We just refinanced through A1 Mortgage. I had inquired with 3-4 different companies in the Kansas City area to check on the terms and rates. They were all offering comparable terms and were all quite well rated in BBB. We picked A1 Mortgage primarily because we wanted to get this done quickly and the loan office, Ami Buccero, promised that they could get our loan closed in approximately 2 weeks or less. When I asked the other companies they said that 2 weeks would be hard to do and most unlikely. So we were a little skeptic when signing up with Ami at A1 Mortgage but I am happy to report that they did live up to their promise of superfast closing. Ami was always on top of things keeping us posted regularly during the whole process and sent us all of the paperwork and documents in a very timely manner. Long story short, all we had to do is forward the documents she requested and before we know we had a scheduled closing date. Ami's customer service deserves special kudos. After our closing, we realized that there was a 1-day delay in paying off our previous mortgage company and therefore there was a chance that we would be hit with a Late Fee since the loan payoff had hit the books after the late payment deadline for our monthly payment. I explained this to Ami and she promptly volunteered to send us a check for the Late Fee. Luckily, it turned out that the Late Fee was not charged by our previous mortgage company. However, we are very glad that Ami offered to compensate us for the Late Fee even without our asking. In summary, although there are many good mortgage companies in KC, we would highly recommend going with A1 Mortgage because they have excellent customer service and they do deliver on their promise of quick closing. read more

This is a rebuttal to Bruces comment. I want to first explain the appraisal ordering process and how we have no affiliation or can have any contact with the Appraiser or Appraisal company. By law (Appraiser Independence Requirements), A1 Mortgage and every other mortgage company/bank is required to order appraisals through a third party company which selects a certified Appraiser. I understand Bruce's frustration, however we have no control over the value of his home. I contacted Realtors and did my due diligence to find better comparables than what the Appraiser had listed. After I was unsuccessful, I had the Appraisal review board review the appraisal and found it to be a quality appraisal. I offered to have another Appraisal completed to compare value and if higher, have the management company refund Bruce for the first appraisal. I did my best to help Bruce, but unfortunately the value of his home wasn't there to accomplish the refinance. We do everything we can to help our customers use a conservative approach when estimating what their home may be worth by researching tax values and online valuations. This in return ensures that our customers time and money isn't wasted, Thank you for taking the time to read this. Charles Weatherman read more

Watch out, these guys are lying crooks. We were less than 24 hours away from closing after a month of paperwork and three appraisals on our house (two of which we paid for out of pocket) when I demanded to see the HUD (they didn't want to turn it over, I had to ask for it several times), ran the *correct* numbers with loan calculators and realized that Nick Payne had lied to us about the amount of money we'd be saving on our home refi. Instead of saving nearly $100,000 in interest over the life of the loan, we were actually going to be coming up owing MORE money across the life of the loan, even at a lower interest rate, than on our current loan. What's the point of refinancing your home if you're going to pay more money over the life of the loan and immediately go under water on the true value of your home? When I took my complaints to the owner, he said "we got you a lower interest rate and lower monthly payments, we did everything you asked." We are grateful we didn't close the loan, but are still out nearly $800 in appraisal fees. Wish we could have just put that towards paying our other bills instead. Don't trust these schmucks for five seconds, their "nice guy" facade will fall away the second you start to see through their scheme. read more

I recently used Nick Payne at A1 Mortgage to refinance my house, so did my parents, and one of my close friends, all of whom have had a great experience with all the staff at A1 Mortgage. I firmly believe that having a positive transaction relies in large part to the customer being educated on the process before starting such an important transaction, such as refinancing a house. To solely rely on another individual to explain such a complicated process to you only leads to misunderstanding and disagreements. I will use A1 mortgage the next time I need to refi and will continue to recommend them to all of my friends and family. As a consumer in this day and age it is our very own responsibility to keep ourselves educated and resist the urge to blame our ignorance on others. I was given nothing but the utmost respect by all staff at A1 and any and all questions were answered timely and accurately. read more

My wife and I decided to contact Vic DeSantis with A1 Mortgage after we had several bad experiences with a prior mortgage company. We were very "gun shy" but after having our 2nd child in our 40's and our adult son moving back home, we decided a house wasn't just an option it was a necessity. We were shocked when Vic had our Pre-Approval letter within the week! Finding our perfect home soon followed and we made an offer. Vic was a trooper. He handled our questions and concerned calls with upfront professionalism and honest compassion. My wife could hardly believe it when Vic called to tell us we were ready to close two weeks early! We sincerely appreciate all of his work and chose to write this review as a sign of our appreciation to Vic DeSantis. He is truly a man of his word and someone you can trust in the home mortgage business. read more

Closed on my house last Thursday but have worked with Vic DeSantis before on 2 refi's. Those previous experiences were easy but this was my first sale and purchase at the same time. To say it was a breeze is an understatement. Vic knows his business inside and out and was helpful in more ways than just finding me a lender on the new house. Vic saved my a$$ more than once in the offer process and his advice was invaluable. I will be back for my next refi for sure (sorry, not moving boxes again anytime soon!) and always recommend Vic as "my mortgage guy" to friends and family. Always a pleasure to deal with someone who doesn't waste your time, isn't just in it to make himself money and genuinely cares that the customer gets what they can afford/needs. No shyster banking here! Thank you Vic for everything! Rachel Foote read more

