I had a muffler hiccup by way of a detached pipe to the front flange on my way home to Cape Cod late on a Monday afternoon. I looked on yelp for the nearest highly rated garage and A1 came up first. With 150 miles to go to get home, I needed at least a temporary repair in order to get to my mechanic where I live. I pulled in to A1 without an appointment and a really noisy car. They got my car patched up in less than half an hour and for less than $100. I took my car in to A-1 for the first time this week. I had an exhaust leak. They were very up-front with me about the estimated time and money it would take to fix. When the repair was completed, they rest drove it, and recommended I replace a wheel bearing that was making noise. I couldn't be happier. Great work at a fair price. I would give A-1 100 stars if I could! My husband and I were on our way from MA to CT to visit family when our engine overheated on the highway. We were able to pull off and get towed to a repair shop, but we're unfamiliar with the area and nervous that no one would be able to help us at 4pm day of. We called A-1 and not only did they say they would take a look at our car that day if we were towed there, but the front desk staff also asked if we were safe and even offered to come pick us up if we were not. SO KIND and so helpful when you're panicking on the road side! We got towed to the shop and they were able to diagnose our problem and order the part. By the next day at 12pm they were completely done with the work and it came in at a lower cost than the estimate! ALL of the staff (especially the women up front who we primarily communicated with) were fantastic and so empathetic as we were very nervous about being somewhat stranded! They were polite, competent, and answered all of our questions. The sweetest part? When we got home from our trip we came to find they sent us a postcard thanking us for choosing them and wishing us well. How considerate and truly above and beyond! Took my husbands truck here for a break job. They told me what needed to be done at a very great price. The truck was ready and fixed the same day. The place I use to bring my cars to use to take forever and my vehicle was always dirty after NOT at A1 it was nice and clean. A1 auto will have all my car repair business Just had another great experience at A1 auto. I brought my daughters Dodge Caliber there while we were away on vacation. She needed an oil change outer tie rods and tires. We made arrangements with a local tire store to bring the tires to A1 where they put them on for us and balanced them. They kept in contact with us the whole time and car was ready the day after we came home. Came home to a nice clean and fixed car. read more

I have been going to A1 Auto for years. The entire staff is personable, reliable, and shares their knowledge in a way that customers can understand. I have had several occasions in which they have fairly advised me on repairs and decisions, and I fully trust their judgment and expertise. There was another review that stated that she believed that since she was "a girl who knows little about cars" that they "were trying to take advantage", and I could not disagree more strongly. I have been going to A1 since I was 18, and they have always treated me in a fair, respectful manner, even telling me when I could do services myself that would cost me less and not make them any money. They have also told me when services were not needed. Brought my car in because it was leaking oil. I get a call saying that whoever did the oil change before had over tightened the oil filter and cracked it (which was Jiffy Lube). Everyone at A1 Auto treat you with respect, and tell you everything they need to do. I will from now on take my vehicles there to have anything done, including oil changes! read more

I've been bringing my cars here for years. For the most part, they've been communicative and fairly priced. However, recently I've noticed a decline in the customer service. Most recently I stopped in to get a quote on a brake job. The woman who "helped" me had dark hair, and sadly I think she's one of the owners! She acted very put out that I was asking for a quote, and more or less told me I didn't know what I was talking about. She said she needed an "actual mechanic" look at it. I informed her that the person who looked at it IS a mechanic, and that I'm not looking to pull a fast one, I just need an idea of the price before I bring it in! I told her if it ends up needing more work, then so be it, but I wanted an idea of what I was getting myself into. She acted so very bothered, but said she'd do it and then never called back. I waited a week and then brought it to another shop. The other shop did a wonderful job, and I will bring my business there from now on. I'm all set with that. ********** ********** ********** In response to your reply, I never received a call, and my problem was mainly with the attitude. I have not used a1 automotive for approximately 10 years to the non-professional approach. Many of my vehicles were work vehicles when I pay the same amount of money for service as a Cadillac I do not expect tools on my cars or trucks without protection down I don't expect greasy hand marks and prints throughout my car or mud/dirt on my carpet. I gave this company thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars for repairs. They should respect no matter what vehicle what year whether business or pleasure or other you pay the same amount for labor and everybody is due the same amount of service. I will say they had just recently opened their doors and Chris and his wife seamed to be good trustworthy people.I do believe a lot of it was due to incompetent employees along with starting a new business I'm happy to see recent positive results however I have lost all trust in them. I'm glad they are alive and strong however not A1 auto but many area mechanics just don't get it. I now do my own repairs it may take me twice as long but I'm happy with the results or spend the additional $25 an hour and bring it to the dealers. Please understand this is not a bashing post what it does show you how hard it is to start manage and operate a new business as a previous professional owner of a company for over three decades good help is hard to find. And new owners do not always make the right decision it is a learning curve I wish them nothing but the best read more
