Terrible customer service today. All I was trying to do was purchase something from their travel section and they acted like it was too much trouble to take my money. First of all, the check in clerk (a fill-in during a lunch break) was helping the man in front of me. It took forever, and it was obvious that she was going out of her way to find information that he should have brought with him. That in itself was not the problem, though. I can wait my turn. While I was waiting, though, a man walked in and instead of getting in line behind me, walked right over to one of the windows. Apparently, he didn't have his card, but the clerk, who saw that he hadn't even checked in, told him to come over, he'd help him. Then, when the man in front of me was finally finished, I moved up. When I told the clerk what I wanted, her expression and body language made it perfectly clear that she didn't want to process my purchase. Just then another customer entered and she immediately told me I had to wait so she could check in the person behind me because "this will take awhile." REALLY? I just stood there and waited while she helped the man in front of me and another man bypassed check-in entirely, and she doesn't want to make another customer wait while she rings up my purchase??? Unbelievable. Then the regular clerk returned, the fill-in said "oh you're back" and walked away without a word to me and without telling the other clerk what I was waiting for. I have never had any problems with AAA Central Penn. I appreciate the services they offer and I'd like to think that those who have said they had an experience with rude people, perhaps misinterpreted busy answers with rude answers. When I see reviews being extremely critical of a place that has always seemed great to me, i'm sad that they only gave them one chance. if I encountered a rude person I would either assume they were busy, or I'd just brush it off as that person, and not blame the whole companyunless every time I went in there I encountered that person being rude. but, they have always been polite and helpful in my experience over 30-some years. But of course, I don't know the situation so maybe they did encounter one or two people that didn't answer as kindly as they would have liked. The other day I had to call them for roadside service and I was in a hurry and told the dispatcher. I didn't really think it would help because usually most people would say they were in a hurry and probably are, but I was pleasantly surprised at how hard the tow truck driver tried to reach me quickly. It took longer than I expected and he expected, but he got stuck in traffic where a road was unexpectedly closed. I so much appreciated that he kept in touch with me, to let me know why. And I could tell he was frustrated that he couldn't get to me as quickly as he wanted to. So I knew he was trying. This experience was very positive for me, despite the fact that it took a while. But that wasn't the fault of AAA or the tow truck driver. The dispatcher at AAA went out of her way to make my experience a good one. read more

I needed to transfer from one club in another state to Central PA and was on hold forever with customer service. I walked into the AAA office and my issue was resolved in 5 minutes. I was also able to cancel my old club membership so it wouldn't automatically renew. Great service! read more

Had AAA for years, great service while living in NV. Moved to PA was switched to central penn office they are the worst. Agents are lazy and they are RUDE. After being a loyal member for years I will never use this service again. My car insurance roadside assistance is more reliable. read more

I've been a member since I was 16, and took over all our family accounts when Nana passed away, and she was a 75 year member at the time. I just had a dead battery at my house, and called AAA for a battery replacement quote. Their battery for my Acura, 159.00 including tax and sending someone to install it with a SIX year warranty. All other places I called had the same battery for the same price, with a THREE year warranty and I would need to take out the battery and haul it to them all dirty and grimy. No thanks. Batteries Plus, Pep Boys, etc. Either you have to jump the car and take it to them or pull out the battery and unhook all the wires. NO WAY. AAA's techs came and replaced it in about 15 minutes. Been a member for 20 years. They offer great discounts for theme parks, vehicle rentals, hotels. Free TripTiks, maps and books for members. Also Road provides roadside for lockouts and tows. They also have a "show your card and save" partner program that gives you discounts at local and national stores. Just got to remember to use it. It was great to save on a moving truck when i had to move AND at the Airport parking when I went on vacation last fall. They have multiple branches across mid central PA. They also do things for members at a small cost such as.. - Vehicle registration renewal - Pass port photos (much cheaper then post office) - Book airline, cruise, or train tickets. - Visa Reward Cards (refillable) - Foreign Currency Exchange - Offer different Insurance Agency's and will find the cheapest one for you. - Drivers Education for students and Mature operator Classes. I might sound like an "ad" but if you take the time to lookup and USE all the features that AAA provides you'll see the benefit to a membership in a heartbeat.. IT's NOT all just "help me on the side of the road". They can really save you money throughout the year in other areas of life. read more

I just had my first dealings with AAA Central Penn Customer Management center where all complaints are handled. I called for a tow & the tow driver tried to force the shifter into reverse despite my instructions on how to do it right. As he forced, the shifter linkage snapped. The Auto Club is now denying liability claiming wear & tear. We have driven this car for 8 years without a problem. They want ever increasing member fees but they won't accept responsibility for what their employees do. My other car does not work reliably; it is more of a project car. So, now, we effectively do not have a car. I am going to cancel my membership & urge others to do the same read more
