more than understanding and easy to deal with. I told him a refund would be fine and I intend to fix myself. Im glad the offered solutions easily though honestly wasn't expecting that.** Beyond upset with my recent service on Saturday April 23 2022. Brought them 4 tires to mount and balance which they did... completely ignoring recommend clocking of the tire to valve stem (which isn't a HUGE deal because it does still balance out, just not optimal as most of the time more weight will be required if ignored) I could've looked past that if they hadn't gouged the lips of all my rims and almost damaged my lugnut cover beyond fixable. Stock rims at that. Nothing out of the ordinary, not low profile tires that are sometimes harder to mount. Just regular stock rims same exact tire size as stock. They need to either train their employees better, fire employees not doing their job correctly, or at least fix this issue. Of course with it being Saturday, closed Sunday and my work schedule I have no idea how long this will take to get taken care of or if they will even own up to it. They ruined my 2008 Acura TL's engine. I had them replace my timing belt around 100k miles, which is what you're supposed to do. Unfortunately, the belt tensioner was not installed correctly and suddenly popped off while I was driving it days later. This caused the water pump to stop working, causing the engine to overheat, which then caused a head gasket to blow. Ironically, this means that I now had a ruined engine because I had brought it in and paid $1007.60 in preventative maintenance so that it would NOT be ruined. I brought it back to the shop and asked them to diagnose what exactly was going on with the constant overheating, suspecting it was a blown head gasket. They confirmed that this was the issue and recommended I get the engine replaced. When I called back to settle the diagnostic service, everything had been 'erased' and I no longer owed anything. This was their way of brushing everything under the rug and not owning up to the fact that they are responsible to pay for the engine's replacement. Note that I had been going to them for years, but at this point, I HIGHLY recommend NOT doing business with them. My car is ruined and I still owe on it. What am I supposed to do?! read more

Still terrible people, dad went in with a grinding noise on his breaks, mechanic told him he needed all new rotars, pads and calipers. Of course all it really needed was somebody to grease a sticking caliper and replace one break pad, $35 and an hour, vs $1500 worth of unneeded work. Guess mechanic has a kid in college or something, fyi, mechanics only get paid if they are working, so if they can turn your 1/2 hour job into a 6 hour job, then they get paid for the whole day. read more

I needed 4 new tires before a road trip to Maine. Price and service were excellent. Plus, Troy made sure I had the correct paperwork for a rebate to make a competitive price even better. While waiting, I noted that Troy treated a rather rude and condescending customer with professionalism and courtesy. In addition, this location has full service AAA travel information. I have two new tires that are five years old. I wanted to buy two new ones and have these two mounted. The five year old tires have been garage stored and have literally zero wear. I was told by a representative of this store that a federal law prevented them from mounting the 5 year old tires. After searching the internet I found out there is no such law. Just a company that is overly worried about being sued if something were to happen and overly eager to sell four tires instead of two. So I called a very well known local garage that I have had body and mechanical work done by and they were more than happy to mount the tires. I asked if there is an issue with the tires and they said "No...we get these calls a lot. There are some things we can't do with older parts due to safety but unused and garage stored 5 year old tires shouldn't be an issue." Great! They were even $10 per tire cheaper. Also, three days ago I used this company's website to email a lower price quote. I thought it was a good feature and that they would answer the request. Nothing. I have now wasted three hours of my professional career dealing with this place for the last time. I hope this review is helpful in your tire buying decision making process. read more

Avoid this place at all cost! I was given a quote over the phone for $600.00 to have my ac repaired. I show up to pick up the vehicle, and the bill is now over $1,000!!! The "customer service" people laughed and scoffed at me when I told them that was not the price I was quoted. I had trouble with my battery holding charge and had a AAA technician come out and check it. The technician said that the meter indicated that it needed to be replaced, but that the voltage appeared normal. I took the car into Bob Sumerel. They checked the battery again and the meter did not indicate that the battery needed replacement. Maurice was extremely helpful and got in contact with AAA to make sure that my battery was replaced and covered under my premier membership. Don't even think about taking your vehicle to this place! Took our brand new Lincoln Aviator there simply to have a slow leak in our tire checked out. Unbelievably they punctured our oil pan while hoisting it up on their lift! Their employees are clearly not trained appropriately to even use their lift, let alone repair anything correctly I must assume. They turned us over to their insurance company, Travelers, to deal with us. Haven't seen our car in nearly four months and have no idea when we will because there are no spare oil pans made by Ford yet. That isn't something Bob Sumerel can help, but this is 100% their responsibility and all Traveler's has done is to rent us a used vehicle less than a third the value of our vehicle Sumerel rendered completely inoperable. When calling Sumerel for assistance to compensate us fairly, they didn't even return our call, just sent a message directly to Traveler's to deal with us. read more
