I haven't seen any notice of what happened to this long-time Downtown L.A. business - no "Moved" sign on the front (garage) door (though there's a "For Sale" sign) - but no appearance of a new location nor of any "new"- reincarnation of this long-time L.A. business. As of 9-29-2019 the website is still active listing the Alameda Street address and operating hours, but it appears that Downtown Metals and Recycling Center is only a memory. If anyone has information on what happened to this Los Angeles recycling industry pioneer that WAS OPEN 24 HOURS/DAY for many years, please post it here as an update/tribute/acknowledgement of their role in shaping the arts district by providing a method for original arts district artists to pretty easily earn a couple extra bucks AND sometimes also BUY salvage items for their work, also for many construction workers with surplus copper wire, glass, etc. to make some decent extra cash as well as a wide variety of Angelenos including skid row street dwellers who tolerated the loud, crowded, dirty warehouse it operated in to drop off a wide range of recyclable materials for benefit of the environment and their wallets. YELP please confirm that this business hasn't moved or resurfaced and update the listing accordingly.
