Home Warranty Claim…read more Im going to start this out by saying I'm sure Precision Garage Door Twin Cities does wonderful work but be weary of them if they are answering to a home warranty claim. Mine in particular was HSA Home Warranty. Last week my garage door opener failed, along with it at the same time the spring snapped. The gear and sprocket on the opener had broke and the door came crashing down. When that happened the spring snapped. All of my equipment was from 2002. So it did its job for 22 years, pretty impressive! The Precision Garage Door Technician was sent out within a day to come and look at it. (Good on them) When he showed up, he checked everything out. He mentioned to me that the spring was too small for the door. Which is interesting, we will get to that later. He then started the process of calling the Home Warranty company to see if I was covered. He told them the opener had failed due to the wrong size spring installed on my door. The home warranty company denied my coverage. The technician then began to work on a quote for fixing the situation for me. He said that the garage door opener was too old to be fixed and that he would need install a new one($675) a bigger spring on my door($330) cables($122) new vertical door tracks($186) new bearings($37) and new bottom brackets($87) for a grand total of $1437. I was shocked. I need to get in my garage but this price was a lot more than I wanted to spend right before Christmas. I was very upset about the situation so I called the home warranty company a total of 5 times, I went back and forth with them about my coverage. In the contract it says they cover the garage door opener. They finally agreed to send out a second garage door company to inspect it. The second garage door company, inspected it, and let me know that in fact, the spring that was installed on my door was not too small. This is what I mentioned we would get back to you later. The spring was the correct size for my garage door. The second garage door company called HSA Home Warranty and explained to them the situation. He was able to fix the garage door at no cost to me covered under my home warranty. I believe that Precision Garage Door Twin Cities was just trying to make a sale. They did not care about doing what's right for the customer. And I believe they lied about being able to fix my garage door opener in order to sell a new unit to me. The second garage door company had the part for my garage door in their truck and they were able to fix my 22-year-old garage door opener. Everything is working great now. I did not need to spend $1437. Like I said in my first paragraph, I'm sure they do great work but be weary of these large corporate service companies just trying to make a sale and not fix things that could be fixed.

The salesperson, David Schaffran, informed me the lead time would be 6-8 weeks. On 9/23/24 a two-person crew from BlackHawk Garage Door came to my house and installed the new garage door, tracks, spring, and opener. The installation crew realized there was one damaged section as well as two other sections of the garage door that didn't have the correct color trim. At no point during the two-month wait did BlackHawk Garage Door notify me of any issues with the garage door, nor did the technicians notify me of the obvious problems until after installation was complete. They had already removed my existing garage door, tracks, spring, and opener, so I had no option but to wait for them to fix these issues with the new garage door sections. After the installation crew left, I called David Schaffran to inquire about these issues. David said he would get back to me later on 9/23/24, but never did. I emailed BlackHawk Garage Door's management the following day to get their resolution plans. The purchasing manager, Brandon Myers, responded claiming this was a warranty issue with the supplier, C.H.I. Garage Door. Brandon told me we were fortunate to be getting all four sections of the garage door replaced through warranty. This is not a warranty issue. This door was not to the specs I ordered per our contract. BlackHawk Garage Door knowingly installed a wrong and partially damaged door. Brandon has repeatedly assigned the blame on the supplier and insisted that BlackHawk Garage Door has done the best they could, glossing over the fact that BlackHawk clearly failed to properly inspect the door. I have had to inquire several times to get a clear answer as to when I would have the correct garage door installed at my home. The most information he provided was 4-5 weeks lead time for the replacement garage sections, and that the installation would be prioritized. After more than five weeks of waiting with no updates, I followed up again through email on 10/30/24. Brandon Myers responded claiming the replacement sections were backordered not once but twice, first on 10/11/24 and again on 10/24/24. I was never informed by BlackHawk Garage Door when these events took place. The revised ETA is now allegedly the second week of November, 2024. BlackHawk Gargage Door has been disrespectful to my time and property and has not performed on our contract. They have never taken responsibility, and their communication reflects a smug arrogance that they're doing me a favor even when it's their wrongdoing.

On the day of the install Davis Marshall and Colton Johnson did an wonderful job. They were punctual, worked cleanly and efficiently and were very courteous and informative. Our garage floor looks great and I would absolutely recommend them if you need your floor done.
