Sue, the project manager, offered no real help with fixture selection (e.g., she told us to "use the filters" on a website we'd already tried). TIMELINE DISCONNECT (FEB 28) Keith disclosed late that the countertop needed a 10-business-day lead time and that subsequent tasks would push the project to around three weeks--far beyond our hoped-for one-week timeframe. CONTRACT & SCOPE OMISSIONS (MAR 12-21) After I canceled a meeting, Keith declined to email the contract, insisting on another in-person appointment. We finally reviewed it on March 15 but discovered the trashcan insert was omitted. Keith apologized yet still never provided a detailed cost breakdown. TILE PROBLEMS (SPRING 2024-MAY 2025) Several tiles were laid out improperly, and two had extra-wide grout lines. Keith's crew returned weeks later, but he sent a finish carpenter, not a tiler, leaving flaws. They redid those tiles again in May 2025 without Keith supervising. The tiler also used floor leveler to raise part of our century-old floor several inches--without our consent--then tried to charge extra and later failed to remove it from the invoice promptly. COUNTERTOP & BACKSPLASH ISSUES (FEB-MAY 2025) Small items rolled off the countertop's edge. By April, the section over the dishwasher sagged, leaving a gap. Keith finally added a bracket in May, admitting it should have been done initially. For the backsplash, his crew broke the grey-white marble pattern without asking, substituting grey for white near the edge. Keith insisted the white pieces were "too small" to cut, which felt untrue, and he never consulted us. OTHER UNPROFESSIONAL INCIDENTS Keith brought up politics (specifically, Trump) during contract signing, which felt inappropriate. One day, his workers cut quartz with our windows open, blanketing our downstairs in dust, for which he offered $200. A worker also smoked in our backyard after we explicitly said no. FINAL INVOICE & REFUND DISPUTE (SEPT 2024-MAR 2025) Keith apologized for including the unapproved floor-leveler charge on our final bill. We requested about a 10% refund due to recurring problems and incomplete fixes. He verbally agreed in March 2025 but later avoided the subject. We still haven't received any compensation. Said architect magically disappeared when we attempted to contact for updated drawings 4. does not follow architectural plans which caused many problems with city inspections. 5. does not provide any paperwork or backup for charges and bills. 6. promises the world and delivers very little. 7. left us unable to use our home as it should be able to be used for at least four years. Still do not have a fully functioning kitchen. Advice to those contemplating hiring her for services: DO NOT.

We found Fresh Home Painting by following a chain of trust. We started with a roofer we trusted, who recommended a general contractor, who in turn called in a painter he trusted. This was no small job. We needed new windows stained (different colors in different rooms to match exiting cabinets and woodwork), wallpaper removed, walls and ceilings painted, woodwork refreshed, our roof cleaned, and the outside of the house (aluminum siding) painted. Vince Bayeh came out with the GC, and we all worked together to decide exactly what needed to be done and how. We had already told the GC that quality was more important than speed or cost, and since we'd followed a chain of trusted professionals (who were transparent about their finders and referral fees) we threw ourselves on their mercy. Vince gave us a contract, not an estimate. It was a firm price for a detailed list of work to be done. We paid part when we signed the contract, part when work started, and the rest upon completion. We don't regret that one bit. Vince himself is a perfectionist, and so is his crew (up to five people, at some points). Vince and the GC spotted things on their final walkthrough that we would not have noticed for months, if ever, and they were fixed immediately. Vince assured us that if we had questions, we should call him and he would take care of it. We did have one issue, and not only did he come out the next day, but he took care of it himself in the same visit. I can't imagine a better experience.

BUYER BEWARE: I hired David Carr to build for 3 contracts…read more The Deck: I initially hired Mr. Carr to build me a deck. I was delayed in getting a permit to move in my new house due to continued problems with the back deck. The steps had to be torn apart and re-done because they were not built to code. First State Inspections turned it down several more times until everything was corrected (step height, railing spacing, etc). After some time, I was finally given a permit to move in; however, I was told I was not allowed to use the back deck exit, only the front entrance. He took apart the railings while he was rebuilding the steps and piled them up in the dirt in the back yard. It was a YEAR before he completed the railings. When he finally reinstalled them, they were all scratched up and stained from the dirt and stones. He would not replace them. He put the vinyl covered posts back up with new screw holes and the old holes he filled in with putty. Unbelievable!! I insisted they all be changed. He did change the vinyl post, but would not replace the scratched and stained railings. A board on the steps was not screwed back down. I did not catch this because the screw holes were there from his first attempt at building the steps. Someone fell going up the steps when the board came loose. I was lucky I wasn't sued. When he first started on my deck, it looked nice, so I hired him to build the front porch. Looking back, I wish I had waited to see this project through first because I would NOT have hired him for anything else. I kept all paperwork, including contracts, permits, inspection failures, BBB complaints, Attorney General's complaint, and a complaint with the Delaware Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

I had three rooms renovated, dinner patch work inside the house all done beautifully. I worked with a bit of contractors before that we're reliable, but JDRC puts in an extra umph to their work. Bathroom, kitchen, and bedrooms came out with excellent quality. Bedroom, split room, remove closet, and adding a door. Repainted walls and simple adjustment of light switch. Excellent paint job and sanding the walls. Bathroom renovation was done on removing grout and mold. Inside window tray was fixed. It was horrible initially because other contractors messed up the support and caused major molding to occur. JDRC was able to patch it but did recommend replacement. Repainted heatpipe. They sand down the old paint and repainted it. Excellent job with everything here. Kitchen work was cabinet replacements, sink, and countertop replacements. Everything was great. They even replanted the walls afterwards since they wanted everything to look nice and new to match their work. Kitchen window molding was replaced sure to new cabinet sizing. JDRC was flexible and easy to work with. They do honest with and trustworthy. I've seen contractors that cheat on their job, and JDRC did not. I highly recommend them for renovations. This job was done months ago but I haven't had time to write this review. Thanks again!