My initial contact with A-1 Mortgage was through a mailer I received describing the VA "IRRL" loan program. I called and talked to Jack Chalmers who explained the program to me and how I could benefit from it. Jack explained the specific requirements of the loan and after a few questions, determined I met all eligibility requirements. The process from that point on was as smooth and trouble free as any I have encountered. From start to finish(closing the loan) took only about two weeks. I was so amazed at the ease of this process, considering my original VA loan with a different company was extremely frustrating and irritating. I can say with absolute certainty that if I should have a need for another mortgage, I will contact Jack and A-1 again. read more

We had an absolutely outstanding outcome! Our loan officer Marty Payne went out of his way to get the very best solution for us! In a little over a month we were able to not only refinance our 1st mortgage but our variable interest 2nd mortgage as well into 1 loan! Which was an answered prayer! We lost 5 years off our mortgage. 3.25% off our interest rate. We are saving $140 a month! NOT TO MENTION the $$$ we are saving over the entire length of the loan, which is in the thousands of dollars!!!! The flexibility of the team for meetings, signing paperwork and closing was great! We just closed on the Jan 17th! We are referring our friends, co-workers & church family to Marty Payne! A1 Mortgage is super efficient, professional and friendly! read more

I have used A1 Mortgage twice and dealt with Marty Payne both times. He is very personable and I would highly recommend for any needs that you may have; I ran into some issues with the appraisal company over paint and a window in need of repair and they would not let me move forward until the repairs were made. I knew this would cause a delay and panic started to set in but Marty personally came to my home after hours and helped me make the repairs that the appraiser required to move forward. I was also contacted by the lender when they were made aware that I was refinancing and they promised to "beat any deal that A1 provided" as they were my current lender. They did not even come close. Thanks Marty read more

We worked with Marty Payne, and he was amazing. We were high maintenance customers becuase our house took over a year to sell. Once it did sell, we pushed everyone hard to complete the closing on the house we purchased so we could coordinate the moving process between the two houses. Marty was always quick to respond to our requests. He was very knowledgeable and gave us all of our options without giving us a sales job. I even recommended him for my daughter and he did a great job with her as well. The experience could not have been better and we got a better rate than anyone I have talked to. Great job A-1 and Marty! read more

My husband and I were looking to lower our monthly mortgage payment due to a job loss. Ami Buccero was our contact at A1 and I couldn't have worked with a nicer, more professional person. We needed to do a bit of credit clean up, so she pointed us in the right direction. She stayed in contact with us during that time, offering help. Once that was completed, we were able to refinance. Ami made sure all of our questions were answered. She worked with us to find convenient times to meet. The entire process was very smooth. I would recommend Ami at A1 for any mortgage needs. I feel I've made a new friend! read more

I would recommend A1 Mortgage to anyone looking to refinance. Ami Buccero made it so easy. First I spoke with Ami on the phone and she immediately began processing our basic information. She then sent me the information needed to complete the official processing. I was able to send it to her through email, limiting the time and trips needed to complete the paperwork. A1 handled everything and we had our money within a couple of weeks! Ami's professional skills made me feel at ease as she took the time to explain and answer questions. My compliments to A1 Mortgage and their personable and professional team. read more

It was my privilege to work with John Candiano to refinance my mortgage. He found us a great rate and was able to reduce our payment considerably. The process was simple and painless. We were doing the financing from Topeka Kansas while his office is in Lee Summit Missouri. Much of the preliminary work was done via phone and email, even to signing the initial documents through e-signing and emails. One quick trip to Kansas City and we shook hands and drove off knowing our new mortgage was in process. We were extremely pleased with the work, the efficiency and the professionalism. I would like to especially commend Ami's support during the process. She was very professional and accommodating. I don't ever review things, but I had to make an exception for the excellent work these guys did handling the mess that was selling our house and buying our new house. There were a lot of issues that popped up with selling our house, but Rick took care of everything quickly and was very nice and professional through the whole thing. I really can't stress how great these guys did taking care of everything! They got all the paperwork and issues in line within 2 weeks and made it incredibly easy on us. Go with these guys, they're fantastic. Ask for Rick. read more

I purchased my home in late 2010 on an FHA mortgage and was surprised to find out I was able to refinance through the FHA Streamline program this fall, dropping my rate to 3.75% and saving over $110/month on my payment. My loan officer, Vic DeSantis, was very knowledgeable and made the process very simple and easy. He closed my loan in less than 2 weeks and I received over $2000 back from escrow that I was able to use to pay other bills. I'd definitely recommend Vic as he was really great to work with! read more

I just closed my loan with Nick Payne at A1 Mortgage and I had the best refinancing experience that I've ever had. Nick put all of my worries to rest and I was able to close on my loan in just over a week! If Nick tells you something trust me when I say that is the way it will be, he is very honest and upfront and the service he provides is second to none. I will definitely use Nick in the future for all of my mortgage needs and I'll refer all of my friends and family to Nick Payne and A1 Mortgage. read more

This was by far the easiest refinance I've ever experienced. Rick Langley at A-1 Mortgage was terrific. He told me the items I needed to bring with me when I met with him and he tailored my refinance and cash out according to what I wanted to accomplish financially. I closed in less than 20 days--check in the bank. Incredible! I rarely take the time to write a review, but in this case it's warranted. I would recommend giving Rick a call! read more
