It was very confusing and my paranoid ass checked at least 10 times before visiting that I was not mistaken! This location or the Villages were my options so I chose here due to the abundance of places I visit when I travel up to Gainesville. The business is located on a very busy street and we have never been to this area previously. We passed it of course and then pulled into the driveway that is south of the store. The parking lot is in the back and there was plenty of parking. Upon entering, we were greeted by someone and I informed them I was there for a fingerprint appointment, to which I was led to the area. All it entailed was a very small desk and podium with a computer and digital fingerprint pad. The woman who assisted me was very nice and professional. She requested my ID and input all the information. The process took about 5 minutes. It would have been less but 1-2 of my fingerprints were not reading correctly so we had a couple of do overs. Since I am a therapist, I have to get fingerprinted every once in a while, especially when starting a new job. This was the easiest and quickest fingerprint process I have experienced. It has been the farthest I have traveled to get it completed though. Regarding the store, I think they rent to own furniture and appliances but the ambiance gave me the vibe that it has been there for a very long time.

During this time, I learned that not everyone likes a do-it-yourself like me. Some even said I wanted, "free work." Not true! However, the current installed prices spoke to me. I grabbed my tools! Pulling a local permit as a home owner/builder in Florida, I installed a 2 ton (24k) ACIQ-24-HP32 condenser and ACIQ-24-AH32 air handler, and related mechanical. This system replaced a 26 year old 1.5 ton (18K) Trane XE-1000 condenser and TWGO18A air handler that was showing its age -- like me. One of my main hardware vendors, HVAC direct, patiently worked with me as I learned the new system requirements. With help from Isaiah Luke Appliance Repair to do the final commissioning of the system, the new ACIQ inverter system passed local inspection! The new system is a noticeably quieter and produces considerable heat split by comparison with the previous system. The fact that the ACIQ has a higher BTU rating, (24K) a higher seer rating (18), and yet uses smaller breakers, 30A down to 25A on the outside unit and 30 down to 15 amps for the inside unit and doesn't dim my lights when it runs, says it all. He charged $290 to re-caulk the shower, replace the door seal, and repair the drywall. He also claimed he found no moisture behind the wall using a moisture reader. Unfortunately, I noticed staining reappearing shortly after. After multiple delays and excuses, he returned months later and said a faulty gasket was likely the issue. I paid an additional $180 for the part and labor in January 2025. Despite repeated, polite follow-ups, he never returned to do the work and eventually stopped responding entirely. Now, in June 2025, we've discovered water stains on the kitchen ceiling -- directly under the same shower -- confirming an active leak and likely structural damage. If he had followed through promptly, we could have avoided what may now be a far more expensive repair. I'm out nearly $500 for incomplete and ineffective work, and I'm incredibly frustrated by the lack of accountability or follow-through. I would not recommend this handyman to anyone.
